Re: [JAWS-Users] My DVD Problem

2015-03-08 Thread Mike Boyd

Could be worth a try, as you have tried everything but changing the drive
out, all US disks are region 1. However, with nothing selected, the drive
should play any region.

I did a google search for this problem I am having, this is what I found. I
did come across this region and nothing was selected, so wanted to ask yall
if I should give this a try?

I have an Asus N35SV laptop with Windows 7, Slimtype BD E DS4E1S model
Bluray drive.

I've checked their website which has no driver. I found them elsewhere and
installed the newest and previous to that drivers in various ways. Tried
Windows

Update. Nothing works.
No disc put into my drive will read. If I double-click in My Computer it
ejects and asks me to insert a disc. CD, DVD, Bluray, video, audio, or data.
Same

results.

response..
If you've tried all the discs, and none of them is working. You may try
changing the location once.

Right Click on My computer

Click Manage

Go to Device Manager

Right click on Optical Drive and go to properties

Click on Region

By default i'll show no region selected, Change it to US, i'll show a binary
value 1, save the changes, further check if it works

That doesn't sound too difficult. The stand alone devices also are duable.
Nice to have options. Thanks for all of your help/suggestions, if it didn't
solve the problem, least I gain some knowledge on how to look and check out

It is a pretty easy fix, there will either be a screw in the bottom of your
laptop, or a cover that comes off revealing the screw. Remove this screw,
with the drawer out of the drive, and it will pull right out. Put the new
drive in, in the reverse order. If the new drive comes with a disk, put this
in first thing to install the driver and any related software.

I plan to purchase the canned air and see if that makes any difference.

If it's the device gone bad, is this something easily replaced or does it

Sorry Trish,

Its been a while since I have had to fool with any of that stuff. Since the
drive says "Disable" in the context menu of Device Manager, that means that
it is enabled of course. To find where to change the drive letter and path,
you will need to go to Administrative Tools in Control Panel, open this, and
close Component Services, and arrow down to Storage, and inside of this,
focus on Disk Management. Everything I have read, says to tab to open Disk
management, and this works, but I do not find the DVD drive in this list. I
have seen it here before, but tonight I did not. Normally, in Disk
management, you can focus on the drive in question, and right click it, and
then find the "Change drive letter and path" item. You can check your
computer to see if your DVD drive appears here or not. I will do some
further research to try and find the correct answer to this question.

Trish,

I believe that the two real problems in the list that you posted were "drive
disabled in device manager", and "drive associated to device is either not
recognizable or is incorrect letter". Both of these problems can be
addressed in the device manager context menu when focused on the device. You
should be able to open the context menu, and press enter on Enable, and
take care of that problem. There is also the option to change the drive
letter in the context menu as well. If you cannot figure that one out,
contact me off list, and I can guide you through the process.

it is in the back room.

Can a wireless printer also be set up to be hard wired to a remote wireless

Almost all of the printing and scanning is done by myself but he sometimes
does print.

If I could have my computer hardwired to the printer printing time would
significantly be faster.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] dvdvideosoft support email

Hi Kevin,

See if these steps make it a little easier. Read the steps first to
familiarize yourself with the program.

1. find the program you want to uninstall in a list of programs that
first comes up when you start the program. You need to use first letter
navigation to do this or, use your arrow keys because I haven't found a way
to
put all the programs into list view.

2. With the program highlighted that you want to remove, open the context
menu and press enter on uninstall. You will get a dialogue asking if you're
sure you want to remove this program, tab to the yes option & press the
spacebar.
3. Now it's time to choose the level at which revo uninstaller does its
job. So, Shift + tab, into the options list. you have 4 modes Built-in,
Safe, Moderate, & Advanced. I always choose
advanced because some programs love to leave registry entries and little
traces of themselves everywhere.
These are radio buttons, so just choose the appropriate one.

4. Hit the next button and Revo will go to work and uninstall your
program, so sit back for a minute or two.

5. This is when the fun really starts. After you hit the next button,
Revo will display a number of left over files and registry entries from
the program.hit the tab key and you should find a select all
button, and a delete button. so first hit select all, followed by
delete. You'll get a warning asking if you really want to do this?
Answer yes. It'll then delete any files left over. Now depending on
how the program is, it may next ask you to delete registry entries, this
is the same as left over files. Don't worry, this is safe to do because
it only deletes the registry entries that are for the application you're
uninstalling, it won't delete anything else but that. So do the select
all and delete thing again and answer yes. Sometimes, you might even
see a screen that just has a tree view, but it has nothing displayed. In
that case just do what you would normally do and hit select all and
delete and that'll do it. After all that is done revo will display a
dialogue with a finish button.
Hit that, and you're done. you can then delete another program or close
the program it's up to you. Sometimes you need to use the, Insert + F10,
keystroke to open the Jaws task list & find the Revo remove option & press
enter
because you'll have landed on a blank window so you need to bring Revo back
into focus.

I hope this helps explain things a bit better.

Take care.
Mike

Re: [JAWS-Users] dvdvideosoft support email

2015-03-08 Thread Mike B.

Take care.
Mike

The menu you get when hitting alt is definitely different, but for the most

be able to do so well with Win XP-vintage explorer any more. At times I find

I'm not sure you can say that about it. The menu structures are a bit
different, and many of the usual keystrokes do nothing in it. It is very
customizable; but how customizable can you make it and still be effective
with JAWS? It is more responsive with JAWS16, and there seems to be more
keyboard access, than used to be the case.

Thank you Mike for all your help, it is a mystery, which since everything
seems to point to the device is enabled, it must be the device it's self or
this Slimtype software hindering it from working.
I plan to purchase the canned air and see if that makes any difference.

If it's the device gone bad, is this something easily replaced or does it
require some tech person to install?

I will do some
further research to try and find the correct answer to this question.

disable
uninstall
scan for hardware changes

same items are showing for the disk drive except minus the disable option

Under "computer" right arrow open, down arrow to item, this is what's
there..

For the BD-ROM Drive (E:)
context shows these items..

open
open new window
scan with MSE...
share with (submenu)
burn to disk

Update David and list,

I dl and ran this tool, however it was still unable to fix the problem. It
gave me 6 items of problems and all of which I am still pretty clueless as
to figure out just how to proceed here.
Some of the items were..
drive disabled in device manager
Slimtype not readable of disk
*this software was #1 on the list*
drive associated to device is either not recognizable or is incorrect letter
something to do with filters being low in the registery and/or not readable
or recognizable

so basically MS couldn't fix it. I guess I'll try to remove it.

Some of the items were..
drive disabled in device manager

drive associated to device is either not recognizable or is incorrect letter
something to do with filters being low in the registery and/or not readable

so basically MS couldn't fix it. I guess I'll try to remove it.

Hi Trish;
although I read that things are back to normal regarding your laptop,
battery meeter in system tray,
the options you sighted are options found in the windows mobility center.

you can get to the mobility center by using the keystroke, windows-key+x,

hope this helps.

But now in my system's tray, it is showing, the battery meter. I do not have

So, wondering why this is showing up?
It only used to state, "no battery detected"

Is this anything I should be concerned with? I entered on it, and was given

The screen brightness is at 40%, is this where it should be?

[JAWS-Users] My DVD Problem

2015-03-08 Thread Trish
I did a google search for this problem I am having, this is what I found. I did
come across this region and nothing was selected, so wanted to ask yall if I
should give this a try?

I have an Asus N35SV laptop with Windows 7, Slimtype BD E DS4E1S model Bluray
drive.

I've checked their website which has no driver. I found them elsewhere and
installed the newest and previous to that drivers in various ways. Tried Windows
Update. Nothing works.
No disc put into my drive will read. If I double-click in My Computer it ejects
and asks me to insert a disc. CD, DVD, Bluray, video, audio, or data. Same
results.

response..
If you've tried all the discs, and none of them is working. You may try
changing the location once.

Right Click on My computer

Click Manage

Go to Device Manager

Right click on Optical Drive and go to properties

Click on Region

By default i'll show no region selected, Change it to US, i'll show a binary
value 1, save the changes, further check if it works

hello;
I highly doubt changing the drive letter/path will have any positive results
on the current behavior of the DVD/CD drive.
it sounds like the drive has quit working.
you could,
1, have the drive replaced,
2, buy a external drive,

Thank you Mike for all your help, it is a mystery, which since everything seems
to point to the device is enabled, it must be the device it's self or this
Slimtype software hindering it from working.
I plan to purchase the canned air and see if that makes any difference.

If it's the device gone bad, is this something easily replaced or does it
require some tech person to install?

Thanks again,
