I used the up and down errors to read the choices and could see on the
braille display when I was actually on the check boxes, pressed space and it
was done.
I never touched the tab key, just used arrows to get to the next button. I
supposed I did it that way because on our Health Streams at the hospital it
is the only way I can complete an assignment. I have tried all sorts of
stuff on that over the years and the only way I get it done is using the
arrow keys, unfortunately there are a couple of lessons that don't have any
way for me to move to the next screen, then a coworker flips through them
and I retake the test if needed.

When I tabbed, It read the choice but when I pressed the space bar, it
didn't check the button. It did work if I pressed R which moved me from
choice to choice and allowed me to check the button I wanted. But I've
gotten stuck again because I'm at another point where they're asking about
what kinds of devices I use to read, and nothing is getting checked when I
tab from choice to choice. When I press R, it says, no radio buttons. And
there don't appear to be check boxes either. I know, I know, everyone is

Miriam,

They are called radio buttons. If you remember the old style radios that
had big buttons on them. When you would push one button in, the one that
was pushed in, would pop out. The idea is that only one button can be
selected at a time.

Your problem may come from trying to look at the screen and listen to JAWS.
Just listen to JAWS. As you tab onto the radio button it will announce the
button selection, if that is the one you want, you can hit the space bar.
If you are using the arrow keys, sometimes you will hear button before or
after the label for that button. Hitting space on the
label won't do anything.Just tab and you should be fine. I took that
same survey earlier today and didn't notice anything strange about it.

[JAWS-Users] changes on the mobile site regarding what kinds of notifications you redceive

2013-03-13 Thread André van Deventer
Hi all

If this is off topic for the list, will those who reply to me please reply
privately at

andred...@webafrica.org.za

but I think many of us ran into the sameproblem recently.

On the facebook mobile site, I used to be able to go to see more stories,
all stories and then status updates. This meant that I saw no notifications
about photos but only the text messages.

Now however the status updates link is no longer available and I have to
wade through dozens of photos to see the text messages.

Unfriending the folks who send photos is not an option at all. Sending
photos to each other is one of the most important functions of facebook that
many of my sighted friends use and I definitely don’t want to lose them.

Now my question.

On the main facebook site, is there any way of changing your settings so
that you will see only status updates? This can not be done on the mobile
site.

Regards

Andre

It's on topic, but the issue is if people don't know if a particular subject
is on topic or not ask those of us who manage the list. I know it always
seems easier to ask forgiveness then permission but with almost 650

Maybe we'll have to decide on a course of action in order to get the
attention of people who do this kind of thing. I'm not picking on anybody

Subject: [JAWS-Users] deleting a program

Hi,

I am aware of how to uninstall a program but here is the conflict.

I have this program called protected folder that I grabbed from give a way
of the day several months back and apparently to uninstall the program, one
must enter in a password.

Two problems, lol. I don't remember the password or even creating a
password.

Does anyone know of a different route I can take to remove this program?

Thanks.

Yeah, you can put it on Win 7 if you want. You don't have to I guess, but
it's best to keep up to date. You'll have to put up with it sooner or later
so wwhy not?
