[JAWS-Users] error ie10
Hello, Windows 8-64 bits, Jaws 15. Olease, I need help with IE10 wich stopped working suddenlly. Wen I try to open it, either from the task bar, or program files (the iexplorer.exe), I get an error messae something like that the program has stopped working and has to be closed. Now, if I search it in the start menue I can open the program, but then I can’t find the ribbons or menue. I think this one is the metro interfase. I have tried a fiew things to solve the problem, 1. I disabled some of the addon that according to the troubleshoting and avast, are not very reputable and can be afecting the program. 2. I wanted to do a repair, but the program does not appear in program features, and the repair option is not in the context menue either, only uninstall. Perhpas some one could tell me how to make this work? 3. I wanted to restore the system back a fiew days, but I can’t find a list of dates to go back. The date that appears in the restores is the last point where changes were done. But I need to go at least, three days back. Windows xp gave that chance. Can this be done with Windows 8? Thank you in advance. Regards, Teresa Arroyo --- Este mensaje no contiene virus ni malware porque la protección de avast! Convenient OCR will perform OCR on what is on the screen with JAWS 15, but if you want do use it to perform OCR on a PDF document, you will need JAWS 16. This is why you are having this trouble. Re: [JAWS-Users] [EXTERNAL] Re: convenient o c r
Simon, this from the JAWS 16 Beta information: Enhanced Convenient OCR for PDF Documents The Convenient OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature now allows you to recognize entire PDF documents. Convenient OCR was first introduced in JAWS 13 and allows you to recognize any images visible on the screen in order to access text contained in the image that would normally be inaccessible to JAWS. This included inaccessible PDF documents where you could only recognize the currently visible text. In JAWS 16, if you open a PDF document and you do not find any text to read, press INSERT+SPACEBAR, O to access the OCR layer and then press the letter D. JAWS begins recognizing the text of the entire document featuring a very high degree of accuracy as the results are not affected by the current screen resolution, as they are when recognizing the current screen or window. After several seconds, the contents of the PDF file are displayed in the Results Viewer for reading. Use standard reading commands to review the text or select and copy sections of content for pasting in other applications. For example, you could select all, then copy and paste into a Microsoft Word document, which you could then save. Note: The OCR process takes longer for larger PDF files. As text is recognized, it is added to the end of the existing text already in the Results Viewer. This allows you to continue reading without interruption as the document is processed. robin -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of simon wong Sent: October 22, 2014 2:28 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] [EXTERNAL] Re: convenient o c r Okay, well I can't really decide what John's vision I'm going to get, apparently that's up to whatever at the rehab center will get for me. You said, Once it says empty document then do a JAWS key plus the letter O. Then tap the letter d for document. It should then convert the text image into readable text. But, we know you meant to say to press the Jaws key + spacebar, then press, O, then, D. Take care. It worked. Since I couldn't oopen the program I went to internet options through the control panel and reset IE as you said. I also found that multiples pages were on screen, so I had to delete temporary files. Now it is working like it should be. Tnaks again. Then, tab down twice to the Reset button and press enter on it. Follow any other prompts, and let it finish resetting itself. hth, Mike blindb...@comcast.net -Original Message- From: Teresa Arroyo Sent: Wednesday, October 22, 2014 7:28 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] error ie10 Hello, Windows 8-64 bits, Jaws 15.
