Re: [JAWS-Users] Installing Handytech EasyBraille HID on a USB

2009-12-23 Thread Marijan Janev

Hi Flor,
Yes, first of all I removed the optelec driver for my Braille voyager
and then tried to install EasyBraille.
The problem is in the fact that this unit can be connectet only via USB
or bluetooth and there is no serial connection. So changing the com port
from com1 to com4 or com8 won't help.

Unfortunately, I don't know the sintax to change the port into the jfw.ini.
thanks.

Flor Lynch said the following on 23.12.2009 02:46:

Hi,

You have another braille display installed? (It might be trying to
act as the default. Select the HandyTech in braille Options, then
restart.) Can you not change the com port in use - to, say, com4 - by
arrowing to it and then proceeding through the dialogue?

Hello,
I try to install new Handytech EasyBraille HID Braille display under
jaws10 but no luck.
I start the jaws driver from the EasyBraille CD but the installation
process can't finish because jaws crashes every time after the
installation.
Despite of the fact that this unit connects via USB port, jaws trys
to call it from the com1.

This is from the jfw.ini after the installation:
Braille1Name=Handy
Braille1LongName=Handy Tech
Braille1Port=Com1:19200,o,8,1
Braille1Driver=handy

Anybody have an idea how to cure this manualy?
Thanks!

2009-12-23 Thread Marijan Janev

Hi Jeronimo,
The manual says that this unit is equipped with HID, the acronyme of
so-called human interface device, which means that operating system has
to recognize it automaticaly and it does every time I put the USB cable
into PC's USB port. But I don't know why jaws doesn't recognize it as a
USB device after the installation of jaws driver for it, that's the
question.
Thanks for the advice about the usb to serial converter, it seems I
should ask the dealer for it.

Jeronimo Schöber said the following on 23.12.2009 07:30:

Hi,
the display mostlikely uses an ftdi usb2serial adaptor. Maybe this
device driver has to be installed prior to the jlb file which contains
the jaws driver.
At least that is the case with my Papenmeier display and I no that
Handytech used ftdi usb2serial for a long time as well.

Actually you have ttwo devices if you install the braille display.

Hi,
I think as long as you don't have a device in device manager which actually
provides a serial com port you don't have a chance.

My device manager shows me:
Papenmeier Braillex II USB Device.
This provides the com-port necessary. Internally all braille displays use
com-ports even nowadays.

2009-12-23 Thread Denny Huff
This is done in your contact list. If you will go to your address book,
control shift b. Find the contact you want to change and press enter.
As you tab you will see, file as. Here you can press your down arrow and it
will give you the option of showing the first name first. This one
determines how the name is seen in your contact list.
Next press your tab key a few more times and you will see, display as. Here
you can type in how you want this contact to be displayed. This one is the
one that will determine how the contacts name is displayed when you send
them a message.

Re: [JAWS-Users] p c problem

2009-12-23 Thread David Griffith
I think the clue is in the cannot read drive c message. It sounds like at
the very least that you should run a disk repair on this drive. Go to the
drive properties in My computer and then go to the Tools tab to do this.

Unfortunately if your image is corrupted through drive errors you may not
have any alternative but to use either a factory restore utility or make a
fresh install of windows and all your drivers to get your system back to
optimum performance. If I had to do this I would personally get an engineer
to replace the existing C drive and reinstall windows for me. . I fear that
you may need sighted help unless you have an unattended install package set
up..

If, on the other hand , the disk repair is sufficiently successful to make
your PC work effectively you could of course make another image backup but I
really do not recommend that you do this on drive C anyway.
.

David Griffith

You can try to run scandisk and check both boxes. It will take some
time to run, but might clean up enough for you to put the image on.
You can find this by highlighting the drive in explorer or
myComputer, right click or application key. Then hit enter on
properties... Now control+ tab to tools tab menu, and tab to error
check now... hit enter.
This will run the next boot, and will take some time so don't worry
if it don't boot up right away.
make a note on how much space on the drive you have now, because you
are going to lose some from the corruption.

At 10:29 AM 12/23/2009, you wrote:

Re: [JAWS-Users] help with reading a excel file with jaws 7.0

2009-12-23 Thread Russ Hubley

Hi Mich,
In order for you to understand an Excel document, it is very helpful that
you are able to hear the titles of the rows and columns. This way, you can
better understand the information presented.
Usually, going across the top of the page, you will hear information/a
heading for each column. As you arrow down through the rows, you can then
right arrow through each one.
I am sending you some information that will help you set up the row and
titles so that you can hear them.

Using Names to Create Column and Row Titles

1. Open Excel. A new workbook containing three worksheets appears. The
focus is on cell A1 of worksheet one.

2. Press ALT+I to open the Insert menu.
3. Press N to move to and open the Name submenu. The first item in this
submenu is Define.
4. Press ENTER and the Define Name dialog box opens. The cursor is in the
Names in Workbook edit field.
5. Type in the word Title (capital T) and press ENTER to close the dialog
box. Focus is returned to the worksheet again in cell A1.

Now, arrow down to row2. As you arrow across, you will hear each column's
information along with the information from the row which you are in.

You can save this file and these settings will remain there.

Hope this makes sense,
Russ

 Subject: [JAWS-Users] creating a rule

Can someone provide steps on how to create an email rule for an email
 list?

This particular email list doesn't have particular words in the subject
 particularly.

If this matters the email address is gw-i...@gwomicro.com, I don't know
where to put the email address when creating the rule.

 Thanks a bunch folks!

Hi Mich,
In order for you to understand an Excel document, it is very helpful that
you are able to hear the titles of the rows and columns.

Hope this makes sense,
Russ

Northstar,

I've been using Eudora since 1996 with no additional scripts beyond
what is built into Jaws. Would you care to enlighten us as to what
you cannot do with Eudora using just the Jaws scripts?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Yahoo Messenger 9.

2009-12-23 Thread Emanuel Boboiu
There are scripts, but it is sure that they work correctly with Yahoo
Messenger 10, this is the last release.

These scripts work with Jaws 10 and 11.
At next link, starting with line 50 is the message with instructions. Press
j and type 50.

http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com/msg29108.html

Yahoo Messenger 9 has a big problem with a Class of the Instant Messenger
Window and Jaws can not determine that the cursor is positioned in the right
window. That problem is easyly resolvable, but... I think that it is better
to use YM 10, not 9.

sure, i have added the ability to toggle the return receipt flag,
delete messages by subject or by sender, toggle the taboo headers
on/off, reveal all headers of a message and even added a script to
edit the opened message.

Is there a program or scrypt that I could put on my laptop that could make
