I have had inconsistent problems with Control+C in both JAWS 11 and 12 on
both my personal laptop and work computer. I have not been able to figure
out the problem.

Have had that one for past 4 versions. After boot you get it and then
it just stops saying it.

yes, you can do that to get it back. However, that is just one of the
tiny bugs that never gets fixed. As I stated have had that problem
with more then a few versions. Guess jaws can't hang on to the video
as long as my box can stay working. Makes voice over look even better

[JAWS-Users] daily information

2011-10-08 Thread David Ferrin
Daily Tip:
Locate Text In Long Documents

If you've ever worked with a lengthy document in Word, you know how difficult
it can be to find specific information for review or editing. However, you can
use the Find feature to quickly locate the text. To do this, move the mouse
point to the beginning of your document and click Edit and then Find (or press
CTRL-F) to display the Find page of the Find And Replace dialog box. In the
Find What text box, enter the text you're trying to locate. Click Find Next.
Word will highlight the first occurrence of the text. Keep clicking Find Next
until the program locates the text you want.

  Daily Term:
Damper Wire

The horizontal wire that stabilizes and limits the vibration of the aperture
grille on an aperture grille display. Its faint shadows may be visible on the
screen. Larger monitors have two parallel damper wires, while smaller monitors
have only one.

[JAWS-Users] An annoying problem with Jaws 12

2011-10-08 Thread tcorson2
I just upgraded from version 9 to version 12. I am using windows 7, 64 bit.
Frequently, when reading word by word with insert right arrow, Jaws will go
into and get stuck in the spelling mode. Anyone else experiencing this?

Also, I find that Jaws loses focus fairly often and I have to do an alt tab to
get it straightened out again.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Partitian Question

2011-10-08 Thread Marvin Atkins
Hi all,

I read a post awhile back about how one could partitian a hard drive to
include just the OS on a smaller partitian so one could use Image for
Windows to make a small copy of the OS.

I thought, this is a great idea. I just purchased a new laptop and wondered
if anyone could give me directions on how to set my laptop up with this
type of configuration. I.E. Out of a 320 GB hard drive, how much space
should one allow for the OS, etc...

Thanks,
Marvin

Hi Steve,
As long as the, Research It, feature relies on web-content to work properly,
it will always have problems whenever the web pages it accesses change,
and you can count on that happening as websites continue to change with the
times and technology.
It's a shame that the time and money spent on that feature aren't directed
towards
something more beneficial for the end-user of the product.

Elf,

Sorry you seem to be off on research-it. I find it is quite convenient and
use its various features daily. It is unfortunate that there has been
occasional trouble with business search or sports, but I find other features
to lend themselves to efficiency and productive use.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Partitian Question

2011-10-08 Thread David Ferrin
If it is a windows 7 system then allow in my opinion at least around 65 GB.
That will give you twice the space that the operating system will need to be
installed and still have room left over for defragmenting ETC.

This system I am on now is an XP lap top and the system partition is 35 GB
and I could make it smaller if I ever need because the install is less than
10 GB.

Re: [JAWS-Users] WHAT TO KNOW WHEN SHOPPING FOR A SOUND CARD

2011-10-08 Thread joluland

Hi,
When selecting a sound card, what are the most important things to look for?
Creative Labs and Amazon have so many to choose from and, of course, all the
numbers that follow the name of the card made me crazy. For over a year I've
been experiencing a constant problem of JAWS suddenly giving up the ghost
for no apparent reason. Lately, it's not occasional, but more like every
minute when I'm reading by word or line. It doesn't happen when in say all
mode. It does happen, though, quite often when I'm writing and when I read
what I wrote, it's there. I'd like to get a sound card because just maybe
the one the computer came with is not strong enough to accommodate JAWS and
all the sounds I set up. I'm running JAWS12 latest build and Win7 SP1. Any
and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First, what quality do you want and why, next will the cards you look at
take the things you want to listen to like you said, third, qand this
matters if money's tight, even if you do find one that meets your neads,
could there be something better or just as good for a lower price? Finally,
the most obvious thing, what kinds of inputs and outputs do you want and or
