Re: [JAWS-Users] [EXTERNAL] McAfee internet security suite
Hi Anna, I have McAfee both at work and at home, and it is largely inaccessible. The best way to start is if you have it in your system tray, or now I think they call it notification area, right click the McAfee icon and go from there. You may need to use the JAWS cursor to locate options, and you may need sighted assistance. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of anna vimini Sent: Friday, November 07, 2014 9:42 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [EXTERNAL] [JAWS-Users] McAfee internet security suite Hi all using this program as their anti-virus program . Hi Jo, Vipre 2014 is very accessible but, Vipre 2015 is not for both programs. There are some frame label files available that make the Scan Options tab in Settings very navigable so you don't have to use the Jaws cursor to navigate this particular tab in Settings. This is the only tab that was a Jaws cursor must in settings. You would have to contact Vipre to ask them if 2014 is still available being that 2015 is out in Beta. Re: [JAWS-Users] Is Vipre Anti Virus and Vipre Internet Security compatible with JAWS?
Hi Jo & Lenny, This is the 2014 program. but, when 2015 comes out of Beta you won't be able to stop Vipre 2014 from updating to 2015 unless you run the reg files that Vipre has written to keep this happening for screenreader users knowing that 2015 is not accessible. When 2015 becomes accessible Vipre has written another reg file so you can say yes to the 2015 upgrade prompt. Vipre is working very hard to make 2015 accessible with the help from some very competent blind / screenreader users. It was with the help of these people that Vipre was able to write the reg files. I have the reg files if anyone wants them. Take Care. Mike, I don't know, the premium version doesn't have ads and it may download a bit faster. I used to see a slight delay after I pasted in the free version before the download button appeared. But, lately, it has been pretty fast and I'm not sure the pro version is worth it, unless there are download limits on the Free version. I don't use it enough to have encountered any difficulty. Hi Steve, Thank you very much for your input. Lately whether using XP or Windows7 I have to load the free converter several times before I get my bit rate & format options to show up. Also, once I can acces them when I up or down arrow through the options lists' Jaws isn't reading the choices so, I have to invoke the say line keystroke each time I arrow to be sure of what I'm selecting. Re: [JAWS-Users] Is Vipre Anti Virus and Vipre Internet Security compatible with JAWS?
Not so, I am currently running Vipre Internet Security on both a Windows 7 and a Windows 8.1 PC with JAWS 16. I have no trouble using the latest version of Vipre. Things have changed in the interface of the program, but it is still highly accessible. I do not know what bearing my having used Vipre for a number of years has on this, but if you are a first time user of the product, then I would think that you would be able to learn the program easily. Either of these softwares are good products, and once set up, need little in the way of maintenance. Be sure to set your definition updates to automatic, and schedule when you want Vipre to scan your computer, and let it do the rest. You would probably be better off to just try the Antivirus and use the Windows firewall, because this firewall does a good job, and there is no need to pay the difference. I would be happy to help you with the program if need be. Good luck. Re: [JAWS-Users] Is Vipre Anti Virus and Vipre InternetSecurity compatible with JAWS?
Hi Deb, No, that's not the way it will work. By default Vipre 2014 is set to not download Beta versions but, if 2015 goes out of Beta & becomes the current release your 2014 will update to 2015 unless you run the reg file that tells your computer / Vipre to not update. They're not sure when they will have 2015 as accessible as 2014 so, that's why Vipre with the help of some Blind programmers, for lack of a better term, wrote this registry file! This registry file needs to be run in order for 2014 not to update to 2015 automatically as an update. Then, when Vipre has 2015 accessible you run another registry file, created by Vipre, that tells your computer/ Vipre that it's okay to upgrade to 2015. I have the registry files & have ran the necessary file for not to update on all our computers. I received these registry files from 1 of the Jaws Users that helped Vipre write the registry files. I'm not going to say that 2015 is totally inaccessible because I haven't tried it but, I've heard from several people that have tried navigating Vipre 2015 that say it's not accessible, that's why I'm not going to waste my time. I know I could get around it but, I want a program that works for me, not me working for, it! Anyone that wants these reg files can contact me off list at: mb69ma...@charter.net If enough people show interest I'll put them on Send Space & send a download link to the list but, these files are small enough that I can email them as a, .Zipp file. Glad to know this, Mike. I use VIPRE2014. As you say, I just set it and let it go. Won't have to worry about updates until May of 2015, so hopefully it will be accessible by then. Why do they call them guidance counselors when all counselors do is offer guidance? Take Care. Hi, I'm going to download the free versions of the Vipre products mentioned above. If anyone on this list has any experience working with them, I'd appreciate some info as to whether they are compatible with JAWS? I'm running windows 7 64 bit and latest version of JAWS 15. Thanks in advance. [JAWS-Users] thunderbird 31.2.0 and contacts
I am using thunderbird (31.2.0) and I am trying to add a contact to a distribution list. I use to see in prior versions an edit box at the bottom of the list of contact names in the group to be able to add another name but nothing shows. How do I add names or would a prior Thunderbird version work better? I am using Jaws latest v15. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
