Hello Reese,

I am not sure that this problem has been resolved yet. Here are some
suggestions:

One workaround for HTML messages that JAWS won't read correctly in Outlook
2007 is to have your browser read the message. Use Alt followed by H
followed by X followed by v. The H moves focus to the message tab, the X
activates the other actions button, and the V opens the message in the
browser.

Here is how to have all messages read in text format:

1. Open the tools menu using Alt+T and then use up arrow key until you
get to the trust center menu choice. Open the trust center with enter
key.
2. Use up or down arrow key in the list of categories until you get to
the E-mail security category.
3. Use tab a number of times and you should find a box for reading all
messages in text. Press spacebar on the choice.

4. use tab key to the OK button and press enter key.

If you have a message that has been converted into text from HTML, you can
change it back to HTML. You need to find the information bar. I have
done this using JAWS cursorThe Alt+N that can be used in Internet Explorer
doesn't work. If you route JAWS to PC and go to the top of the window,
you can then use down arrow until you hear the message that says something
like Thiss message has been converted to plain text. Do a right mouse
click on the line of text and choose to have it put back into HTML.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] receiving file via Skype

2009-05-22 Thread Van Der Walt Riana
Hello Estelita,

The easiest way to send a file, is to select the relevant file where it
resides on your pc, use the applications menu by downarrowing to send
via skype, or it may perhaps be in the send menu reached from within the
applications menu and just click on it. Click on the relevant contact in
the skype menu which will open then.

The transfer will start as soon as the other person has accepted the
transfer.

To receive a file:
I haven't done this with skype 4 yet, but provided that your skype is
running, you will receive a message in that window that someone wants to
send you a file and you must accept or deny to receive it, or some words
to that effect.

If you accept by pressing enter on that option, you must specify in
which folder the file must be saved, but per default it's in my skype
received files, under my documents.

As soon as you confirm that, the file is being sent and progress is
shown by way of I think percentage and also the speed of the transfer.

I don't know whether this is effected by your specific connection, but
presume so.

For me it's slower than sendspace downloads but faster than sendspace
uploads.

When the file is done it is displayed and depending on your skype
settings, that dialogue box closes and you can find the saved file where
you've specified it to be.

It was yesterday mentioned on a list that with skype 4, one needs to use
the jaws curser to save a file.

By the way, skype 4 seems to work ok, provided that one install the
jaws scripts. We have also established that the voice encoding has
improved so much, that apart from much better voice quality, the data on
average to be used per hour on voice calls, has been brought down to
about 30 mb, as opposed to between 80 and 100 mb in early skype
versions.

Regards

Riana

Re: [JAWS-Users] laptop gets shut down during scanning

2009-05-22 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Shikher,

It might be that the antivirus programs are conflicting. I believe that
each of those programs have antivirus scanning capabilities, so you should
only have one of them on your system. I don't use AVG 8.5, but I am quite
sure it has anti-spyware scanning and protection features in the program.
You can have another anti-spyware program running on your system, but
antivirus programs can really conflict with each other. Of course, you
might have run scans from online and this might not be your problem, but if
you do have three different antivirus programs on your system then you
should have two of them removed. At least one of the programs you mentioned
has a removal tool that will remove parts of the program not removed by the
usual add/remove applet in the control panel.

Take care.

It is more correct to say that JAWS is not speaking accented characters - it
recognizes them all right, but they are non-english. To change this, go into
the configuration manager, Set Options, Symbols Graphics, and on the first
tab change the value perhaps to 'also say word'. You ought also to specify

Re: [JAWS-Users] receiving file via Skype

2009-05-22 Thread tim
Make sure the person is on-line in skipe. Then hit the application
key on there name. Chose send file in the list. a regular send file
window opens. chose your file and hit enter.
To receive I think you have to alt + tab to the window if it don't
open up in your skipe window. Just tab to allow and then pick where
you want to save it.

That is all there is to it, and that will read without scripts.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws acts funny after i put my computer to sleep.

2009-05-22 Thread tim

That is because jaws never did act right in that mode.
The reason for it is the ram is dumped and all there is left on
virtual on the hard drive. jaws has to reload in ram and don't see
the placement in virtual ram on the hard drive.

hibernation may work better in that case.

I'm using Adobe Reader 9, with the accesibility options set.
But every time I tried to download the file, the program would quit

When we unloaded JAWS we were able to access the file and turn it into text.
Does anyone have any idea why JAWS might interact with Adobe or a certain

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and Adobe Reader 9

2009-05-22 Thread Hans Pauli Sundstein
Hi Tom.

Did you try to open the pdf file directly from the website, or did you try to
right click on it, and save it on your hard disk, before opening it in Adobe
Reader?

There is a setting in the Adobe Reader, where you can allow the pdf documents
to be opened in the browser, or you can choose to download the pdf document
first, and open it in Adobe Reader only, and have the necessary accessability
settings in action.

The problem with pdf documents is, that the creators can make them as they
want, also they can let all the information in the document be shown in a
picture, that Jaws cannot read, and they can close the document by security
reasons, so the accessability tools that makes jaws able to read the
information in the pdf document is'nt available.

We are lucky every time when we can get a pdf document that is accessable with
Jaws, but it is'nt so every time.

Good luck.

Greetings from Hans Pauli.

[JAWS-Users] OT: Windows Default Beep sounds on WebPages

2009-05-22 Thread Liz Bottner
Hi all,

I do apologize for the off topic message, and so before I even state my
problem, I ask that anyone who responds do so off list at the email address
in my signature.

When I am on a webpage, no matter which browser, the windows default beep
sound is played when I am navigating the page and wrap around the page from
the end to the beginning. It will also play sometimes when I jump to
different elements. For example, on Google's page, when I hit E and go into
the search edit field, the beep is heard. TO my knowledge, this hasn't
always happened. It's not a huge deal, but I want to fix it if at all
possible. I can't find anywhere to change it in browser options. Changing
the windows default beep sound to none doesn't fix it, either, as then I get
another beep from my computer to take place of the other sound.

If anyone thinks they might be able to provide insight, feel free to write
me off list.

Thanks, my apologies again for the off topic message, and take care,

Liz

[JAWS-Users] Internet Explorer Landmarks

2009-05-22 Thread Victor
Hi Folks,

Anyone have any idea what a land mark is on a web page?

I'm assuming it has something to do with it's navigation or some such, but a
site I've been accessing on a daily basis for the last year or so seems to have
screwed up to the point that I can't access it the way I used to.

For example, one of the data tables that house the message lists are not
displaying properly, and I can't click on some of the links, particularly in my
mail options page, which is important to me and how I view my mail.

Some of you may be familiar with this change as I have noticed it on Yahoo's
mail servers page.

Those with an A T T/SBC Global account may notice this type of change.

Can anyone tell me if this is related to Internet Explorer 8 or not, or whether
this is yahoo's fault, as I have noticed that they tend to make changes to
their website without our consultation.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks.
