Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2007 question
For some messages you will need to do an alt H, followed by the letter x and then the letter v. This will open your browser to read the message. - Original Message - From: Shane Hecker shanehec...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Thursday, December 17, 2009 11:50 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2007 question When I try to read a message in outlook 2007, sometimes jaws won't read it. It will just read the top of the message where the pictures are. An example of a message that jaws has problems with is at the bottom of this message. I can't use the pc cursor to get past this. The only way is to use the jaws cursor, go past the pictures and into the text, then click. Then jaws will read the message. What's strange is when I check the status line. It will read part of the text in the message. I tried resetting the views as per the technical support bulletin but this doesn't help. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you fix it? Contact an online mentor today to talk about faith, life, or whatever is on your mind. As church pianist I started to play the introduction for the choir during the morning service. After several measures, I glanced at the keyboard and was so startled that I almost missed a beat. There, on middle D, lay a stunned cockroach flailing its legs. Obviously it had run into the path of my flying fingers. What could I do? Gritting my teeth, I went on, gingerly trying to avoid middle D, but not always able to do so. (The choir number would be in the Key of D!) Finally, halfway through the first verse I was able to flick the now-deceased roach onto the floor. (Well, that's one way to kill a roach!) Some problems we may face are not so easily resolved as a cockroach on a keyboard. They might not be brushed off during the first phase of the situation. We may have to live with them longer than the first verse. But I have learned that if I just keep looking to the Lord for grace and trusting Him with a problem, He takes care of it one way or another. Sometimes as we pray, He shows us ways to make the situation easier, as I did by avoiding the middle D while I played. Sometimes He shows us how to deal with the situation, as I did by flicking that roach to the floor during a whole note in the melody. (Thank heavens for piano hold foot pedals!) Then during or after the resolving of the problem, there's the cleanup. After church I went to the rest room and washed my hands off using liquid soap. But in dealing with life's problems, we may often need a more comprehensive spiritual cleanup. It may be necessary to ask the Lord to forgive us if we have sinned. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We may discover a need to forgive any who have hurt us. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you (Ephesians 4:32). And let's never forget the One Who guided and helped us! Let's thank and praise Him for His help and deliverance. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; his love endures forever (Psalms 107:1) Question: Are there problems you're facing that you haven't yet brought to the Lord in prayer? What would be cool with research it is to have driving directions for one of the wigets. Like a mapqwest kind of thing. She's sighted, but I help her out whenever possible and this time to time requires the tracking of a package. It would be most helpful and fast to have a research it option for this as well. On a side note, other than requesting or suggesting research it loptions on a public mailing list, is there any other way to give feedback on this jfw feature for future considerations? You can get it now on the download pages of Freedom Scientific or via the Check for Updates Option. Please remember that if you have made some changes to your Research It items, you may need to go to the configuration manager and check all the items after installing this new update. Here are the details on the changes below. Regards, Eric Damery Enhanced Typing Support for Focus Braille Displays For several versions, JAWS has had the ability to receive text input from the Focus 40 and 80, and Focus 40 Blue braille displays using the included Perkins-style braille keyboard. Use LEFT SHIFT+SPACEBAR+RIGHT SHIFT, the three buttons at the front of the device, to toggle Typing Mode on and off on the Focus display. Now this functionality has been expanded so that the Focus can do almost everything you can do while using PAC Mate Remote. When you toggle on Typing Mode, not only can you input text via computer braille, but you can also control your computer from the Focus, just as you can with PAC Mate Remote using a PAC Mate BX or QX. For more information, refer to the PAC Mate Remote Help topic in JAWS for the list of keystrokes.: Open the JAWS Help system and navigate to the Keystrokes book. Press RIGHT ARROW to expand the book then DOWN ARROW to the Keystrokes for PAC Mate BX Remote Mode topic. Press ENTER on this topic, and then F6 to move into the reading pane. You must have JAWS 11.0.756 or later installed to use this enhanced Typing Mode functionality. Enhancements in JAWS 11.0.756 (December 2009) The following is a list of items addressed or added between the final JAWS 11.0.746 release and the JAWS 11.0.756 posting. All enhancements since the initial public beta release are included in this release. * Resolved an issue in Windows 7 where properly authorized JAWS licenses were being asked to reactivate after rebooting. * Improvements have been made to the way JAWS recognizes all data tables that are tagged with the TH component. * Resolved an issue with FSReader 2.0 where audio content was not being played after pressing CTRL+P. * The Set Row Total and the Set Column Total functions now correctly define and report the row or column total for the selected cell in an Excel worksheet. * Resolved an issue in Excel where some settings were not correctly saved after closing the Adjust JAWS Options dialog box. * JAWS correctly identifies tables using the Navigation Quick Key T when running Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8. * Resolved an issue where JAWS would frequently shut down when running Windows Explorer in Windows 7. * When using Firefox, JAWS correctly enters Forms Mode and reads table headings. * Resolved a reported issue when using Terminal Services or Remote desktop if connecting to a computer running Windows 7. * Resolved a reported issue in Internet Explorer edit controls where text being selected was not being announced as expected. The following lookup sources have been added to the JAWS Research It feature in this release. Remember that you can quickly access

Also, automatic read to end has problems with JAWS 11 and outlook 2007. After a certain number of messages, it just stops. The actual number may vary, sometimes it's 10, sometimes it's 50, but it happens sooner or later. Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook 2007 question
I'm wondering what fs has to say about this. Do they plan on fixing these problems? On a related note, what about windows live mail? It has several features that are very similar to outlook. Does fs plan to fully support this program? Reason I ask is because it sort of works (but not completely). For example, you can move through the calendar, but it doesn't tell you if there's an event at a particular time slot. You can create a new message, but when you go to the message body, the computer starts going ding-ding-ding-ding and going haywire. You can get to the folder list, but the first letter navigation doesn't work. Same is true when you bring up a link list (insert+f7). [JAWS-Users] Braille display stays blank after suspend to disk
Hello, I am using jaws 10 on an intel mac running windows xp SP3 . It is equipped with an intel gma3100 graphics adaptor with 965 express chipset. My display is Papenmeier el40s connected via an usb to serial adaptor (ftdi chipset) built into the display itself. When I go into standby the display stays blank after waking the machine from acpi s3. Restarting Jaws fixes this. When I go into suspend to disk i.e complete shutdown with the ram contents written to hiberfil.sys the display stays blank after waking the machine even if I restart jaws. Even more strange some times the start menu gets displayed on the braille display whereas outlook express message list view does not get displayed. Any clue on how to fix this?
