[JAWS-Users] Recent virtual ribbon thread
Not only am I a more proficient virtual ribbon navigator in Office 2010 as a result of the thread, I was able to resolve an apparently idiopathic disappearance of the lower ribbon options. It turns out that, by some way or another, the v.r.was minimized. I toggled minimized and the lower ribbon returned to its friendly, old self. Thanks, guys. [JAWS-Users] Expanding C partition
I have a 128 GB SSD that came with 2 partitions. The primary C one is about 95 GB and the other is approximately 23 GB or so. I have deleted the small partition and so now have that space available. Using Partition assistant I can resize C to about 119 GB but following the operation the drive will not boot. I have a second bootable drive for this Win7 machine and so boot from that so I can use JAWS to perform the necessary expansion on what normally is the primary C drive. I simply connect that to the machine through a USB port. This way I have speech throughout the process. I believe you can do it with C drive running but operation won't be done until the next boot up and then you have no idea of how long or where the process is as it is being done prior to Window's booting thus giving speech through JAWS. I've done this twice with same results. Partition assistant says the operations was completed successfully, but when I hook the drive back up to boot from it the boot portion must get corrupted as Windows says it cannot find a boot device. As soon as I put the image back on it it is fine. I have even tried putting that image on a spare drive and carry out the resize but get same result. Partition assistant claims you can resize the primary boot drive but I can't seem to do it. Suggestions? [JAWS-Users] View Toolbars Settings
Hi All, I'm setting up a Win7 computer for my wife but, when I go into Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer View Menu / Toolbars the menues option is checked , when she is in the same, the Menues option isn't there at all. For me in, Tools / options / view tab in the Tree View, Always show menues is checked. Now my question: When I make changes like, Always show menues, with Jaws running, does this only effect Jaws the Jaws user or, should these choices effect all users of the computer sighted or, blind? We don't have separate accounts on her computer, log-in with a password isn't required. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take care. Mike This email was sent from my, iBarstool. [JAWS-Users] trying this appending to clipboard thing
Okay, according to what someone wrote in, this is what I did. I selected an email and did control C. Then selected another email and press insert windows key and c. Nothing happened; isn't it supposed to say something. I continued on anyway selecting another email and doing the insert windows key c keystroke. Then I pasted it into a word document and the only thing that was there was the original email I copied. So what is wrong here? Re: [JAWS-Users] trying this appending to clipboard thing
Hi Judy. Depending on wich version of Jaws you're running, it's correct if you're running Jaws 15, but if it is version 14 or 13, than forget the insert key in the process. Re: [JAWS-Users] external portable harddrive
Hi Kevin, Depending on whether the drive is self powered, or USB powered, it could be an issue of the drive not getting enough power to run. Make sure that the drive is powered on properly, meaning all electrical connections are made and any power buttons are switched to the on position. Also, make sure that the drive is plugged into a USB 2.0 port, and nothing less. This actually helps you with my next point, which is that if the drive is not self powered, meaning there are no electrical cords to plug into an electrical socket, then you can only use a USB 2.0 port, or else, get a USB cord with two USB male connections on one side so you can plug it into two USB 1.0, or 1.1 ports, as that's the only way you'll get the drive to have enough power to run. Hope this helps.
