[JAWS-Users] Sound Card issue with Jaws 9 XP machine
Heyya folks thanks for taking time to read this. I'm having a real issue this evening I've hunted tried most every thing. I purchased installed an Audio Technica ATR 2100 Mic wich is both a USB XLR Mic, that also has a headphone jack on the back of it for monitoring your output audio from the mic. The issue came in when I installed the mic. The mic changed my output device to that particular device. I was able to change everything back to my Real Teck HD output device through control panel. However, JAWS remains coming out the headphone jack of the mic. I've tried the steps outlined here. Editing the jfw.ini file: 1.. Using My Computer or Windows Explorer, browse your hard drive to the currently running version of JAWS and find the jfw.ini file in that folder. 2.. Press ENTER to open. 3.. You should find some lines that read: a.. Synth1Name=eloq b.. Synth1LongName=Eloquence for JAWS c.. Synth1Driver=eloq The number doesn't matter, it may be 1, 2, or 3, but it must be the same for all entries for Eloquence. 4.. Add the following line after the driver line: Synth1Port=SB Live! Wave Device. Of course, you need to make sure that the synth number matches the other lines, so that if the Driver line read Synth3Driver=eloq then the port line would read Synth3Port=SB Live! Wave Device The text after the = sign in the Port line comes from Control Panel/Sound Multimedia/Audio tab. It must be one of the entries that can be chosen for Preferred Playback device. 5.. Save your changes and exit Notepad. So, mine now looks like this. 6.. [Synthesizers] Synth1Name=eloq Synth1LongName=Eloquence Software Synth1Driver=eloq Synth1Port=SB Live! Wave Device 7.. Again, still no JAWS from my speakers, any help would be greatly appreciated. Also when I take the device out reconnect it, I once again have to change my sounds back in control panel. Look forward to hearing from someone soon. I'm as stated in the subject line running Windows XP SP3 JAWS 9. [JAWS-Users] scripting question
I'm trying to figure out how to write an integer to a INI file and then test it against a predetermined value. I keep getting an incorrect format error which is not very helpful to be sure. In other words I wish to increment a value and then test it. Any ideas will be very welcome. Re: [JAWS-Users] Sound Card issue with Jaws 9 XP machine
You are going about it the hard way. Correct that was the method in the past but for several versions already and I'm not sure when it began but follow these steps. Go to your JAWS window. Go to the utilities menu, and arrow down to the sound card sub menu. In there you simply arrow to your desired card and hit enter. Hi You can try using the IniWriteInteger function to write the number to the ini file and then use IniReadInteger to read it back in again. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of David Ferrin Sent: Sunday, February 03, 2013 07:49 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] scripting question I'm trying to figure out how to write an integer to a INI file and then test it against a predetermined value. [JAWS-Users] Help Finding Working Drivers for TripleTalk USB under Windows 8.
Hello, I'm using the latest build of JAWS 14 under Windows 8 64 Bit (Home.) Boy, it's amazing how different this OS is from previous Windows releases. First thing I did was visit classicshell.net for a program to put back the Start Button. Now I need to get some working 64 bit drivers for my trusty TripleTalk USB synth for the ones that worked under Windows 7 no longer work under Windows 8. Please, give me a direct link to d/l the drivers. Thanks so much. Also is their a mailing list like this one for learning how to use Windows 8 with JAWS 14? [JAWS-Users] Trying To Use DataEase For DOS With JAWS
Hi, At work, I am trying to support a DOS database package, DataEase, however, JAWS 14, whilst partly working with it, does not allow me to accurately select menu options or move from field to field on a form, much less access and change the code, behind databases. I have tried adjusting JAWS options and have tried using the Command Prompt to access DataEase, however, it does not work very well. Is there any advice which JAWS users on here can give to help me set appropriate options or are there any scripts out there which might help? The Command Prompt works fine for issuing standard DOS commands but does not work too well with DOS-based applications. DataEase is rather like MS Access for developing databases, however, is not WINDOWS based. I am using WINDOWS XP SP3 at work and WINDOWS 7 32 Bit at home. Many Thanks for your help. Charlie. Re: [JAWS-Users] scripting question
I don't know if jaws scripts use the variable integer type if so than make sure you define all the numbers as such and then do your math. if not then you will have to convert them all over first to a numeric form so math can be done on them (after you update the increment) then do your math. I'm not a scripter but I play with programming so know a small amount from that standpoint. I haven't been following this thread, so not sure if you posted the code or not. When you do your integer comparison, are you using the double equals, IE, ==? -- Blue skies.
