[JAWS-Users] ie problem

2011-05-30 Thread Jorge Paez
Hi all:
Just wondering,
I'm using IE8 on a windows 64 bit machine running Win7 and JFW 12.
Lately I've been coding a site which I've been programing completely on html
4.01 and javascript.
It works well for sighted users, and runs smoothly with NVDA and Voice Over,
but for some reason whenever I go to it with IE and JFW 12.58 all it says is
blank, blank, blank as I try to move, and it won't allow me to bring up links
or anything.

Is this an IE issue or a JFW issue?

Is it something to do with the software or the way I'm coding my sight that
won't allow it to run with JFW?
As far as I know my website stands within W3C standards so I don't know what
could be wrong?

Thanks,

Jorge

P.S., if anyone wants to test it the site is: http://www.jopamusic.com

2011-05-30 Thread Brian Lee
Hello George,

I am using JAWS 12 latest build and version along with Windows 7
Professional. I checked out your site and things seem to be pretty much
okay. However, the word mission is misspelled. Also, the word Jopa in
the logo is not in green, the word music is but not the word Jopa. The
three headings in a row at levels 1, 2 and 3 are read correctly by JAWS, as
are the descriptions for the hyperlinks and combo box. I followed the link
to the Blind Inc. site and it worked from the first page but not from the
Discography page. There were three blank lines at the top of the page
before the logo, but everything seemed to read fine after that point.

Take care.

If your getting other screen readers working on it. Then it has to be
a jaws thing.

Seems 12 has a lot in that department wrong.
Try tabbing around to cycle the page. You shouldn't have to but some
times brings the page back in focus.

2011-05-30 Thread Mike Barbara In Arcadia
Hi Fred;

Below are some steps I found in my notes for Outlook 2007. You can see if
they will work in Outlook 2010.

From: Brian Lee brianl...@charter.net

When focus is in your message list, remove selection from any selected item
and use the right click context menu. If a message is selected use
CTRL+spacebar to remove selection. Press application key or shift+f10 to
bring up the context menu. Use down arrow key in the menu and you will find
the Sort choice. Press enter key. You will be able to choose a primary
and secondary choice of an item to sort by, sort in ascending or descending
order for each of them, and add fields from a list of fields if you want to.

Take care.
Brian Lee

Hope this helps. Take care.
Mike

I am using latest jaws, windows 7 and outlook 2010. My e-mail messages
are
dropping down from the top and I would like them to come up from bottom
but
I can't find how to change it in outlook 2010. In outlook express Alt
plus
V and arrow down would do it. I believe it was under layout. Thanks
much,

Fred,
Are you talking about the ascending and descending order?

What IE version are you running?
What JFW version?

Because all mine says is blank

Are you running IE8?

If so, then I guess I'm running IE9?

 Subject: [JAWS-Users] ie problem

 Hi all:
 Just wondering,
 I'm using IE8 on a windows 64 bit machine running Win7 and JFW 12.
Lately I've been coding a site which I've been programing completely on
html 4.01 and javascript.
It works well for sighted users, and runs smoothly with NVDA and Voice
Over,
but for some reason whenever I go to it with IE and JFW 12.58 all it says
is blank, blank, blank as I try to move, and it won't allow me to bring up
links or anything.

Is this an IE issue or a JFW issue?

Is it something to do with the software or the way I'm coding my sight
that won't allow it to run with JFW?
As far as I know my website stands within W3C standards so I don't know
what could be wrong?

 Thanks,

 Jorge

P.S., if anyone wants to test it the site is: http://www.jopamusic.com

[JAWS-Users] Making content fit in Excel cells

2011-05-30 Thread CrisMunoz54
Hello list,

I'm trying to work with some Excel spread sheets such as for merchandise
quotes, purchase order and invoices where certain text like item
description, delivery address etc can be 1, 2, or x lines. Because of this,
I'm having trouble getting the text to properly fit in the cells as I then
have to convert it to a PDF file and the whole template will get thrown off.
Does anyone know or can they direct me where one can manually do this and
more importantly, figure out how to adjust the cell/row/column size
accordingly and have Jaws give me the necessary feedback so I know that it
looks right? I've tried the autofit option in the menus, but the feedback
from my sighted wife is that it just makes the cell text even smaller and
makes it harder to read if not impossible. Not all text is equal so it's not
like I can use a set peramitor. I've checked the Jaws Excel help settings
and it's more to do with with reading titles and cell coordinates. That's
fine, but not exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm using JFW 11. I do have the latest JFW 12 from this past May, but as
others have discussed on this and more lists, my experiences with Jaws 12
were too problematic to continue using it. My Excel is the 2003 edition.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
