Re: [JAWS-Users] printing from the internet.
The only time I had that issue was when my default printer got changed to the wrong printer and I had to manually change the printer selection each time I printed until I got the default changed back. If your client has the correct printer as the default then this will be of no help. [JAWS-Users] Changing View on Webpage
hello, I am most stressed at the moment with my bank. They have updated their bill pay screen to tile formate and me and old jaws just went around and around trying to make sense of it. Is there something I can do when on this site to make it more jaws friendly? The bank sure isn't going to do jack. Re: [JAWS-Users] defragment ssd
Hi Kevin, Actually, there seems to be some debate over whether they should be defragged or not, so I'll just say, in my opinion, I don't defrag SSD's because that creates a lot of unnecessary writes to the drive, which in turn shortens the overall life of the drive. And the way the data is written to the drive, it doesn't seem to result in any real benefit. Yes, a flash drive is solid state, but some computers, especially the old net books can have solid-state drives containing the operating system. Re: [JAWS-Users] editing contact info in Windows Live Mail?
The best way to do this is as follows: 1. Control n to start a new message. 2.Control shift c to bring up the contacts. 3. type in the person you want to edit. 4. If you see the person you want to edit, smack enter to go into that person's contact info. 5. you will want to click on contact and or on personal. Hope this helps. Re: [JAWS-Users] Up grading Word?
Probably no discounts, but maybe from Microsoft if they have an upgrade price. You, of course would need to have your registration key for your current installation, and possibly some other information. But, most likely, you will have to pay full price. This is why I mentioned purchasing from a third party seller if you decided to buy the software out right. You will get a better deal than Microsoft will offer. Then there is the Office 365 route. This is Office 2013 sold on a monthly subscription basis. You will always have the latest version updated automatically, and for $6.95 per month you can get the personal version which will include Word, Excel, and I believe Powerpoint and maybe Outlook? but I am not sure about this one, but you do get 4 of the Office software packages with this subscription. To subscribe to this, go to www.office.com, and sign into your Microsoft account, and there will be an option to purchase Office 365 on the page somewhere. If you decide to purchase an Office suite, then you will find better deals on the internet or maybe at one of the chain type office supply stores. Try www.softwareking.com. Re: [JAWS-Users] Script Issue
This is our problem and FS needs to allow us to enable and disable this function or script as it is interfering with our scripts for searches, writing to ini files, etc.. very problematic. FS has had my query for several weeks so far with no adequate results. Still waiting. Robin East -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mike O'Brien Sent: July 18, 2015 10:11 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Script Issue Hi In JAWS 16, FS added code to determine if native JAWS code or events were being processed normally. After some specified time, if they are not being processed, this code assumes that something is in an infinite loop and will restart JAWS. I don't know if this code was added in a JAWS script, or in the JAWS base code itself. While a JAWS script is running, JAWS native code is not running. So in JAWS 16, there is a maximum elapsed time that a JAWS script can run. I have a JAWS script that looks for and documents debugging code I have added to scripts I've created which can run several minutes. I know it's monopolizing The PC, but I am willing to wait. I do not know if there's a way to change the default time a script is allowed to run or not. So there's no way I can run this script in JAWS 16. But it will still run fine in JAWS 15 and earlier. So if you're authorized for JAWS 16, you can run your script in JAWS 15 or earlier and then return to JAWS 16. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of East, Robin Sent: Friday, July 17, 2015 10:07 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Script Issue Folks can anyone tell me how to disable the JAWS new autoStart event. And, then how to re-enable it. I may be calling this event by the wrong name but it is the function that if JAWS crashes JAWS will automatically re-start. In the script below JAWS will crash and then re-start in JAWS 16. Using same script in JAWS 12 it does work. Please see see script for testing below and if anyone has any ideas for me please let me know. I thank you. Note, I have put this to FS and I am told to go back to basics of Scripting and that my variables are wrong and I need to use the LET . I am also told it is an infinite loop thus JAWS crashes. However, LET was dropped in JAWS 11 and this loop works in JAWS 12 and if one reduces the numbers you will find it does work in JAWS 16. However, with the current numbers of which I ned JAWS crashes, I believe, due to the new autoStart event. Just a guess. Thanks Mike for your insights. Vicky -Original Message- From: Michael Boyd Sent: Tuesday, July 21, 2015 7:51 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Up grading Word? Probably no discounts, but maybe from Microsoft if they have an upgrade price. You, of course would need to have your registration key for your current installation, and possibly some other information. But, most likely, you will have to pay full price. This is why I mentioned purchasing from a third party seller if you decided to buy the software out right. You will get a better deal than Microsoft will offer. Mike, Thanks very much for this help. Do you think I can get any kind of a discount on the price, since I have Word 2007? I don't remember if I purchased a stand alone Word or if it had other applications with it. Since I wasn’t in the others you mentioned, I wouldn't have installed them. Thanks again! You could purchase just Word 2013 as a self standing piece of software, but you would come out better in the end if you purchased an Office suite. You could get the Home and Student version which will contain Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and One Note for a little over $100. Word by itself will probably cost you this much, I have not checked in years, but the last time I did, the different Office softwares as stand alone applications were running $99.99 each. Re: [JAWS-Users] Up grading Word?
Hi Vicky, I'd seriously consider an Office 365 subscription if I were you. You'll get everything including Outlook. LEASEY also works well with Outlook so that would probably be a good thing to have. There are different prices depending on how many installs you want. It is a subscription, but the next time Office is upgraded, you'll get that at no additional cost. You also get a terrabyte of OneDrive space. go to www.microsoft.com/office for more information. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Vicky Vaughan Sent: Monday, July 20, 2015 11:36 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Up grading Word?
