Hello rich,

You can make the change in configuration manager for HJ Pad. Use JAWS key
with the number six on the alphanumeric part of the keyboard while working
in HJ Pad to launch the program's configuration manager. Use Alt+S to
bring

up the settings menu. Use down arrow to graphics and symbols and press
enter key. Use tab key a few times and you will find a group of radio
buttons. Use up or down arrow key in the group of radio buttons. Choices
will be all, labeled and no graphics. With focus on the no
graphics
radio button, use tab key to the OK button and press enter key. Use
CTRL+S

to save changes and Alt+f4 to close the configuration manager for HJ Pad.

Take care.

[JAWS-Users] Openbook 9 success and questions

2010-08-21 Thread Russ Hubley
I early wrote with some difficulties I was having with openbook 9. I can now
scan documents but have a few questions.

1. When I go to the workflow sub menu, I find that a choice is
checked. This is the only option I can use unless I go to the settings menu,
workflow. Here I must choose the workflow I want to make current. Now, back
in the acquire menu workflows, this option will be checked.

While studying the podcast for April, it seemed that the person
demonstrating this product could simply choose the workflow he wanted right
from the acquire/workflow menu. Is there a way to set this so that I can
avoid the above steps in this settings menu?

I also find that it is taking my Pearl to take much time to scan and have
this come up on the screen. I am running a Toshiba ultra portable laptop
with 2 gigs of ram.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

hello,

I must add to this discussion that using any software to capture/download
songs and such off youtube gives you a poor quality mp3 file despite
whatever settings you may have on the converter software. so the big
gotcha here is noticeably inferior sound quality. If that doesn't bother
you then such converters are for you.

processing the image as I scanned.

Is there a way to set this scanning as was done with the large batch feature
found in the previous openbook versions. Here, you processed the pages after
you were totally done.

I think this is slowing my laptop down.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Apple ID

2010-08-21 Thread Don and Cher Bosch
Just went through the same thing. It helped to bring up the JAWS forms list,
and I got most of the fields filled out, but I eventually gave up. I chose
'none' for credit card and the ATT store thought that registration would
not go through like that- even though the I-Tunes instruction on that screen
says it is OK to add a card later. I never did succeed, and ended up with
the ATT rep doing it for me from the store when I picked up my phone. I
then asked him to help download the caseprogram app so I would not have to
be in a panic to get proficient enough to do that in the next 30 days ;) If
JAWS access to I-Tunes has improved so much, I can't imagine what it was
like before! I don't know what kind of controls are on that site, but JAWS
was unable to handle them in any reasonable way :(

Russ,

Okay, I think they may have an issue here. The Perl worked fine on my
32-bit XP machine. When I hooked it up on my wife's Win 7 64-bit machine,
it clicks as if it would recognize a page, but every page it scans is blank.
My wife also uses Jaws on that machine. So far, the different
troubleshooting steps I've taken have not resolved the issue on her Win 7
machine.

If I make more progress today, I'll let you know and if you hear any pearls

'none' for credit card and the ATT store thought that registration would
not go through like that- even though the I-Tunes instruction on that screen
says it is OK to add a card later. I never did succeed, and ended up with
the ATT rep doing it for me from the store when I picked up my phone. I
then asked him to help download the caseprogram app so I would not have to
be in a panic to get proficient enough to do that in the next 30 days ;) If
JAWS access to I-Tunes has improved so much, I can't imagine what it was

was unable to handle them in any reasonable way :(

Re: [JAWS-Users] Pearl not scanning

2010-08-21 Thread Russ Hubley
Thank you for replying.
I have it scanning now.
My hopeful last question concerns scanning a large book. I tried following
the below directions but the pages did not end up in order.

1. I began with the automatic workflow scanning the odd pages.
2. I pressed the escape to stop the auto scan and turned over the book so
that I could now scan the odd pages
3. I tabbed and then down arrowed to the turn over page button and began
scanning.
4. I stopped the scanning process.

When I started to read the book, the pages were not in their odd even order.
First came all the odd pages throughout the book.

Did I miss something? The purpose of this option was to save you from moving
the book everytime you scan a new page.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Russ

Hello all,
I've heard about this on another list so thought I would pass this on.
To make JAWS less chatty in Windows Explorer:
1. Open Windows Explorer. Then, press insert+6 to open Configuration
Manager. It should say, explorerframe.jcf - JAWS Configuration Manager.
This is fine as you should only do this for Windows Explorer.
2. Press alt+s to open the set options menu, then v to open the Verbosity
Options dialogue box.
3. Tab to the preferences button corresponding to your current verbosity
level and activate it.
4. Down arrow till you hear, control type checked. Press space and you
should hear, control type not checked.

5. Press enter to activate the ok button.
6. Back in the Verbosity Options dialogue box, tab to the ok button and
activate it.

7. Save your changes with ctrl+s.
8. Close Configuration Manager with alt+f4.
Hope this helps!

Re: [JAWS-Users] Making JAWS less chatty in Windows Explorer

2010-08-21 Thread Dale Leavens
Odd! That is what I thought too and when I use Windows+E I get the
announcement that windows explorer opens however Jaws+T tells me it is
internet explorer 6 and Jaws+Q announces browsui.dll as does Jaws+6 when
configuration manager comes up.

The actual version of Internet Explorer running on this machine is version
8.

Any ideas what is going on here?

Thanks.

2010-08-21 Thread Mike Barbara Arcadia
Hi Dale;

What email program are you running at the time you open Windows Explorer and
invoke the Jaws/insert + Q keystroke? When I open W E with my Outlook
Express running I get the IE6 message because, I'm assuming, Outlook
Express6 is open but, when I invoke the Jaws/insert + Q keystroke with IE8
open I get Internet Explorer8. I am probably not explaining * why * worth a
crap but, if I had even a clue of what I am talking about it would scare the
hell out of me! I am just a lamen user of this squawk box. Perhaps someone
with more experience will have a better explanation will chime in and
explain * why * to both of us. LOL Take care.
