actually if your spell checking and you hit insert and f7 its supposed to go
over the spellcheck dialog again so you can hear that word that it's saying
is wrong, but sounded correct to you!

so are you attempting to do this, or to start a spell check?

That's because the command to spellcheck is f7, not insert-f7 which is the
command to bring up a links list.

Hi need help regarding [PB 40] which has unfortunately has packed up on me.
I've sent it back to [Blazy engineering] for repair, for the second time,
and now when I'm on Jaws' the keys seem about five or six secs behind what
I'm typing. Is there any way that I can Disable the Braille menu until I
get machine back? Hope one can help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] braille and speak

2012-07-09 Thread Vincent Chaney Jr.
David,

The BNS200 can change how the file is treated by the way the file is named.
You have gotten this idea from some of the responses. The way to do this is:

1. Open the "Options" with a Control O. I'll not guess you know, so the
space bar with the Braille "O" will perform the Control "O".

2. Press the "F" key to open the file menu.
If you were in the phone file, you should be pointing to it. You can
verify with the Control "C" (Say Line) or Control 5-6 (Spell Word).

3. Press the Control "R" to Rename. I will guess your file is phone without
any extension. Now, after pressing the Control "R", type in the name of
phone.txt and press Control "E" (enter).

This will now have the BNS treat the content of the file as Grade 1 text.

If you had an extension, i.e. if you were using the default file of
phone.brl, let me know and I will help as this will have to work
differently.

Re: [JAWS-Users] trying to obtain a jaws disc

2012-07-09 Thread Lennie

Hi Melissa,

Here is the direct download from Freedom Scientific 64 bits version
for windows7:

ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/JAWS/J13.0.924-64bit.exe

If you can, copy the above URL on a flash disk and when you get to
the laptop using windows, plug the disk into it. Assuming there is
nothing else on the flash disk, try to navigate to computer and open
the flash disk. Usually, windows will automatically open the drive
and I do believe that pressing enter on the first item will open the
drive and you just press the spacebar to select the link and then
press enter to start the download. I am not on a windoews7 computer
now, but normally you would want to save the download, but in your
case, tab to the run and press enter to start the installation of
Jaws. Jaws will start talking and help you to walk through the
installation. On my XP computer, I can only tab twice to find the run button.

Let me know if you are not using windows7 or if you need the 32 bits
version, I will send you the link for that one.

Take care.

Lennie

ninite is not a program but a website at

It allows you to upgrade or install about 90 applications currently.
You then download a small online instaler that downloads and installs

Hi Janie,

I thought I had used Insert + F7 for years to spell-check individual words&
now, I must been hallucinating or something! I guess I've always been
highlighting the individual word & using the F7 key by itself! I know that
Insert + F7 is supposed to bring up the links list! I need to take my sorry
A** back to bed! It's to early in the morning to be this screwed up!!!

Re: [JAWS-Users] Changing "Read" and "Unread" status on Outlook 2007 with Enter, not arrowing

2012-07-09 Thread David
Hello there;
First,
Another way to do this is;

1, alt+v=view,

2, now tab until you hear;
Reading pane button drop down,

3, press either enter or, the spacebar,
Now tab to options
Note, you will not see options if you have your reading pane set to off.

Also you can;
Alt+v=view,
Now press the letters p/n
Note these instructions are for outlook 2010.
Outlook 2007,
You would,
Alt+v=view,
Now down arrow to reading pane sub menu,
Right arrow to open, or simply press the spacebar,
Now use your tab key.

Hope this helps.

Siew,

I am using MS Outlook 2010 but understand 2007 and 2010 are close. In the
File Menu, I have found a setting that may work. I have picked Options. The
Options opens with General and I then move to mail, the first arrow to the
right. Now you have to tab until you find "Reading Pane", again this is what
I find in MS Outlook 2010. Hitting enter, you find options of "Mark items as
read when viewing in the Reading Pane, Mark items as read when selection
changes and Read with single key of space bar. To have my mail only show of
being read when I open the message, I have unchecked each of these items and
then hit the "Okay" button for the Read Pane and then also hit the Okay for
the Mail Category.
I hope this is close to what you find in Outlook 2007..

Hello Steven,

You might want to try using the software that came with the scanner before
investing in anything else. If you don't have software for the scanner, you
might be able to download it from the manufacturer's site. Check under the
program groups in the start menu or perhaps there is an icon on the desktop for
the scanning software. Otherwise, you can go to the support area of the
manufacturer's web site and try to find software and drivers for your specific
model of scanner. If your scanner software can save scanned material as a text
file then it might be all you need for reading simple documents. I have used
JAWS with various scanner software with good
success.

Take care.
