[JAWS-Users] How toTurn off Table Information in HTMl

2010-02-20 Thread Animals and Us
I have been using Jaws for ten years and have Jas 6.0.

Yesterday I had to reload Jaws on to the computer because of some glitches and
I'm having difficulty customising it again.

I like to have a lot of things switched off. At the moment I can't find out how
to stop Jaws from reading out the number of columns and rows in a table also, I
can't stop it from announcing the end of the table.

E.G.
Table with 2 columns and 5 rows
and then it will say
table end

I have unchecked the list box for lists in Configuration Manager and also been
through just about all other items in the menus and tabs, including graphics,
miscellaneous, lists and tables ETC.

Can anyone tell me how to do this.

Thanks

Aine

Hello Donnie,
I never used to have more than 8 or 9 icons on my desk top, but I started
adding some, and now I have 42.

I see absolutely no difference in the speed of my computer between when I
had a few and now 42 on my Desk Top!

Is it true that if one has a lot of icons on their desktop that it will
slow down your computer? If

so, how many should one keep on their desktop for maximum speed?

Thanks,
Donnie

You have to remove IE 8 from Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel to
roll back to IE 7. Performing a System Restore without first removeing IE
8

will not work. You should restore your computer to the state it was in
after IE 8 was installed, and then remove it using Add/Remove Programs.
IE

8 will be listed under "Windows Internet Explorer". You cannot have two
versions of IE installed at the same time, which is probably why you could
not install IE 7 from aflash drive. There are third-party suites that
contain all versions of IE, but my experience is that they don't work and
may really screw up your computer. I am using IE 8 with JAWS 9 and XP Pro
and have had no problems. Good luck.

Re: [JAWS-Users] How toTurn off Table Information in HTMl

2010-02-20 Thread Donald Marang
In the Text Processing menu of Configuration Manager, there is a checkbox
"Indicate tables". I think it is here because JAWS handles tables in word
and other applications that do not use HTML the same way. Uncheck this box,
probably in the default Configuration file so you never hear these
announcements.

Re: [JAWS-Users] question on pre-loaded back up/syncsoftwareon Seagate FreeAgent Go 1 TB USB 2.0 PortableExternalHard Drive and jaws

2010-02-20 Thread Donald Marang
Back to the original question, I tend to keep automatic backups simple. I
use "Karen's Replicator" found on the jaws-users program page. It is
completely accessible, efficient, and does not take up resources. The only
way I can tell if it is currently copying files is to check the System Tray.
It never slows down my computer. I backup all my data to another computer
in my house every day. I also perform archives that keep separate copies of
vital data, such as my Financial and Medical folders. Using tags as
subfolder names for month and year, it keeps an archive copy every month. I
also installed it on my daughter's computer not only to backup her data, but
to make a local copy of her drawing folder where she works on her art
projects. After she had a major breakdown the night before a major project
was due because gimp destroyed her drawing! So now I made it automatic that
a copy of that folder is made every 15 minutes using the hour as a tag for
the subfolder. Now every drawing she works on has 24 copies and if she has
a catastrophe, she can go back in time 24 hours to a time where her drawing
was in tact. That's even better than the Omega 13!

I saw it on amazon, but New Egg, Tiger Direct Buy.com and so on carry it
too. Just copy and paste the following into either Amazon's search field
or

any old search engine:
Seagate FreeAgent Go 1 TB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive

I've got about 900 gb of stuff and I'm looking for a back up for my other
external drive and figured why not get a portable one instead of another
power cord desk top set up type of deal. That's why I'm interested in this
particular model. I believe Western Digital has a portable drive with the
same capacity, but the SeaGate has better reviews. The back up program is
the only thing I wanted a bit more information. Other then that, it looks
like a solid buy.

Seagate FreeAgent Go 1 TB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive and jaws

Hello list,

I am looking to buy the Seagate FreeAgent Go 1 TB USB 2.0 Portable
External
Hard Drive and was wondering if anyone's had a chance to deal with the
included synchronization software that comes with it? Drives I've had in
the
past have come with back up/sync programs and for the most part, they
havent' been that accessible. Memio comes to mind. In any event, I was
just
curious if from other's experiences if this pre-loaded software is pretty
much the same or if it's more manageable with Jaws.

You can check out the page for more specs at:

http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-FreeAgent-Portable-External-ST910004FAA2E1-RK/

dp/B002SYYO3A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1266614599&sr=1-2

If worse comes to worse, I guess I can do the whole cut and paste method,
but I would if possible like to be able to do automatic back ups and so
on.
Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

[JAWS-Users] windows 7 and my documents

The wolf again
Do the jaws users find windows 7 ultra slow loading, it must eat memory or
is it jaws? I know my system has more than enough memory dual core
processor and 4 gig of ram. Although I haven't experienced many blue
screens of death, I have still been experiencing the odd freeze when
accessing my documents from my desk top and loading windows explorer . I get
the message when entering my documents, it announces items view multi select
list box, n-h expanded and all folders and files are accessible but
sometimes I have to re-enter or tab around, and go around the houses. it
also announces amongst my folders, something like, in-p expanded group box
expanded. and qn-z group box expanded.
How is the best way to be consistent and any setting to make jaws more user

Is Jaws 11 going to run smoothly with Windows Seven?

Secondly, Do I need to save everything before installing Windows Seven?

In the Text Processing menu of Configuration Manager, there is a checkbox
"Indicate tables". I think it is here because JAWS handles tables in word
and other applications that do not use HTML the same way. Uncheck this box,
probably in the default Configuration file so you never hear these
announcements.

The place you need to do this is in the main configuration file for

I like to have a lot of things switched off. At the moment I can't

Re: [JAWS-Users] How toTurn off Table Information in HTMl

2010-02-20 Thread Donald Marang
That was my first thought as well. However, that option is not there.
Since there are non HTML tables handled in several applications as well,
like Word and Acrobat Reader.

I should have made it clear that it would make sense in his case to press
Control + Shift + D in Configuration Manager before making changes to the
settings so the change will be made system wide.
