Re: [JAWS-Users] It did it again

2012-09-02 Thread Ryan West

Hello Maheen,

I am not sure what is going on but I have had the same problem and I am
using the latest build of jaws and a windows 7 machine. For me it can
happen on any web page using internet explorer, so in my estimation it is
some problem with our IE not being compatible with jaws. I am using IE 9
how about you?

Sincerely, Ryan West

I just had this problem once again today again just now. I went to amazon,
searched for an artist, jaws muted for 1 minute. This is really beginning to
get frustrating. It said internet explorer was closed, again.

2012-09-02 Thread Brian Lee
Hi Susie q,

If you use Humanware Companion you can transfer the .DOC file and it should
be automatically changed to a HTML file. You won't need to save it in a
different format in Word if you use that program. Choose the Text Files
menu item under the Transfer menu. Browse to the location of the .DOC file
on the computer and check it for transfer with the spacebar. Use the
Transfer button to start the transfer. There will be a dialog box letting
you know when the transfer is finished. The file should be changed to a
HTML file in your Text File library.

Write me off line if you need any more help with using Humanware Companion
to transfer your .DOC files.

Take care.

Hi Susie q,

Don't confuse compatibility mode with protected view mode. Compatibility
mode just means that Word 2010 is letting you open a file from an earlier
version of Word. You can still edit the document and save it as usual.
JAWS just reads the title bar when opening the document and so you hear that
it is being opened in compatibility mode. You don't have to save it in the
new format. If all you are wanting to do is transfer the edited file to
your Stream then you might as well just leave it in the .DOC format.

On the other hand if there are features in Word 2010 that you want to use
that weren't available in the earlier versions of Word then you might want
to use the newer format. The compatibility mode is not the same as the
protected mode and it is not a safety feature. If Word thinks a document
might be from an unsafe source then it will open in protected view, which is
like a sandboxed area. Documents from programs using the Internet zone are
examples of documents opened in protected view. You don't need to worry
about documents opened in compatibility mode so if all you are wanting to do
is put them on the Stream you really don't need to use the newer format.

Take care.

When you open any document, you can always select save-as and save it as a

Hi,

I have the real speak cd that came with jaws 9.

I'm trying to install it under win7 64 bit.

I've run the install as admin and changed the compatibility mode to xp
sp2.

It says this program won't run under 64 bit.

I've been told it can be done, ideas?

Re: [JAWS-Users] question about word 2010 and Jaws 13?

2012-09-02 Thread Steve
Susie,

When you talk about adding it to the Stream, what do you mean, the Victor
Stream?

When you open any document, you can always select save-as and save it as a
different version. I thought you were wanting to make all your documents in
Word 2010 in the old .doc format.

It means you are using a newer version of Microsoft Office. The 2007 and up
use the .d o c x as the standard default format, instead of the older .d o c
file type in Microsoft Word in Office versions 2003 and below.

Re: [JAWS-Users] question about word 2010 and Jaws 13?

2012-09-02 Thread Brian Lee

Take care.

When I finely upgraded to JAWS 13, the problem stopped.
