Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 11 and Office 2007

2009-10-09 Thread Baracco, Andrew W
We installed Office 2007 here a few months ago, and I do notice
sluggishness. I don't think it is a screen reader issue though. You
could probably smoke a cigarette before Outlook or any of the apps load.
Mail messages take a long time to open, but I notice that the
sluggishness is the most noticeable at the beginning, and things seem to
improve after a little while. I think that some of the problem with
Outlook 2007 has to do with the fact that it uses Word as its editor, so
you have to wait for Word to load in the background.

The easiest way is to not open the message, but to focus on it in the
message list and hit ALT-F N. This way you are in the familiar dropdown

Replying to my own message, isn't there some kind of plug-in that makes

Has anyone tried that?

By the way, I'm using JAWS9 at work, so obviously subsequent versions of

We installed Office 2007 here a few months ago, and I do notice
sluggishness. I don't think it is a screen reader issue though. You
could probably smoke a cigarette before Outlook or any of the apps load.
Mail messages take a long time to open, but I notice that the
sluggishness is the most noticeable at the beginning, and things seem to
improve after a little while. I think that some of the problem with
Outlook 2007 has to do with the fact that it uses Word as its editor, so
you have to wait for Word to load in the background.

I'm not much for trying betas so I have no experience with Jaws 11.
 Does
Jaws 11 perform any better with Office 2007 sp 2? I'm particularly
interested in how Jaws 11 will work with Outlook 2007 with respect to
 the
sluggishness that Jaws 10 seems to have.

 Any information will be appreciated.

I'm encountering more and more web sites that employ this silver light.

Sighted people are telling me there's a lot of text and controls being
displayed on the site that jaws is reading as a blank screen.

Is there any way to access these sites?

Hi, trying 64 bit Windows. Most 32 bit programs work on 64 bit Windows, with
exceptions, like JAWS itself and ay other software that use low level
drivers, such as antivirus. Microsoft has their free security essentials
available for both 32 and 64 bit systems. Don't know of a registry editor
off hand (Windows 7, like its predecessors has one built in, regedit.). Hope
this helps.
