Tom, If, you enter on a heading nothing is going to happen in the internet and jaws. A heading is like describing where you are at the current time and the following sub menus on what you want to look at, and after a heading, that's when links, options, menus etc will start to read. Or like a road sign, then the road divides and goes somewhere. I hope my description of a heading is helpful. The iPhone has a lot of headings that just direct you to the next menu or option. [JAWS-Users] Internal wireless switch
Hi, I believe I have this problem with my other laptop because it cannot pick up the wifi signal. The external wireless switch is on. So, the internal must be off? Can some one help? Using the FN key + F12, or something in that command put you on that menu, but I believe jaws will not speak. Has anyone on the list ever turn on the internal wireless switch? Thanks, PS- This is the second time I post this query. Jorge For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] Internal wireless switch
Hi Jorge, I never knew there was an external and an internal switch. It would depend on how you are accessing the wireless menu. You can try accessing it through your control panel. It is under windows mobility center or something similar. You should get a wireless status like currently connected and then give you the connection status. Another thing to try is I'm not sure what kind of laptop you have, but if you take your finger and run it along the top where your mouse pad is, you might be able to control your wireless that way. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks, Kelsey Nicolay For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] Internal wireless switch
Hi Jorge, I believe there is some mis-understanding of some terms here. A laptop, notebook etc has an internal wireless adapter, as opposed to one that is plugged into some type of port on the outside of it's case. Some devices have an actual mechanical switch on the outside of the case, while others use a software switch thru some type of a keystroke. It would be my guess that if you have an actual slide-type switch on the outside of your computer, to turn the wireless on or off, then there is not a specific keystroke to perform this task. If you are sure that the external switch is in the on position, then you should check the device manager for your wireless adapter, and make sure that is in fact enabled. If you would include more specific information about the version of Windows and brand of computer it would be much easier to help track down the problem. Re: [JAWS-Users] Internal wireless switch
Interestingly enough my Lenovo has a external switch as well as a key combination to disable the internal wireless card. Honestly though I have not ever really concerned myself with the key command since the switch is right in the front and most of the time I use an external wireless card on the N band since the built in card is on the G band. Re: [JAWS-Users] Internal wireless switch
Hi Rick, Thank you for correcting my termonalogy to the wireless adapter. Yes, my external is on the ON position. Even though that it is turned ON, I heard my son in law do a key command to get to the wireless internal adapter one time. I cannot remember, if it was the FN key + F8 or maybe F12. I did try the device Manager and enter on S for more. It did take me to a large menu drop down list. But, I need to be awake more to mess with this. When, I get the key command, I'll send them to you. And I'll play more with the wireless Take care, Jorge . -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Rick Justice Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2014 9:23 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Internal wireless switch Hi Jorge, I believe there is some mis-understanding of some terms here.
