Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook express 6 for windows 7

2014-12-04 Thread Steve
Leonard,

1. Yes, there are scripts available for OE6. What it does is disable the
commented line so Jaws recognizes and runs OE using higher versions of
Windows. I think the scripts are available on the Jaws-users programs page.

2. It appears and functions as Outlook Express did in XP.

3. I can't specifically answer importing of contacts from Thunderbird, but
I'm sure there is a way to do it. You probably would export them as a CSV
file and then import into Outlook Express if there isn't a more automated
way.

4. OE will work with any email address you have. You just need to
configure it properly. Gmail works. You can find your server setup
instructions easily enough; you need to set your inbound port 995 and smtp
to port 465. SSL would be checked.

1. Do I need Jaws scripts?

2. Does the interface look like the old OE I used with XP?

3. I'm using Thunderbird now. Can I import contacts from Thunderbird?.

4. My email client is Gmail. Does this version support it?

5. any additional setup tips you wish to offer will be greatly

[JAWS-Users] help regarding latest mozilla firefox with jaws!

2014-12-04 Thread raaju
Respected list, I'm having a serious issues on my mozilla firefox, therefore

I'm raju, the regular user of firefox. Web visum is one of the striking add
ons for firefox which allow any visually impaired person to solve the
capcha without sighted assistance.

Actually I was happily using mozilla firevfox 8.0 on my win 7 32 bit
machine, but as I get complaint by many website suggesting to upgrade my
firefox, finally I've switch the latest firefox which is 33 or some thing.
As soon as I have upgrade my firefox, I'm not be able to use google website
in a proper manner which I use the most. I couldn't be able to figure out
the interface of google website which is display on the latest firefox or
jaws read out the content of google in a new firefox. In old firefox,
whenever we search any keyword, the result will displayed in a heading so
that we cannavigate the heading by hitting the h key. But this firefox
has no heading list for search result. In fact after typing my key word on
the search box, I've checked out whole website to achieve the search result
by up/down arrow key butt I really get no search results! Only it is cluster
by numerous adds and location!

So from this platform, I humbly request the experts to help me out in this
matter.

Sincerely yours,

Raju singh.

[JAWS-Users] cCleaner 5.00 new buttons

2014-12-04 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

I just installed the slim version of cCleaner 5.00.5050 from
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds . After the installation, I went to
the options tab to check if my general and monitoring settings were still
the same. But I found that the items that used to be check boxes in
cCleaner 4.19, like automatically check for updates and system monitoring
etc. are now buttons. I thing that pressing the space bar still toggles
these settings, but there is no feedback if they're active or not with JAWS
14, 15 or 16. JAWS Script Utility Mode reports that these items do have a
window class of button.

[JAWS-Users] jaws 15 and youtube.

2014-12-04 Thread jim rawls
I have asked this question before and didn't' get an answer, so I will phrase it
differently.

When I go to youtube and try to put in a search for something, here's what
happens.
I get a message that says use alt N and choose to show all content button. This
sometimes works when I tell it to show all content. Sometimes it doesn't. Now,
if
it does work, and I try to type in my search, jaws works very slowly, and when I
type in my key words for search, half the time, the characters aren't spoken.
Sometimes, the search button doesn't show itself and I have to guess where it
is.
Consequently, youtube has become a pain in the lower part of my anatomy. Smile.
Any
ideas why all this should happen? I have W7 and jaws 15. Thanks for your help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] updating from windows 8.0 to 8.1

2014-12-04 Thread Scott Duck
Hi,

In my case, it eventually got tired of me clicking remind me later and it
went ahead and downloaded it and installed it. One day, I was working in a
Word document and, all of a sudden, JAWS said "please wait while your
computer is upgraded to Windows 8.1" or something to that effect.
Thankfully, my wife was around and she completed the upgrade process for me
because, as has been said, it is not accessible. I know that many people
like 8.1 but, personally, I find my computer, which came with Windows 8, to
be less stable after the upgrade to 8.1. I wish it had given me a choice
about updating.

Thanks,

Hi Anna,

Unless Microsoft has changed the upgrade process since Windows 8.1 was first
released, I found the upgrade to be impossible. The upgrade evidently uses
the Microsoft Store metro app, which is inaccessible, and once I clicked on
"Get It Now", that's as far as I got. From this point on, JAWS will read
nothing, and there is no way of knowing where you are at. I resorted to the
Microsoft Accessiblity Support Group to help me get it installed. I also
always had trouble with it after the upgrade, and ended up buying a new
laptop with 8.1 installed on it, I have liked it since then, no problems. My
old computer, I reverted it back to Windows 7. This is just my experience,
but I do know many people had trouble getting the update.
