Re: [JAWS-Users] Is Malware bytes compatible with JAWS?
Hi Jo Lu, Malware Bytes 2.03 was recently released and yes, it is JAWS compatible. The interface is quite different than what we were used to, but some new features have been introduced that, I think, make it a better program. It can be a little confusing at first, but after you study it for awhile, I think you should be able to catch on to it. There is also a users guide available on the Malware Bytes website, or I can forward it to you if you wish. When you press enter on one of the buttons in the interface, do not expect the screen to completely change, the changes take place further down the screen, making it necessary to tab down the page to find the information which pertains to the name of the button. If I can help you or anyone else on the list with this, I will be glad to do so. Keep in mind that not all features are available in the free version that are in the premium version, for instance, the Hyper scan which is what we all knew as the Quick scan, is no longer available in the free version. You will want to run the Threat scan, which is the same as a full scan. A good point is that the program now scans much faster than it used to. I ran a Threat scan on my Lenovo notebook, over 43,000 items scanned, in about 11 minutes. hth, Best, Mike blindb...@comcast.net -Original Message- From: Jo Luland Sent: Wednesday, October 29, 2014 2:43 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Is Malware bytes compatible with JAWS? Hello all, Malware Bytes 2.03 has recently been released, and it is JAWS compatible. There are a lot more features than before, and not all features in the premium version are available in the free version, such as the quick scan, now known as the Hyper scan. Lenny, The GFI referred to in the thread that you posted is GFI Security, the company who owns Vipre Anti Virus. Your computer was probably trying to send some sort of report to them. Most likely, a threat report on something either quarranteened on your computer, or one that was caught trying to come onto your computer. [JAWS-Users] Jaws 16 and Authorization Key
Hi, When I installed Jaws 16 I was told that I needed to enter an authorization key. Where can I find that key or CD? Thanks For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] [EXTERNAL] Jaws 16 and Authorization Key
If you are installing JAWS for the first time, the 20 digit authorization number should be on the jacket that the DVD comes in. It should be in both print and Braille. If you are installing from an upgrade disk, or from a download, you will need to locate the disk that you started with and use that authorization number. You should save that original disk because there will be times in the future that you will need to reinstall JAWS, either on new computers, or if you have a crash, and need to reinstall Windows and all of your software. This has happened to me several times at work. Re: [JAWS-Users] [EXTERNAL] jaws versions
A pdf image is an image of the document, not marked-up with text itself, but more like where a picture is taken of the page of print. The free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader can't recognize those types of pages. Your only two options are to import them into an OCR program such as OpenBook, or to use the Jaws 16 Document recognition which incorporates a version of Abbey Fine Reader OCR to recognize the document. It works quite nicely! List, I went ahead an installed my copy of Office 2010 on my new laptop instead of going to office 2013. In setting up the Outlook for 2010, I have not been able to get a message I have just read to be deleted with the delete key and then go to the next unread message and start reading that message. Re: [JAWS-Users] [EXTERNAL] jaws versions
When you open a pdf image page or document in Adobe Reader, you'll hear JAWS say: Alert! Empty document. In the event that the file contains both text pages and image pages, the text pages will be read but the image pages will display the Alert as above. Then, if you wanna read those image pages, import them from another OCR program or use JAWS16's document OCR feature. I've found it to be reasonably accurate. poor pdf's = poor OCR! - Original Message - From: Tom tclar...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Thursday, October 30, 2014 12:37 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] [EXTERNAL] jaws versions guess I don't either then. what's the difference in the 2? -Original Message- From: Flor Lynch Sent: Wednesday, October 29, 2014 6:57 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] [EXTERNAL] jaws versions Lucky so far, I'd say.
