I believe that the answer to that is currently no, unless you remove
your updated JAWS13 and install an earlier iteration of it either from
the CD or wherever.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] How do I set JFW to read in-line frames on only
1specific web page?

Hello.

Of all the gazillion web pages and sites out there, is there a way to
set JFW13 to 'read in-line frames' only on just 1 specific web page of
my choosing? I like to uncheck the 'read in-line frames' in the JFW
default setting and want to change this behavior on just 1 single web
page.

This web page happens to be the recently discussed convertfiles.com as
I discovered AI need JFW to be able to read in line frames in order to
access the edit fields and other controls to be able to use the
service.

Thx.

2012-03-27 Thread Flor Lynch
No problem on that page with Xp and IE8 here. The letter t lands me on
the table. The problem is people's personal verbosity settings which
have been retained anyway through the last update and are difficult to
change now.

Hi Patti,

When I press the letter T, Jaws reports that there are no tables on
this
page! Is there a link or something that needs to be clicked on
before
following your steps? I am using XP, IE8, & Jaws13. Thanks much,
take

 Ok smarty pants.
1, Press the T to get to the table
2, Arrow down to Choose a local file:, that box is check, so leave
it

alone
3, Arrow down to browse. Sometimes if it don't show up when down
arrowing,

then up arrow, and it will show up, press space bar
4, It will put you in a dialog box.
5, Shift tab to find the file you want to convert
6, After you find the file tab to open, or I just press enter on the
file

name, after you tab to file name
7, Tab to input, and it will say the format name of your file
8, Tab to output, and arrow down to what format you want
9, Tab to convert, press the space bar
Now it will take you to another page, and wait a little
10, Arrow down to download your file, and it will bring up a dialog
box to

 save to your computer

Re: [JAWS-Users] How do I set JFW to read in-line frames on only 1specific web page?

2012-03-27 Thread Flor Lynch

In the latest update to JAWS13, FS removed personal verbosity Settings.
I don't think the implications of that have sunk in yet, or else they
are being blithely ignored by FS. The setting or unsetting of the
reading of In-line Frames was/is a personal verbosity setting. The
removal of verbosity settings overall and their replacement by Quick
Settings has implications for JAWS users with other programs, and I
would mention JAWS with
MS Excel in particular. Now that having been said, for my part, i did
not make the ignoring of in-line frames a general or personal verbosity
setting (except on one or two sites I use or used often, where I know it
to be a Flash-induced problem): so I don't have the problem of not being
able to see the tables, radiobuttons, etc., on the convert.com site:
that reads as it should for me.

oh sorry, i use revo uninstaller and i think it knocked out the time elapsed
thing on switch when i got rid of it, just reinstalled it here a few hours
ago and its working fine, lol!

guess I'll have to uninstall and reinstall format factory for future use

although that website works wonderfully well and is fairly quick for online
conversions.

Oxelon is free and Jaws accessible. It can convert audio and video files.
Switch is also very good and JFW accessible, but costs $30.00 or so.

It's on the audio page, I did a basic walk through the program hopefully
enough to give you the feel for what it is and what it does.

Re: [JAWS-Users] converting MP3 files to WAV files

2012-03-27 Thread inthaneelf

ok don't know yet if you all got this straightened out but when i went to:
http://convertfiles.com/

there was a nice webpage full of links, but it made it clear (due to the
title of the page) that it was a file conversion and U-Tube converter site.

I hit T like she said and landed on a radio button that said choose a local
file (that means on your comp for those who don't under stand the reference)
and just below that is an edit field, put the on your conputer path to the
file you wish to convert there!

(such as)
C:\documents and Settings\All
Users\Documents\Music&Sounds\ToConverts\flames.mp3
now arrow down past the second radio button (which by the way is the one for
going to something like a UTube video and converting it) and past the edit
field for those addresses.

i left the input format to its stock "all" setting but i guess you can hit
enter on it and then alt and down arrow to open the combo box and arrow down
to the file type your starting with, not needed in my use but its there.

i then went to the output file type box and entered on it and arrowed down
to .wav.

i went down some more and passed by and left the "email me a link" checkbox
unchecked and simply hit enter on the convert button that was under that.

screan flicker, i found a message that said "converting file... so i waited.

screen flicker again, and there was a page with a message "please download
your file" and a download link/URL to download it.

now i have that sound in .wavuseable for a startup sound or whatever on my
machine

thank you, i like onboard converters but this seems nicely useable, and am
going to try it with some utube videos i want!

Re: [JAWS-Users] How do I set JFW to read in-line frames on only 1 specific web page?

2012-03-27 Thread Bissett, Tom
Interesting. I wondered why we were getting different results from each other.
I by default have the read inline frames turned off to avoid all the
advertising that is presented . As we see it can be problemmatic. I was
unable to perform a task at work because I couldn't find the edit boxes but
once I turned on the inline frames the controls appeared.
I wonder if we could script jaws to anounce that there are inline frames but
not actually reading them unless requested.

Hello.

Of all the gazillion web pages and sites out there, is there a way to set JFW13

like to uncheck the 'read in-line frames' in the JFW default setting and want

This web page happens to be the recently discussed convertfiles.com as I
discovered AI need JFW to be able to read in line frames in order to access the

Oxelon is free and Jaws accessible. It can convert audio and video files.
Switch is also very good and JFW accessible, but costs $30.00 or so.

Re: [JAWS-Users] free text to audio conversion web site

2012-03-27 Thread inthaneelf

o, my apologies i missed which site was under scrutany

and some folks don't like there voices but want to make audio tutorials
(which are better for some folks) so they use some sort of TTS
engin/application as the "voice" and just type it out as a document.

if i wanted to produce a audio tutorial for something this is what i would
do, although folks say i have a decent voice when its running well, I'm not
good at reading items so make a bautch of it, but editing a text document is
easy and then the engin turns it into audio files.

Re: [JAWS-Users] converting MP3 files to WAV files

2012-03-27 Thread Bissett, Tom
When I put in the url jaws is reporting no tables. Scrolling through there
appears to be no tables just lists containing what can be converted to what.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Kindle For PC

2012-03-27 Thread Bob

Unfortunately not without using jaws 13 and using ocr on every page.

The fact that screenreaders are unable to access the text of the book is
the reason amazon released their own accessible version.
If a screen reader could access the text it would be very easy for
another program to access the text, remove the drm and share illegally.

Re: [JAWS-Users] converting MP3 files to WAV files

2012-03-27 Thread Blackwell, Clifford
I'm coming in late on this topic so I apologize if these suggestion have
already been made.

If you right click on an .mp3 file and arrow down to "convert sound file", the
process is fairly simple. Also conversion of files between .mp3 and .wav can
be done in CDEX. Both options are free.

NCH also has a program called Switch which I think has a free version. That
one is a bit more problematic because of some labeling issues in the program.
However, with a little playing around, it is workable also.

following your steps? I am using XP, IE8, & Jaws13. Thanks much, take
care.

  Ok smarty pants.
1, Press the T to get to the table
2, Arrow down to Choose a local file:, that box is check, so leave it
alone
3, Arrow down to browse. Sometimes if it don't show up when down arrowing,
then up arrow, and it will show up, press space bar
4, It will put you in a dialog box.
5, Shift tab to find the file you want to convert
6, After you find the file tab to open, or I just press enter on the file
name, after you tab to file name
7, Tab to input, and it will say the format name of your file
8, Tab to output, and arrow down to what format you want
9, Tab to convert, press the space bar
Now it will take you to another page, and wait a little
10, Arrow down to download your file, and it will bring up a dialog box to
  save to your computer

Re: [JAWS-Users] Kindle For PC

2012-03-27 Thread tim
Sense those are about PC for kindle. They would be more answered from
Amazon the site that offers that software. There are no add ons,
because they wrote the accessible version with standard controls used
by screen readers.

At 07:34 AM 3/27/2012, you wrote:

I already have the mainstream kindle for pc, via Amazon's site,
installed and registered on my pc since January and have, with much
hassles, succeeded to get a kindle book downloaded into it, in order
to retrieve it from the my kindle content folder on my pc, to
further handle with the book.

Once downloaded, I don't plan to read it via the kindle for pc, but
will convert the book, but navigation of the menus via jaws, will be
of much help to get the download streamlined and know when it was
opened in kindle for pc.

My questions are:

As I'm prohibited from downloading it, will the site also prohibit
me from using the accessible version, as I am able to download via
the basic one?

If I manage to obtain it via goodwill from overseas, will I have to
uninstall the basic one, or could I install the other one over it
and would I have to reauthorise it under a different ID?

Alternatively,
Is there perhaps some way that one could get hold of only that
additional accessibility features that will work with jaws, to
install it, like an
add on to my current pc installation, thereby eliminating
deregistering the already working version to reregister the new one
on the same authorisation?

Thanks and regards,

Riana

The standard Kindle PC app doesn't allow books to be read.
You need the accessible version.
