Hi Tim,
Everyone having a problem with Jaws should contact Freedom Scientific
independently,
whether it is by phone or e-mail,
that shows a more accurate representation of the problem.

HTH,

Tomorrow's another day, another way!
and if tomorrow never comes, problem solved!

If a report on this issue is to be made to Freedom Scientific, you can add
me to the list of those who have experienced this item count problem with
JAWS 16.

You shouldn't have to re-boot the computer to get Jaws to read correctly,
especially if you have just started the machine for the first time of the
day.
I am experiencing similar problems with Jaws 16, If I open a folder that
contains more than several hundred sub-folders, it does not report the list
view correctly.
I have a folder with 1875 sub-folders, and when I open it, Jaws will report
the name of a sub-folder, and report it's location in the list view
as 1 of 403, when in fact it is 530 in the list.
Jaws will not report the list view from the top of the list.
Having said that, if I use "Insert + Escape" to refresh the screen, and have
Jaws read the current line, it will then report the number correctly.
Yes, I too would like an answer to this as well, an e-mail to FS tech
support is no doubt in order.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Word tables: JAWS 16 Labeling/ Reading column headings

2015-01-26 Thread Steve Cook
You can also go to insert on the ribbon and insert a bookmark where the rows
and columns meet. Type the word "Title" when you add a bookmark and it will
then read the titles for rows and columns when you maneuver around. This
should also work when you share the file. If this is not correct, someone
please correct me. HTH!

You have to have the word doc open and the cursor in the cell, of the row and
column, of the table you wish to have the row and Colum titles read.
Incert+V to open Quick settings.
Note: Tapping the space bar, will change the settings, in the quick setting
list and enter will save your settings.
Move down to Document-Specific Settings
Arrow down to Document-Specific Settings, make your selection, it must not be
set to off.
Arrow down to Table titles and press the spacebar to make your selection and
press enter.

Now press Incert+space bar, then T for table layer.
Now you can read the table with only the arrow keys, when you press any other
key you will come out of Table reading mode.
You can also read tables with Control+ALT+ arrow keys, or tab through a table,
when tabbing you move left to right, to the end of the row, then move to the
first cell in the next row.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Word tables: JAWS 16 Labeling/ Reading column headings

Hello,
In Word 2013 with JAWS 16 is there a way for the developer of the Word file to
add labels to the column headings in a table, so JAWS reads the column heading
when moving around from cell to cell within the table?
FYI: Keystroke I use to move around in tables is:
Control-alt and the arrow keys

If yes, how can I label the column headings correctly so JAWS reads them.

I would prefer these table settings to be set in the Word file if possible so
the Word file can be shared with other JAWS users so they will have no problem
reading and editing the tables.
Thank you,
Bill

[JAWS-Users] Tabbing Through Fields in Outlook Address Book

2015-01-26 Thread vic.pereira
Greetings

I am not able to get JFW 15 to read the names automatically when tabbing
through the areas of the address book. Specifically when creating an
appointment, selecting attendees where some are required while others are
optional, JFW doesn't read out the names when I tab to the areas where they
should be listed. All I hear is semi colon for each entry. If I use the Jaws
cursor to review the screen they are there.

Is there a setting I've overlooked?

As for a bit of information, this is on Windows 7 running Outlook 2010 to
access an Exchange server. JFW reads the entries once I've closed the address
book. The issue is only when the address book is open and in the fields for
required, optional and resources.

You shouldn't have to re-boot the computer to get Jaws to read correctly,
especially if you have just started the machine for the first time of the day.
I am experiencing similar problems with Jaws 16, If I open a folder that
contains more than several hundred sub-folders, it does not report the list
view correctly.
I have a folder with 1875 sub-folders, and when I open it, Jaws will report the
name of a sub-folder, and report it's location in the list view as 1 of 403,
when in fact it is 530 in the list.
Jaws will not report the list view from the top of the list.
Having said that, if I use "Insert + Escape" to refresh the screen, and have
Jaws read the current line, it will then report the number correctly.
Yes, I too would like an answer to this as well, an e-mail to FS tech support
is no doubt in order.

[JAWS-Users] J16.0.1925 Update Direct Download Links & What's New

2015-01-26 Thread Mike B.
Hi All,

Below are direct download links for the latest Jaws 16.0.1925 update &
what's new in this release:

32 Bit:

http://files.freedomscientific.com/WebFiles/JAWS/J16.0.1925ENU-32bit.exe

64 Bit:

http://files.freedomscientific.com/WebFiles/JAWS/J16.0.1925ENU-64bit.exe

The following is a list of improvements made between the JAWS 16 December
2014 release and the January 2015 update.
JAWS
list of 12 items
• In response to reports from the Veterans Administration as well as other
federal agencies in the United States and Europe, resolved issues with using
JAWS 16 with Microsoft Lync 2010 and 2013.
• Addressed an issue reported by several customers where the virtual buffer
would suddenly appear blank while navigating a Web page in Internet
Explorer.
• Firefox users can now use Contracted Braille input when typing text into
edit fields on Web pages. This is especially beneficial in academic testing
environments,
such as Smarter Balance Testing, that only use Firefox as their testing
platform.
• Addressed numerous issues that were submitted to Freedom Scientific
through the JAWS Error Reporting feature.
• Resolved an issue with the People Search Research It lookup source not
returning any results.
• A customer reported issues when attempting to modify the voice profile for
the DECTalk USB synthesizer. This has been resolved.
• Addressed issues with the JAWS Command Search not locating certain
commands as expected. For example, Read Speaker's Notes (CTRL+SHIFT+N) in
PowerPoint,
and List Spelling Errors (ALT+SHIFT+L) in Word.
• A customer reported that if the Table Layer (INSERT+SPACEBAR, T) is
active, pressing CTRL+P to play or stop audio in FSReader was exiting the
layer. Now,
pressing CTRL+P to play and stop audio, as well as CTRL+COMMA and
CTRL+PERIOD to rewind or fast forward, will no longer exit the Table Layer.
• Resolved an issue where JAWS would say "read-only edit" each time the
ARROW keys were pressed to move by character or word in certain types of
read-only
edit fields.
• Addressed an issue where Convenient OCR was not working as expected when
JAWS 16 was installed on a system with a Spanish version of OpenBook.
• An issue was resolved where attempting to install a French Canadian update
for JAWS using Check for Updates was not working. French Canadian users can
now use Check for Updates to install the JAWS 16 January update.
• Addressed an issue with the virtual ribbon not being spoken in the Polish
version of Microsoft Office.
list end

Microsoft Excel
list of 1 items
• Addressed an issue with the current cell coordinates not being displayed
correctly in braille Structured Mode when a column or row is hidden.
list end

Microsoft Internet Explorer
list of 3 items
• Resolved an issue where JAWS would become sluggish while typing in the
Search edit field on Google.com.
• An issue was reported where Internet Explorer would intermittently stop
working unexpectedly on Web pages with JAWS running. This has been
addressed.
• Resolved an issue with Google Docs searchable menus where JAWS was not
reading newly selected items. This was observed with Internet Explorer 10
and later.
list end

Microsoft Outlook
list of 3 items
• If INSERT+ESC was pressed to refresh the screen while focused in a message
folder in Outlook 2010, resolved an issue where you could no longer move to
items in the message list using standard navigation commands.
• Resolved issues navigating the Phone view of the Contacts list in Outlook
2010.
• Resolved an issue where you could not use the ARROW keys to review a link
inserted in the body of a new message.
list end

Microsoft Word
list of 4 items
• Resolved an issue where JAWS was reading cross reference fields in a
document as a series of numbers instead of the actual text of the cross
reference.
• Resolved an issue where Word was closing unexpectedly in some instances
when typing in a form field that was moved to using the F11 keystroke.
• Addressed a customer reported issue where JAWS was reading extraneous text
when encountering a citation in Word 2013.
• If Typing Echo is set to Characters, addressed a reported issue with the
HOME and END keys not being announced when pressed.
list end

Mozilla Firefox
list of 2 items
• Improved JAWS performance with tables that use ARIA.
• Addressed an issue with JAWS not always reading ARIA labels on menus.
list end

Quicken

Intuit’s Quicken team has been working to increase the accessibility of
Quicken 15 for Windows. You will find many improvements in keyboard
functionality
and object identification in this latest version. During this process,
Intuit also updated the existing JAWS scripts for Quicken to further
increase functionality.
While these script updates were made for Quicken 15, they should work with
prior versions as well.

These updated scripts offer the following improvements:

Hi Tom,
You can also move the folder out of the In box and onto the main tree. That
is one of the options available if you go to the Ribbon and then to the
Folder tab.
Yes, you can delete folders from within the In box but I don't think you can
delete the In box itself.

The other thing you can do is start typing the contact name
in and then hit Ctrl K. This will then present you with a
list of all matches containing what you have typed so far.
The more you type in, the more precise the choice list is. I
use this all the time.

Best,
Al

Help desk at MS.
The fellow told me what to do and still nothing.
Finally he did a tandem session. He took Outlook 2010 off line. I am not
exactly sure what went on after that but he actually was back on-line when
both folders were deleted with the delete key alone. He made it look so
easy.
So, if anybody needs to do this and absolutely cannot, MS Handicapped Desk
can help.
Thought someone would like to know.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Files saved not going to My Documents

2015-01-26 Thread Mike Boyd

Hi Trish,

I am not sure how your default save location got changed, and I have not
used Windows 7 in a while, but try the following:

Press WinKey+E, select Libraries, right click on the Documents folder, and
select Properties. On one of the tabs here, you can include some folders and
Set the default save location , so the Save as dialog box for document files
should show that selected folder. You can do this for pictures, music and
videos as well.

I hope this works for you. As I said, I haven't used Win 7 in quite a while,
and I am going off of my poor, poor memory.

Need help to know how to fix it as well please.

I created a note pad text document, it was saved and went to another folder
than that of my documents, so can anyone please tell me how to get it to go
back to my documents when I save something either in note pad or ms word?

I am using win/7, jaws 15.

Thanks for any help!
