Re: [JAWS-Users] Microsoft question

2010-07-25 Thread Mike & Barbara Arcadia
Hi Rich;

After you invoke the control + E keystroke to center the text are you
invoking the control + e keystroke again to turn centering off? I think
that is what you are supposed to do. Below is a brief note that I saved on
centering text.

If you haven't typed the text you want centered yet, press CTRL+E to turn
centering on, type the text, then press CTRL+E to turn centering off. don't
forget
to press ENTER twice to put a blank line between the heading and the first
line of the next block of text.

If you have already typed some text and you then decide that you want the
text to be centered, place the cursor in the space immediately following the
last
character, then select back to the first character of the text you want
centered, then press CTRL+E. The text you selected, will be centered.

Sincerely:

Dave Durber

Hope that helped. Take care.
Mike

No, it should work that way.

Are you checking your cursor position with alt-delete?

How I have to agree with you. But if in doubt, read the Microsoft

a simple un-install will roll back to I E 7.

Hi Rich;

Below is a note I saved on this subject.
From: "Annette Carr" <
amca...@verizon.net>

The email address will be the cell phone number followed by the carrier
extension. For example if the phone number is 202-555-1234 and you know the
carrier
for that number is Verizon, then the e-mail address will be

202-555-1...@vtext.com

Here are some of the carrier extensions.

Verizon Wireless:(cell#)@vtext.com

AT&T:(cell#)@mobile.att.net

Cingular:(cell#)@mycingular.com

Nextel:(cell#)@messaging.nextel.com

T-Mobile:(cell#)@tmomail.net

Sprint:(cell#)@messaging.sprintpcs.com

Tracfone:(cell#)@cingularme.com

I hope these are still correct.

HTH, Annette
From: "DoubleLegal" <

To send Email from your computer to a cell phone that has internet
connection, just put the phone number in place of "phonenumber" in each of
the following.
No dashes or anything between the numbers. Put it in the "Send To" section
in your Email, just like a regular Email address.

It's all free for you to send the Email, but remember some people have to
pay a charge for each incoming text message they get, so might wanna check
with
them if it will cost them if you send an Email to them.

===

If you don't know which carrier you are sending to:

Teleflip.com sends Email to ANY carrier:

phonenum...@teleflip.com

===

A T & T:

phonenum...@cingularme.com

===

T-Mobile:

phonenum...@tmomail.net

===

Virgin Mobile:

phonenum...@vmobl.com

===

Sprint:

phonenum...@messaging.sprintpcs.com

===

Verizon:

phonenum...@vtext.com

===

Nextel:

Hope this helped. Take care.

I have the talking desk top clock installed if that clarifies things a
little. Among the SAPI 5 voices which may have come with Jaws, I am not
quite sure about this, there is a Paullina voice. This voice showed up in
the choices given me among the voices I had to choose from when I chose the
voice to tell me the time. Voila, my clock speaks the time in Spanish.

Make sure the appropriate time interval check boxes are checked.

Be sure

to select "Use Microsoft Speech as your default speech option.

If you

don't have SAPI 5 voices on your system, the default voice will

be

Microsoft SAM. Finally, make sure the starting and ending times

are set.

You have to use the up and down arrow keys and the numpad 5 key

Dear David and Fellow List Members,
But I thought all versions of Windows comes with a talking clock!

I mean, I hold down the JAWS key, (0 on the num pad) and hit F12 and I
get

JAWS speaking the time.
To get the Day and Date I hit it twice in rapid succession.

If you do not mind, I will tell you what a group of Blind Chess
enthusiasts

are desperately looking for, a computerized Chess Clock, that is a clock
with two times, one for you and one for your opponent, which you can
stop

and start, like a pair of "Timers".

Has anyone seen anything like this that is JAWS friendly?

I have seen some "Chess Clocks" on web sites before, but they do not work
at

all with JAWS.

Thanks for any assistance in this matter.

officially supported version. You're correct on the second statement.

When you remove Internet Explorer 8, your earlier version of Internet

Favorites, and your home page). However, Internet Explorer 8 is a part
of Windows 7. Therefore, if you remove Internet Explorer 8, you will

Kate, you're fine, go head and try it if you want to, I'm only making
this warning for windows 7 users, which you're not.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Internet problem

2010-07-25 Thread tim
All third party apps, install there upgrades and anything to do with
them in there respected folder in c:\program files.
upgrades to windows is always installed to folders in c:\windows with
a correlating file for removal. Just doing a restore to remove a
windows component can break the dll chain, and be a real bear to fix.

At 09:43 AM 7/25/2010, you wrote:

For one, most programs don't install to the windows folder.

They install to

c:\program files, and, if you're using a 64 bit version of windows, but
install a 32 bit based program, as most are these days lamentably, it'll go
to

c:\program files x86

Thus, when you say it doesn't go into the windows folder, I'm kind of
confused. Why would it do that anyway. Are you speaking more of native
apps that come with Windows itself? Those I could see maybe having some
things in the winedows folder, or more likely the windows\system32 folder.

Chris.

Probably because it was third party software? When it comes to
software that is part of the op. That won't get rolled back, because
the roll back won't know to go into the windows folder and get the
past version info like a un install does automatically.

Dear David and Fellow List Members,
But I thought all versions of Windows comes with a talking clock!

I mean, I hold down the JAWS key, (0 on the num pad) and hit F12 and I get
JAWS speaking the time.
To get the Day and Date I hit it twice in rapid succession.

If you do not mind, I will tell you what a group of Blind Chess
enthusiasts

are desperately looking for, a computerized Chess Clock, that is a clock
with two times, one for you and one for your opponent, which you can stop
and start, like a pair of "Timers".

Has anyone seen anything like this that is JAWS friendly?

I have seen some "Chess Clocks" on web sites before, but they do not work
at

all with JAWS.

Thanks for any assistance in this matter.

I got a meeting request. My mom told me that for her, on her pc at work,
she usually has an accept button, and a reject button. I'm not seeing that
on my end, and with her being sighted, neither does she. So, when we hit
enter to open up the meeting request, what then do we need to do either to:

1.Accept it

2. Deny it.

3. Or finally, propose a new time

Thanks.

3. Jaws Key + J for Jaws options, then Individual voices I went through

Paul works as the default temporarily. If I invoke the Jaws key + F4

doesn't stay on it much and couldn't care less, then why not put her on a
demo of jfw 11. I mean, 40 minutes isn't the greatest, but come on! 40

Believe me I know. I've benchmarked it, just for the heck of it to see.

If all a person wishes to do is roll back their respective version of IE
then simply do the following:

open up the run dialog with a windows key + R
then type control and hit enter
then find add or remove programs or what ever it's called
arrow down to internet explorer 8 for example and then tab over to the
remove button

that boys and girls is all you need to do. I agree with the analogy that a
system restore might be a bit over the top in this occasion.

To use an analogy, since in XP you can uninstall IE8 and rollback that
way, you are only undoing one thing. If she did a System Restore, she
would lose other updates that her brother did. It's kind of like taking a
sledge hammer to pound in a nail.

No, no!! Undder no circumstances should you attempt a System Restore

impossible to roll back to IE 7. Remember: performing a System Restore

have an accessible chess game on here but have not taken the time yet to
play it and I even did some beta testing on the thing so I know it works
with screen readers.

If you do not mind, I will tell you what a group of Blind Chess enthusiasts
are desperately looking for, a computerized Chess Clock, that is a clock
with two times, one for you and one for your opponent, which you can stop
and start, like a pair of "Timers".

Has anyone seen anything like this that is JAWS friendly?

I have seen some "Chess Clocks" on web sites before, but they do not work at
all with JAWS.

Thanks for any assistance in this matter.

Some of us want a clock that automatically announces the time at specific

Re: [JAWS-Users] Kate & Paul for Jaws6

2010-07-25 Thread Mike & Barbara Arcadia
Hi Chris, Flor, & Negoslav;

First, I want to thank all of you for all the great input. I did get the
Paul voice working but, not for long. I invoked the Insert, control , + S
keystroke and switched to SAPI5. Switched to SAPI5 in Synthesizer Options
in the configuration manager, went into Jaws options and made all the
necessary voice changes / adjustments, had everything working good but, if I
close Jaws6 and try to start it, it doesn't work. I had to change it back
to eloquence so that Jaws6 will work correctly. I will keep playing with
it to see if I can make it work. Thanks again, take care.

For some that is not a doable option. If the jaws SMA hasn't ben kept
up. Then FS will make you pay up to current version until they will
let you pay for the SMA.
I know, because that is just what they told me last January when I
did just that from version 9 after 10 was released.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Kate & Paul for Jaws6

2010-07-25 Thread Chris Gilland
Yeah, I mean, Gosh, if she doesn't use the pc hardly at all, and really
doesn't stay on it much and couldn't care less, then why not put her on a
demo of jfw 11. I mean, 40 minutes isn't the greatest, but come on! 40
minutes is not! that short of time either. You can do quite a bit in that
amount of time.

Believe me I know. I've benchmarked it, just for the heck of it to see.

Not that I needed to, but...

Chris.

Hi Chris;

No Chris, not at all! Actually there are probably very few people that
still use Jaws6 although I have it installed on my computers but, use it
rarely. Unlike you, I never knew how to do what I am asking so I guess
that's 1 less thing that I probably would have forgotten! LOL Take care.

I'm saying, if they try to uninstall, but if it's not under add remove. It
should be, but if it's not, then they may wind up having no choice. Even
then! it may or may not work with the system restore.

He/she can, indeed. that's the only way to remove Internet Explorer 8
given there has already been a version of internet Explorer on the
computer. I think a system Restore would accomplish this also: why
would it not, since it is a Microsoft program: but is extra work when
compaired with the uninstall.

Just for laughs,

have you tried going to the synthesizer and braille manager, and tried to
add a synthesizer, and looked to see if sapi5 was in there? If it is,
checkit, and apply your change, then restart jfw.

There. problem fixed.

Hi Flor;

Thank you sir for your input. In Jaws6 there are no choices in basic
options to select other voices / synthesizers like there are in later
versions of Jaws that I can find. Please forgive my lack of knowledge but,
I just can't find an option in Jaws6 to select the particular voice that our
lady friend would like to use. If you don't mind, would you give me a real
hard shove in the right direction of how I can tell her how to do this?
Thank you so much for all of your help. Take care.

Mike,

Those voices - kate & Paul - are SAPI5; so you'd find them under SAPI5
once installed. have paul speaking, and then make him be the default in
JAWS basics voices submenu etc.

2010-07-25 Thread Chris Gilland
I think in jfw6 you're gonna have to edit the jfw.ini file. oh, that's
gonna be a pain somewhere else to do! I mean, it's easy enough, but if you
type the wrong thing, you could cause jfw to quit speaking.

Chris.

Hi Flor;

For some that is not a doable option. If the jaws SMA hasn't ben kept
up. Then FS will make you pay up to current version until they will
let you pay for the SMA.
I know, because that is just what they told me last January when I
did just that from version 9 after 10 was released.

You can go to control panel/speech/tts tab and make default the voice you
want. Then just do the rest in jaws, turn to sapi5 and it will be used. For
additional voice setting go to the jaws menu, options, voices, global
adjustment.
Havent' used jaws6 for long time, but I think it will be enough for what you

2010-07-25 Thread Chris Gilland
No need to go through all that in control panel. If you'd rather use
another default voice through control panel, than through jrfw, which a lot
of people do, then in jfw, go to the configuration manager, insert+num row
6, then go to default.jcf: ctrl+shift+d, als+s for set options, Go to
synthesizer options, make sapi 5 the default, hit ctrl+s to save, close
configuration manager, then go to your jaws, voices, individual voices, and
on each voice type, go to the person combo box, and set it accordingly.

Chris.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Internet problem

2010-07-25 Thread Chris Gilland

It would let you, but, I'd not advise doing it unless you want a 3rd party
browser. I know it will as I have a test machine over here that I couldn't
care less if gets crashed as I usually wind up crashing it all the time
anyway, almost on a weekly basis, trying to test certain senareos to see
what would happen or if certain things would work. I tried with that file,
and it did remove it. A course, part from then reinstalling windows 7, I
don't know any other way to get i e back, so, that's exactly what I did. I
restored my windows image. No big deal.

Well, yeah? that's cause neo speech is a sapi 5 synth, so go under there.
Then you gotta go under jaws voices individual voices, and switch them out

Re: [JAWS-Users] un install I E 8

2010-07-25 Thread tim
You can't use any version of jaws below 11 on windows7. So there is
no need to un install IE8, and it won't let you anyway.

For XP users, this is great, which, Kate, is. But, for windows 7
users? Don't do it! This is pasted directly from the provided link.

When you remove Internet Explorer 8, your earlier version of
Internet Explorer is restored with your customizations (such as
add-ins, Favorites, and your home page). However, Internet Explorer
8 is a part of Windows 7. Therefore, if you remove Internet Explorer
8, you will have to install a third-party browser

Kate, you're fine, go head and try it if you want to, I'm only
making this warning for windows 7 users, which you're not.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Internet problem

Probably because it was third party software? When it comes to
software that is part of the op. That won't get rolled back, because
the roll back won't know to go into the windows folder and get the
past version info like a un install does automatically.

No, no!! Undder no circumstances should you attempt a System
Restore before attempting to remove IE 8 using Add/Remove Programs
on the Control Panel. This will really screw things up and make it
almost impossible to roll back to IE 7. Remember: performing a
System Restore does not remove the currently installed version of a program.

I'm not totally sure that he can. IE pretty much locks itself
into your OS tighter than...

It may be under add/remove programs in the control panel, but just
be ware: don't count on it. System restore may be a better
option. I'm honestly not sure. Being I have jfw 11, I've never
had to really honestly worry about this.

Tell your brother to uninstall Internet Explorer 8 so that you
have IE 7, which works with JAWS8.

Which version of Internet Explorer are you running? Did this
problem just start suddenly, or did you make any changes to your system?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Kate & Paul for Jaws6

2010-07-25 Thread Negoslav Sabev

You can go to control panel/speech/tts tab and make default the voice you
want. Then just do the rest in jaws, turn to sapi5 and it will be used. For
additional voice setting go to the jaws menu, options, voices, global
adjustment.

Havent' used jaws6 for long time, but I think it will be enough for what you
want.

Hi Flor;

Thank you sir for your input. In Jaws6 there are no choices in basic
options to select other voices / synthesizers like there are in later
versions of Jaws that I can find. Please forgive my lack of knowledge
but,
I just can't find an option in Jaws6 to select the particular voice that
our
lady friend would like to use. If you don't mind, would you give me a
real
hard shove in the right direction of how I can tell her how to do this?
Thank you so much for all of your help. Take care.
Mike

Mike,

Those voices - kate & Paul - are SAPI5; so you'd find them under SAPI5
once installed. have paul speaking, and then make him be the default in
JAWS basics voices submenu etc.

Hi All;

A friend was using Paul as her default voice running Jaws6. Well, she
had
her power supply replaced and when she got the computer back,Paul was
no
more. To my understanding Paul & Kate are not in the control panel in
Add /
Remove programs. Where would she find the Paul & Kate voice files and
how
would she make Paul her default voice, instead of Reed, for Jaws6?
She is
running 2002 XPSP2 Home. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thank
you
all very much. Take care.
Mike

Hi Leonard;

Do you mean " group messages by conversation " enabled and not " follow
conversation " checked in " Sort By " in the views menu? Try the
following

to fix your current problem;
1. Press control, shift, + O to open OE options.
2. Control + Tab to the Read page.
3. Tab to " Automatically expand grouped messages " and if this box is
checked, uncheck it.
4. Tab to apply, press spacebar or enter, and tab to okay and press
spacebar

or enter.

Hope this helps. Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] follow conversation

On my other computer prior to changing from xp to windows seven I had
follow

conversation enabled in outlook express. I had it whereby when you arrowed
through messages it would say collapse. Of course now I have to use a
different email client like windows live. However, on my netbook I still
have xp and outlook express. I have follow conversation enabled but it
keeps
landing on expanded instead of collapse. I have to always left arrow to
get
to collapse so I can delete the entire conversation. What do I need to do
to

fix this issue? Thanks. .
