I had a sighted person look at it. I hit the power botton and the person saw the same windows didn't shut down correctly error. Jaws never speaks that and they should fix that. So I hit controol-altogether-delete and it took me to a page to open up. Hit the enter key, closed the page by hitting space. Then it returned to the same error. Hit enter and the fan just came on. Nothing else happened. Black screen. Then I did another force-restart and hst enter to dismiss that error. The fan again came on and the screen was finally at starting windows. Yes! [JAWS-Users] Vocalizer Expressive pitch change or possible issue?
Hi all, The Vocalizer Expressive pitch now defaults to 100% and you can no longer increase it. Go to the voices sub menu, and then find the voice adjust combo box, and choose any of the cursors to adjust the pitch of that particular cursor, and you will see what I mean. Just wondered if any of you, or even maybe one of the people from FS who is on the list, know if this is the new behavior for this synthesizer, or could this be a possible issue? I just wondered, because you can still increase the pitch, but only if you are using the Eloquence synthesizer. [JAWS-Users] previous Jaws installation file?
Hi All, Does anybody have a Jaws installation file that doesn't include the latest upgrade? I installed the latest upgrade last night but I'm having trouble now reading e-mail in outlook express, and I just called Freedom Scientific and found out that the only way to roll back to a previous version is to have that installation file but unfortunately I don't have that. I'm up-to-date on my SMA's and I'm running Jaws 16, but I didn't receive a cd with Jaws 16 on it for some reason. Troy --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! I understand that Microsoft will be replacing Media Center, but only to a limited extent. There will be some sort of DVD playing program included in Windows 10. I haven't heard of any other truly accessible programs for watching tv and recording programs though. Perhaps when Windows 10 comes out tv card makers will be forced to make their native software more user friendly/accessible. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mike O'Brien Sent: Tuesday, June 23, 2015 2:36 PM To: jaws-users-list Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows Media Center and Windows 10 It's probably better that I make the subject relevant to the email. Below the search settings you will see other tabs that you don't want right now: i.e. Search results, Languages, Location, Help. 3. The first thing is Safe Filter results which you can check if you don't want explicit or violent sites. 4. The next thing is instant predictions. Here, to turn them off, you want the third radio button. 5. If you want to change the results per pade, you can do so with the slider. [JAWS-Users] Hi
Hi When the get windows 10 thing finally showed up in my system tray, I ran the check your PC on a Windows 7 PC. Besides telling me that some older versions of JAWS that are installed might not run under Windows 10, it told me that Windows Media Center would be uninstalled and that it could not be reinstalled in Windows 10. I have used Windows Media center with a TV card on my computer to watch and record live TV for quite a while. So does anyone know of another program that can be used to watch and/or record live TV shows in Windows 10? Hopefully, there is an alternative that is more JAWS friendly than Windows Media center, or at least as accessible with JAWS as Windows Media center is, which is not much Thanks for any suggestions. . As I understand it, there is soon to be an update of JAWS that will. I am waiting until JAWS 17 comes out this fall, then plan to get 10 and 17. But then, you know what can happen when you plan...? The thinking is to wait for 10 to come out so I won't have to learn all over again, should I do anything beforehand. Whether you think you can or you can't, you're probably right. Henry Ford. Re: [JAWS-Users] Hi- upgrading
Yes, Microsoft has stopped supporting XP. I can't update Internet Explorer, because of that, and when I got Outlook Express, because this bigger one had Office 2010 on it, the two did not recognize one another, Outlook Express also being extinct. So our computer guy had to tell us where we could download a Spell Check that would work in Outlook Express, and the crazy thing didn't know that Barrack and Obama were spelled correctly, had to add them to dictonary. I started getting all kinds of strange things in WLM and the spell checker after installing the new Jaws. I restored to the previous version and things were still messed up. So I hit controol-altogether-delete and it took me to a page to open up. Hit the enter key, closed the page by hitting space. Then it returned to the same error. Hit enter and the fan just came on. Actually we haven't loosened up the rules. The thing is once in a while this thread does talk about the system when it is up and running and then sometimes it doesn't. There for parts of the thread are all right and parts are not. With well over 100 emails coming across my desk every day sometimes they tend to get a little fuzzy a bit. You have a good point never the less, so let's shutdown this thread please folks. [JAWS-Users] This Did Not Happen With the Previous JFW 16.0 build
After I installed the latest JFW 16.0.3048 I hear a string like this when I home up to the beginning of a message in Outlook Express: Edit mhtml:{4383C9D8-43B0-4FDF-9351-F21AA1964515}mid://0014/ It also speaks when I first tab to the message body from the subject line. [JAWS-Users] window 10
For those who are planning to get window 10, jaws 16 is a must. The new podcast from FS, mention that any old jaws need to be remove to before installing 10. FS will create a link so people can go and make sure everything is remove from any old jaws version. The new Edge will not work with jaws 16 so they suggest that you go to default program and setup IE as default after installing 10. Re: [JAWS-Users] the get windows 10 appears on my system tray
you will need to go to check to see if your PC is. It will tell you so. If you do not have jaws 16 will tell you that previous jaws will not work with window 10. FS will come out with update for jaws 16 to work with it. -Original Message- From: petras Sent: Tuesday, June 23, 2015 5:56 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] the get windows 10 appears on my system tray is it compatible? - Original Message - From: Holger Fiallo hfia...@rcn.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Date sent: Tue, 23 Jun 2015 17:51:46 -0500 Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] the get windows 10 appears on my system tray it suppose to show in your notification.
