2012-09-19 Thread inthaneelf
hmmm, xp is much slower than 7, and vista i have no clue since all along
its lifespan its been causing troubles on the lists so i skipped it.

reload your systems if you havn't (i am constantly trying out new
applications to see if there semi or accessible, so am also uninstalling a
ton of stuff and wear out, and must reload my OS about once a year.

also using ccleaner (thats c cleaner), Auslogics Registry Cleaner and Revo
Uninstaller are good ways to keep things more in tune.

also there is a set of speed tweaks for xp on my grab bag site:
http://grabbag.alacorncomputer.com

that might help you, and hopefully you have and can run at least 2 Gb of ram
on each machine (I'd say 3 or 4 on the vista, though i'd see if that one
could be upgraded to win 7, which is superior to vista by a monumuntial
amount).

I have this same exact problem and there is a lag time of from 4 to 5
minutes before JAWS 12 comes up talking in windows 7. I worked with Freedom
Scientific also and only have JAWS and the antivirus starting at Start-Up
now, nothing else, but the problem still remains. How could I do anything
with the antivirus to see if this is the problem? My antivirus was disabled
against my will and ever since that happened, I have had this problem which
is so annoying. I had Tech Support from the antivirus company on the phone
for two days, but they checked all kinds of other things which were not the
problem, unfortunately and the system is squeaky clean.
Thanks for any ideas and is there anything I can do myself to check anything
out or do anything to get this back to where it always was?

Of course you can download items through IE9. Alt+n will bring up the
open/save/cancel dialog. From there, you can use the split buttons to
save, open or whatever.

How do you get to the Save?

Of course you can download items through IE9. Alt+n will bring up the
open/save/cancel dialog. From there, you can use the split buttons to
 save, open or whatever.

They'll show up as individual voices under one Vocalizer Direct
profile, so you will have to tweak your voice settings to sample
multiple voices. Not to worry though, profiles are easily deleted

and

won't interfere with using Eloquence as your default synthesizer.

My antivirus was disabled against my will and ever since that happened, I
have had this problem which is so annoying. I had Tech Support from the

other things which were not the problem, unfortunately and the system is

Thanks for any ideas and is there anything I can do myself to check anything

Hi Folks, I've been having a very strange downloading problem and I'm hoping
someone might be able to help me?

First, so you'll know my specs, I am deeling with Windows 7, IE 9 and my
problem happens in ither Jaws 13.0.006 or the new Jaws 14 Beta.

I am able to download from Freedomscientific.com, but not from
Bookshare.org.
Both FS and Bookshare have tried to help me, to no avail, yet.
When I'm on FS, the info fills the screen, but on Bookshare, only about 3
quorters is filled, even when the screen has been maximized.

When I click download on FS, followed by the Alt N, I then can use
Aplications key and down arrow to Save As. After Clicking there, I can Tab
to the Save button and press it to complete the save.

However, on Bookshare, this is not the case. Either with or without pressing
Alt N, although the Save option can be visually sceen and clicked upon, by a
sited person, Tabbing does not get me to it. Instead, Tabbing just advances
me to the next title.

Does Internet Explorer put out any interoom updates? Might that help?
I'm going to run complete virus and antispyware checks, but do you have any
thoughts for me? I would be very grateful for any help! Vicky V

Re: [JAWS-Users] Del Laptop Keystroke Question

2012-09-19 Thread Flor Lynch
On many keyboard layouts (other than the US), the right alt key stands
for both the alt and the control keys together, forming what's sometimes
known as the alt-gr key. So, if you want the United States keyboard,
press left-alt+shift until JAWS will oblige and say, setting Keyboard
layout to US.

Then I tab to the email address
Use control A to highlight
Control C to copy
Then go paste it where you want it.

[JAWS-Users] Major e mail issue with outlook express

I have XP and 13.0.
My pc froze up as I was trying to start up my e mail in internet explorer.
No keys worked so I hit the alt/control/delete key, and nothing worked.
So I had to hard boot the pc off.
When I turned it back on and went to O.E.,the in box said closed and, my in
box and spam folder were empty.
There was nothing in the deleted folder either.
I do run a back up with McAfee.
What would be the best way to recover these important messages?

I have not checked on the web on my web mail account through ATT yet.

Do you use the mobile site? True, you can't do everything, but it is easy

Re: [JAWS-Users] What to do when you forgot your JAWS USB Authorization stick

2012-09-19 Thread inthaneelf
you forget that you can have the count reset just by writing them, or
clicking on the provided link on the regestration page, and asking them for
it, if you haven't used a whole lot of authorizations in the very recent
time period, they are more than happy to reset your count

i have 5 computers with keys on them and 1 on demo version, and the tech i
talked to says even that is ok, they just discurage it since folks can go
nutcase and start handing out authorizations to those who don't own them

yes you will loose one, but you can get more.

Hi

You can authorize JAWS on multiple computers, but I believe that the JAWS
license says you can only be using it on one computer at the same time. But
I can't imagine listing to two JAWS speaking at the same time. The downside
is that if you use your personal authorization to use JAWS on that computer,
it will take away one of your authorization counts, and the most you can
have is 3. I know it would be a pain, but I would just run JAWS
unauthorized and reboot after 40 minutes. You can remove a JAWS
authorization count by going to Start menu\All programs\JAWS\\ xx, tools
menu and select Remove authorization. But that will not return the lost
authorization count.

Hi Folks, I've been having a very strange downloading problem and I'm
hoping someone might be able to help me?

Either with or without
pressing Alt N, although the Save option can be visually sceen and clicked

upon, by a sited person, Tabbing does not get me to it. Instead, Tabbing
just advances me to the next title.

Does Internet Explorer put out any interoom updates? Might that help?
I'm going to run complete virus and antispyware checks, but do you have
any thoughts for me? I would be very grateful for any help! Vicky V

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Del Laptop Keystroke Question

Hi All,

A friend is trying to get Jaws to work correctly on a Del Inspiron 512
computer running Windows7 64 bit Jaws13 latest. When he invokes the,
  Alt
+ Tab keystroke, Jaws reports control, alt, + tab. Or, When he types
the
quote sign, Jaws reports a Spanish letter. Does this behavior have
something to do with the FN key its functions? If so, how can or,
what
can he do to make Jaws report correctly? All help will be greatly
appreciated.
Take care.
Mike
