Re: [JAWS-Users] Flashget download manager with JAWS
Hi, I was big fan of flashget until version 2, but, if I remember correctly, after that, this manager wasn't as accessible as in earlear versions. Two weeks ago I installed free download manager and it looked like completely accessible. But, if you can buy the internet download manager, it worth every cent. DERICK GREEFF said the following on 23.2.2011. 7:37: Hi List, I experience serious interruptions of downloads of large files especially from Sendspace. I've been advised to try Flashget which is a free download manager to enable me to resume interrupted downloads. [JAWS-Users] how in the world do you use windows live messenger 2011?
I am completely frustrated here. I am running windows 7, jaws 12, on a 64 bit machine. I updated my windows live essentials to 2011, and now I can't use messenger, because I can't figure it out. I did have 10 contacts in windows live 2009, but only 2 show up now. I can't figure out how to add a contact either. If I could figure out how to go back to windows live 2009, I would do that, but don't know how to do that either. I have Skype, and my contact is, jim332. if someone will help me by walking through messenger and showing me how to fix stuff, or write me off list, and either tell me how to use 2011 or get back windows live 2009 it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all of your help. Re: [JAWS-Users] how in the world do you use windows live messenger 2011?
Hi Jim. The simple answer is you don't use it lol. Its impossible to use with jaws as usual microsoft haven't bothered to consider accessibility. I'd advise you to downgrade to the previous version then make sure not to update via windows update even when its offered to you, you should be able to untick it. This is the full offline installer, when installing simply untick the apps you don't want in the list, i just installed messenger i never install any of their other stuff if i can help it... Here's the link to download the last known accessible version. let me know if it works for you and if you need any further help: http://www.oldapps.com/msn_messenger.php?old_msn=22?download Mo. Re: [JAWS-Users] how in the world do you use windows live messenger 2011?
PS: when installed, sign in as normal then go to tools then to options, and go to the layout section in the list. Press tab, and untick the following boxes: Show favourites, show groups, show the tab bar, and show the what's new list. then click ok, this'll make your experience a lot easier. Also if contacts are arranged in groups you can change that option from this section as well to online status etc. Mo. May also wanta consider joining using twitter. use quitter to pull down work with your tweets. Basically have just told folks if you wanta talk to me you'll have to do it threw either one of those methods or not at all. Or just pick up the old twisted pair do it the old-fashioned way. Re: [JAWS-Users] Accessible dating sites
Larry, Are you specifically looking for a blind or visually impaired partner? I think there is a site or two out there for that. I think there may be a blind singles mailing list as well. I used match.com years ago and found my girlfriend Beth who I dated for two years. After we broke up, I used EHarmony, and found Teresa, we are now married for four and a half years, and have a 15 month old daughter. So, I feel it worked out pretty well. EHarmony is not the most accessible site I've used, and the questionnaire is brutal to get through, but it can be done with some patience, and I think my outcome was pretty good. -- Blue skies. Hi It isn't specifically a blind sight. However, christiancafe.com is quite accessible with JAWS. I just relabel any of the buttons or links that have extra text. This is a feature in JAWS I love. For instance it has a link that states tell-a-friend-off-button. Well, It sounds offensive. Actually, it should read tell a friend. So, thanks to JAWS I am able to make the link say the right thing. Any way Christian Cafe is one JAWS friendly dating sight. God bless, Mark Hi Folks, I am using Jaws 10.latest Windows-XP-Pro and IE-7. Re: [JAWS-Users] MSE history
Hi. I'm using JAWS 10, so the following may not work exactly depending on the JAWS version. You may not see anything because MSE doesn't show anything in the history unless MSE detects something. I tab to history, press enter and then tab again. JAWS says View the list of following items that Security essentials detected as potentially harmful. My version of JAWS doesn't show this, but there's a list of check boxes for buttons. The choices are: All detected items, Quarantined items, and allowed items. Use the down arrow to read and select the option; it's checked automatically as soon as it's arrowed to. this is when I route JAWS to PC. There's a table listing the item, the recommended action and the alert level. The list you get would depend on which option you check and what, if anything MSE found. It's been a while since I've had any items listed, but I believe you route JAWS to PC and then left click on the item. Either that or you click on the detected item column in the table I mentioned above. Re: [JAWS-Users] MSE history
Hello, I am using JAWS 12 with Windows 7 64-bit and an up-to-date Microsoft Essentials program. I am able to get history information quite well. Although identified as buttons, the choices like home, update, history, and others are really treated as page tabs. The graphics are near the top of the window just under the status that says your computer is protected. You can use CTRL+Tab key to switch pages and eventually get to history. You can also use tab key until you find any of the following controls and then use right arrow key to find history: Home, update, settings, help, and additional help. Of course, if you use tab key and find the history choice then using right arrow is unnecessary. After labeling, the history choice will be identified by JAWS as history, but if you route JAWS to PC and read the current button, JAWS says Summarize view of the items detected in previous scans and the actions that were taken. If you tab from the history button, you will find a group of radio buttons. Use up and down arrow keys, but if you choose all detected items then tab to the list view of those items. Use down or up arrow key in the list to review items found that the program considered malicious. With focus on an item in the list, use tab key to move to a read-only box that gives information about the item. In that box, such things as category, description and recommended action are given for your review. Continue to use down arrow in the read-only box to find a list of files associated with the item selected in the list. Move back to the list and choose another item. Each time an item is selected in the list, you can tab to the read-only box that contains information about the given item. If you tab past the read-only box, you will find a button for deleting the history. If you tab back to the group of radio buttons where you chose to view all detected items, use down arrow key and you will find quaranteened items. Use tab from that selection to find a list of items that the program moved to quaranteen. Use tab to move to the read-only box for information about the item you select in the list. use tab to move to the Remove all button. Use tab key to move back to the group of radio buttons and use down arrow to find allowed items. If you have allowed any then tab to the list of items you allowed. If you move back to the radio buttons group and use down arrow from the choice for viewing allowed items, the next three times you use down arrow you will basically get a description of what each of the first three items did. Re: [JAWS-Users] MSE history
Hmm, Brian, I've been running MSE since last August and I've kept the default scanning time of 2 Am on Sunday. I don't see any allowed items or quarantined items. The last time I even saw anything it quarantined was back in December. I know it's scanning and updating the definitions, so should there be something listed under allowed or quarantined items, or is my inability to find them due to my using an older version of JAWS? Forget about great wealth, fame and being physically fit. Just give me lots of chocolate and blissful ignorance and leave me alone. Re: [JAWS-Users] MSE history
Hi Marilyn, Perhaps my description made it sound harder than it is. It is really just a matter of finding the applicable radio button, tabbing to a list of items and selecting one and reading information about it in the next box that you tab to. On my system, I had a quarantined item and some items that were found that I had deleted, so perhaps that is why they showed in the history. I am not sure that the various controls will show if there are no items in the history. If you want to just make sure that your system is being protected then go into the system tray with JAWS key and function key 11 and use down arrow key to find the icon that gives the status for the antivirus protection. You should hear that your system is protected. If you hear that your system is potentially unprotected, it might be that the program wants you to do a scan. You can just tab three times and use the link that simulates a double left mouse button click to bring up the program. Choose to do a quick scan, which only takes a few minutes. When the scan finishes, go back into the notification area using insert and F11 and arrow down. You will likely find that your system is being protected. If by chance you find that there is no icon in your system tray then it might be that the Microsoft anti malware service needs to be allowed to interact with your desktop. I have had a couple systems where that was the case. Let me know if that happens to be the situation and I can give you steps for enabling the interaction. Sorry if it seemed really confusing. Sometimes, we make things harder than they really are in actuality. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] MSE history
Hi Lisa, I am not sure, but perhaps nothing will show in the history unless specific actions on items have been taken. It might be due to an earlier version of JAWS, but the dialog box seems to pretty well follow Windows standards and the controls seem to be in good tabular order. I will have to clear items from the different categories in my history to find out if the controls still are showing in the dialog box when the program has nothing to report. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Accessible dating sites
Hi Christian Cafe has a ten days free but after that there is a charge. However, the prices are the most reasonable I have found. Full price for a year is only $109 and if you get it on sale it is only $89. I buy by the year so I do not know the other prices. I hope this helps.
