[JAWS-Users] getting to my folders in outlook 2010.
Hi All, I am running W8.1 and jaws 16. The only way I know how to get to my folders is to use Control Y. On my W7 computer, when I open my outlook program my folders are all there, even the ones I set up for different groups. Now, on that computer I am running outlook 2007, so is there way I can make my w8.1 computer with outlook2010 work the same way? [JAWS-Users] JAWS 16 and Streaming Video, Best performance is with Google Chrome.
Hi All, I never thought I would ever write a subject line that claims Google Chrome as the best functioning browser with JAWS, but I am now, for the limited purpose of streaming video. Going back to perhaps JAWS 15, I started having lockup problems when trying to access streaming video. This lockup would happen with either IE or Firefox, Firefox being worse, locking up to the point of having to reboot the computer. At some point, I noticed that JAWS 16 was performing its lockup recovery, and if I was patient, JAWS would come up and the video would start. Once I was able to play at least one video, matters seemed to calm down and things worked okay. At one point I discovered that if I exited JAWS just before pushing the final command to start a video, the video would start quickly, and I could then re-start JAWS without a problem. A few days ago I went to Google Chrom, and tried streaming video from Netflix, Youtube, and others. Everything worked just fine, and videos started quickly. I found JAWS to work just fine with Chrome for this limited purpose. Turning off quick key navigation (insert an the letter z) allowed access to the Youtube video navigation keys. I waited a few days so I could continue to try using Chrome for video. I am now satisfied that Chrome is indeed the best functioning browser with JAWS for streaming video. I originally thought the problem was with Outlook 2010, and, although I think that still might be a significant part of the issue, another problem has re-surfaced that actually may be more noteworthy. The problem initially occurred several weeks ago, and I thought it had been taken care of by our local computer repair shop in my town, but, alas, I was wrong. My problem is that I can be in the middle of an application, and little audio clips appear, and start playing from out of nowhere. The strange thing is that this happens when I'm not even in Internet Explorer. If I go into the Windows task manager, and look at programs running, a version of IE is running even though I haven't opened it, and there are web sites that periodically come up that I have never visited. One example that I can remember is called miniclip, which I believe is a games web site. My gut instinct suggests that this is a virus of some sort, but both I, and the techs at our local computer shop, haven't been able to find it. Today, an individual on the blind hams e-mail list of which I am a member described this exact same problem, but has not come up with a definite solution yet. It sounds like you have a virus. Some of those pop ups might have a number to call them, so that they can fix your computer. Be careful this might be a scam to get your information. Just call Microsoft, so that they can take a look at it. Hi. Hold down the alt and windows keys and press m as in menu. SpeakDropbox's menu should appear. Thank you, George. I have JAWS 16. Yes, you are right about the VA, and their budget. They should have a call in tech support, much like FS. So, those check boxes really have nothing to do with the browsing history? I can understand why someone wants to preserve the cookie information. Hi Steven, Yes but, I found a couple of other problems within my Win7 OS, I'm having a technician look at the computer today. I don't know if these other problems have any relation to my soundcard but, when Windows won't allow you to install an antivirus program I would think there is something major wrong! Re: [JAWS-Users] Win 7 system update
You might get something like that if the manufacturer of your pc puts out an update for the bios or the preinstalled software. Otherwise, I've never seen an update from Microsoft that presents that way. If you have it set to automatically update, you likely won't see anything. Otherwise, you should see something in the system tray that says new updates are available or perhaps new updates are ready to be installed. Anything else and it's likely *not* Microsoft. [JAWS-Users] clear cookies on internet explorer 11
Hi Petras. Here is the easiest way to clear your cookies in IE 11. Press the key command ctrl + shift + delete. The clear browser history dialog will come right up for you. Now, check all boxes of material you want to delete. If you only want to delete cookies, just check that one box. Now, tab to delete and press enter. You are done. Now, I think I know why you cannot find tools menu. It sounds like the menu bar is hidden. Here is what you do. First, press alt. If you hear nothing when you press alt, that means that your menu bar is hidden. Now, you do not need the menu bar to delete the cookies. I just told you how to do that. However, you will want the menu bar to show at sometime so you can get to the menus. Again, if you hear nothing after pressing alt, here is what you do. Press alt + the letter V. This will open up a view menu. Now, arrow down to the toolbars sub menu. Press right arrow on that, and you will hear different bars that are either checked or unchecked. Here are the ones you want to check. Definitely check the menu bar by pressing space bar. You also want to check the command toolbar and the taskbar. After you do this, just press escape twice to get back to the webpage. Now, press just the alt key again. I bet you will hear the menus spoken now, because you checked the menu bar. Please let me know about two things. Did you understand how to delete the cookies? And, did you get the menu bar to come up when pressing the alt key? Please e-mail me. jesusloves1...@gmail.com David For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [JAWS-Users] clear cookies in internet explorer 11
Hi Neil, After you press alt + T and select to delete. If, you tab through the menu, you still are keeping certain cookies of the websites you hang out the most. Deleting the history is simply deleting where you been, so nobody can know where your internet has been, if they press control + H. If, you are using Wind7, you should be using IE 11. IE 8 is a out dated Browser and it will run not as good as IE 11. Some people use older browsers because they use certain websites and get better results. You cannot always follow what the VA suggests. The VA Vist are not computer wise and always depend on a outside sourse for their computer consulting, assessments and evaluations. And the vist does not want to brake their budget, HaHa! But, will pay out ridiculous prices to these outside companies to come out to your home; That if the Vist would just buy or upgrade you to jaws 16, they would be saving a hell of a lot of money. 7 weeks ago my Vist hired one of these companies and a blind man on a wheel chair and a driver came to my home to assess my Dell 4 gig Latitude running Wind7 and Office 2013 running jaws 14 to assess, for jaws 16. The information he wanted, we could have done over a phone call. It was in the accessory under system. Are you kidding me! And I'm still waiting. I would have had jaws 16 installed, updated already and running with the horses. This club is the place for all your computer advice and help. [JAWS-Users] Youtube issue.
Hello listmembers: I have been a longtime visitor to Youtube, listening to many songs and watching interviews and videos compatible with many of my interests including, music, literature and history. Through all this time though, I didn't use any of the controls: (rewind, fast forward, Pause, Mute etc. I wasn't sure if they were accessible with my older version of JAWS. Now that I have JFW16, I want to use Youtube more effectively and access these controls. A day or so ago, I opened up Youtube through Firefox and turned off the Virtual Cursor. When I started tabbing around, none of the above-mentioned controls were referenced: just the standard Youtube links. Any help/direction is surely appreciated.
