I am having problem with using saying all when I am reading a e-book
using notepad. I have to do insert down arrow several times to read the
book all the way. When I normally use insert down arrow it reads one
sentence and stop reading. Need to do it several times to get it to
work. Any suggestion? Using jaw 11.

Kind Regard

You haven't said bwhich version of MS office you're looking for
tutorials for. (We will assume dealing with JAWS: The tutorials I'm
going to give links for aren't necessarily 'text tutorials', but do tell
the user what and how to operate from the keyboard.) You could look
through:

http://www.accesstechnologyinstitute.com/

who may have stuff.

Now, here are two other sites that may be of help. the first of those
is for earlier versions of Microsoft office; and the second is for
Internet Explorer 8 with JAWS. (on this 2nd site there are also many
other JAWS-based tutorials for several other programs). .

Hi David,

I am not at a computer right now with Word 2003, but I think the following
steps will work for that version. When I am at work tomorrow I will go
through the steps on a system with Word 2003 to make sure, and if there are
any differences to the following steps I will let you know. The following
information is what I sent another member of the list earlier today. She is
using XP and Word 2003. I included steps for putting the .DIC files into
the appropriate folder in the earlier post to the list concerning using the
files in Vista and Word 2007. If you want me to put together another post
with instructions for XP and Vista, and for Word 2007 and 2003 then let me
know and I will work on it.

The following instructions apply when using Windows XP and Word 2003:

1. Select the two files that end with .DIC and copy them to the clipboard.
2. Open my computer or Windows Explorer.
3. Open your local hard drive.
4. Open your documents and settings folder.
5. Open your user folder.
6. Open applications data. If it is not showing in the list then you
will need to go into folder options of the tools menu, move focus to the
view tab, find the list of items and find the choice to show hidden files.
If the show hidden files is not checked then use spacebar to check it. Tab
to the apply button and press spacebar on it. Use the OK or close button
out of the dialogs.
7. After opening the applications data folder open the Microsoft folder and
then the proof folder.
8. In the proof folder you will already have the custom.dic file.
Paste the files from the clipboard in this folder.
9. Close the window by using alt+f4.
10. Open Microsoft Word 2003.
11. Press Alt+T followed by the letter 'o.
12. Use CTRL+tab until the spelling tab is in focus.
13. Tab to the custom dictionaries button and press spacebar.
14. Use tab or shift+tab to find the list of dictionaries. Along with the
custom.dic you should now have the other two dictionaries listed.
15. Use arrow keys to move on to each dictionary choice. the custom.dic
will already be checked. Use spacebar to check the other two that you
added.
16. Tab to OK (or apply if there is an apply button) and press spacebar.
17. Use OK or close buttons until out of the dialogs.

Now if you type such words as jejunitis or hepatosplenomegaly, Word will
recognize them as being correctly spelled.

Take care.

I have finally gotten around to installing it to my Windows 7 machine, thanks
to Donald pointing me in the right direction.
Apparently, it seems that there are 2 versions so-to-speak.
One is, web-based, and the other is a client installed on the computer.
The web-based requires you to sign in to your Microsoft Live account, and
looks to me like Microsoft does store your contact info on their server.
When I accessed the Live account yesterday, I chose to import my contacts,
and what popped up were the contacts that I previously
had in Windows Messenger, which is not even on this machine.
The client does have a similar look to Outlook Express.
If I seemed to discount anyone's posts on this subject, I apologize for
that, it was not my intent.
This is a list for learning, as well as helping each other,
and I certainly learned something today.

[JAWS-Users] can system restore put back an uninstalled program?

2009-11-09 Thread Leonard Morris
As the subject line states,
can system restore put back an uninstalled program? I uninstalled an earlier
version of Silverlight because according to instructions all previous versions
must be uninstalled first before the program can be updated. Now, the latest
version won't install. So, if I roll back the computer to an earlier date prior
to uninstalling silverlight will system restore put it back? BTW, I think
silverlight is required to be able to listen to audio content for NBA
basketball games. This is just a theory but I think the reason it wasn't
working before is you have to turn flash movies on in jaws.
