[JAWS-Users] Jaws 12, Dkype and Scripts

2010-10-26 Thread Brad Dunse

Hello,

What would be the optomum version of Skype to use with Jaws 12 and if
any scripts other than what is in Jaws? I was running version 4.x
with Jaws 11 and some scripts from Doug Lee I think? However with
install of Jaws CTRL 1 and etc which normally moved to contacts list
just rambles about no script to call blah blah blah.

I can get older versions from www.oldversion.com if need be. I'm
running XP Pro SP3. If scripts are needed and you have, please send.
Actually I want to think I don't even have the Jaws default scripts
as I overwrote them with Jaws 11's assuming it'd actually work :).

Thanks.

Brad

[JAWS-Users] Slow motion

2010-10-26 Thread wayne smith
I have a couple of MS Word docs that are very large. One of them is about
1800 pages. That never presented a problem when I was using JAWS 8 with MS
Word 2003 and XP Pro. Now I have a state-of-the-art laptop with Windows 7
64bit, much more RAM and a faster processor (supposedly) and every time I
open this 1800 doc everything goes into super slow motion. When I open the
doc I can go get a glass of water and come back and it may still be opening.
If I try to Alt-Tab to another program, Outlook or Skype, for example, it
takes forever to make the switch. Does anyone have an idea if this is
related to JAWS 11 latest build, something wrong with MS Word 2007 or
something with the computer itself?

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 12

2010-10-26 Thread Baracco, Andrew W
I just installed JAWS 12, and have noticed some strange things.
Sometimes, when reading certain screens, such as the fields in an Email
message, or on a web page, it will say Computer Braille. And, in
Outlook 2007, sometimes before reading a message, it will say something
like Press ALT H V X to view this message, but then it will go on to
read the message just fine. And, as for the message about computer
Braille, I have a Focus 40 display, but it is configured to display
Braille in Grade II. What's going on, and how can I get rid of these
annoying messages.

Yes! I figured it out, and changed the setting to output only, and that
nag went away. Now, to get rid of that warning every time I open an
HTML message.

Hello there;

if you have your braille set to input and output, you will hear that,
computer braille.

I must say, it's very annoying.

I just installed JAWS 12, and have noticed some strange things.
Sometimes, when reading certain screens, such as the fields in an
Email
message, or on a web page, it will say Computer Braille. And, in
Outlook 2007, sometimes before reading a message, it will say
something
like Press ALT H V X to view this message, but then it will go on to
read the message just fine. And, as for the message about computer
Braille, I have a Focus 40 display, but it is configured to display
Braille in Grade II. What's going on, and how can I get rid of these
 annoying messages.

It seems that this would be a problem related to system resources, as
opposed to a screen reader problem.

I have a couple of MS Word docs that are very large. One
of them is about
1800 pages. That never presented a problem when I was
using JAWS 8 with
 MS
Word 2003 and XP Pro. Now I have a state-of-the-art
laptop with Windows 7
64bit, much more RAM and a faster processor (supposedly)
and every time I
open this 1800 doc everything goes into super slow motion.
When I open
 the
doc I can go get a glass of water and come back and it may
still be
 opening.
If I try to Alt-Tab to another program, Outlook or Skype,
for example, it
takes forever to make the switch. Does anyone have an
idea if this is
related to JAWS 11 latest build, something wrong with MS
Word 2007 or
 something with the computer itself?

Does anyone use this program and make use of this feature?

2010-10-26 Thread Brad Dunse
Thanks. I haven't been too successful on that feature. I can never
get the color scheme to show up in the choices. I took a different
approach and am experimenting with what I think is a solution. I've
given all my music tasks a bdm in front and then assigned a sound to
it in that applications Jaws dictionary so I can quickly scroll
through when working on those items and lisen for the unique sound.
Actually I think this might be a better solution :). Takes up a
couples characters real estate in the edit field but so far so good.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do need to work out the custom highlight
for Quickbooks Pro however but haven't explored it much.

Thanks.

I don't use the program, but you can set it up to recognize certain colors
using the skim reading function.

Select the color reading rule. Then, you can select the text color and
background color, and you can choose to apply that rule to what is being
displayed.

Not really. If you have set it up in Outlook using Pop3 the settings in
Outlook Express will be similar.

Alt t for tools, A for accounts, New account. Then, you will need to go
into server properties and check the box for SSL, and go to advanced and set
the server ports.
