[JAWS-Users] can't remove jaws 16 latest build from windows 10?

2015-08-30 Thread Adam Morris

Hi all,

Running jaws on a vm under win7 on windows 10.
I'm trying to remove jaws to uninstall it but it says that it is
unavailable in the list of add remove programs.

Wondering if I'm missing something?

I originally down loaded the original storm. What I'm loving about Outlook
that I did not have in OE is that when there is a link in an e-mail, I just
hit Enter, and big as life, there I am smack dab on the net. I had to go
down through a few things, but did get the storm, and it was a good one,

Has anyone successfully downloaded this file? I do not find it, I clicked on
the link in the email, then pressed Insert + F 7, but theere was no link to
download any audio file. I then went back to the original One Drive page,
and again found no audio file to download. I did click on the Windows 10
Stuff thing, and it did open another page, but no results.

I just discovered a new program to record with in w-10.
called voice recorder, very accessible.
you can see the buttons for record, stop, length of recording, when you are
done you can:
trim the beginning and the end of the recording, you can rename it as well.
it records in m4.a
I just added, w-10 navigation lesson 1 to one drive.
Not a great recording quality, I will get it better next time.
Use windows media player or voice recorderin w-10 to play it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Another Warning About Installing CCleaner

2015-08-30 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

To avoid Google Chrome when installing CCleaner, go to the CCleaner - Builds
page at http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds and look for CCleaner -
Slim. Notice the dash between CCleaner and Slim. This is the current
version that does not contain Google Chrome. There is also a CCleaner
Portable version on this page. The Slim and Portable versions may
be downloaded and installed by individual home users, but are not to be
distributed or used for mirroring.

Here we go again. I just installed the latest version of CCleaner, version
5.9 using the link on the JAWS Users programs page, and inspected each page
of the installation dialog very carefully with the JAWS cursor to locate any
surreptitious check boxes for also installing Google Chrome. I could not
find any, so I went ahead and completed the installation of CCleaner. But
to my great chagrin, Google Chrome was also installed, anyway, and set as my
default browser. Just out of curiosity, I took a quick look at Chrome and
found it to be just as inaccessible with JAWS 15 as it has always been. So
I had to use Revo Uninstaller to remove it and then reset IE 11 as my
default browser. Has anyone found a foolproof way to prevent Google Chrome
from being installed along with CCleaner? Thanks.

You stated there were things you did; yet you did not clearly provide any

If you would share those steps to me and probably a few others, would be
quite greatful.

Keep up your perseverance, as you are passing a vast amount of useful
technical tidbits, to many inn the Support Group.

2015-08-30 Thread Mike B.
I just updated CCleaner the other day to 5.09, Google Chrome wasn't
installed. I'm wondering if you installedUnchecky, then installed an
earlier version of CCleaner, like a 4.*** version, where they have the
checkboxes that you can get to with the Jaws cursor, unchecked Google
Chrome, installed, then updated to the latest version.

A couple of months ago I had to reformat / reinstall Windows7, 1 of the
first programs I installed was Unchecky. When I did a fresh install of
CClener Unchecky stopped Google Chrome from being installed, so I just don't
understand why it didn't work for you.

Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Another Warning About Installing CCleaner

Thanks.

Gerald

pressed enter, to select it. I was then asked if I wanted to save or open
the file. I chose to save the file. When I open my download folder, there it
was. I selected it and pressed, enter to play the file. It played on my
windows player just fine. When I looked back at the list of things to
download, I found windows 10 tips. Is that the file?

recordings from list members on the audio page in the past. I have been away

another recording if an idea crosses my mind so to speak. Often times
something will occur to me that might turn out to make a good tutorial which
is only the beginning of the process.

Hello Carolyn,

I was unsuccessful, as was Mike, trying to get the below
information. Would you Please outline the steps you took to
reach the final goal and download? You stated there were things
you did; yet you did not clearly provide any useful information,
(Step by Step) to get to the actual download location. If you
would share those steps to me and probably a few others, would be
quite greatful.

Keep up your perseverance, as you are passing a vast amount of
useful technical tidbits, to many inn the Support Group.

Enjoy your Sunday,

Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] ms word 2010 vertical alignment with jaws

2015-08-30 Thread Mike

Tom,

Alt + P takes you to the Page Layout tab, then you can tab down until you
find the alignment tab. By the way, when you were asking about resizing a
cell in an Excel worksheet, did you try the wrap text feature? This will let
you type a long line of text into a cell, and retain the cell width by
continuously adding lines to the texgt in the cell. This does, however,
increase the height of the cell. This feature is found on the Home tab below
all of the alignment stuff.

After you download it, go to your download folder.
press the application key, go down to open with.
choose windows media player.
Or, voice recorder in w-10.
press enter to play it.
here is the link again...

2015-08-30 Thread Geovanni Bahena
All,

That installer certainly does need to be more accessible. However, there is a
tricky but workable way. If you are using jaws 13 or higher, you can use the
convenient ocr feature to try and locate those checkboxes. Just find a spot
where Google Chrome or such as mentioned, and reroute your PC cursor to that
location. Eight HTML type of screen will appear, just use your regular reading
commands to find and uncheck the boxes.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Another Warning About Installing CCleaner

Thanks.

There is an extremely easy way to avoid all that extra stuff.
Just download a slim version of cclean
Here is a link to the page
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
no google toolbar or chrome
you can also download a portable version on the same page.

Hi Gerald,

When you get to the Install button, did you use your Jaws cursor to look for
checkboxes before pressing enter / spacebar to install?
Take care.

I had already installed Unchecky, but because the CCleaner installation set
up wizard does not seem to have any check boxes to deselect Google Chrome,
it would not have been of any help.

Hi Gerald,

Anyone who is concerned about unintentionally installing promotional
software may be interested in trying Unchecky.

http://unchecky.com/

It runs in the background as a service and monitors for recognized
installers. It then automatically unchecks any checkboxes related to
installing toolbars, browsers, and similar unwanted products. I've been
using this little gem for over a year it hasn't let Google Chrome install
yet, when updating CCleaner!

Take care.

Hello All,

In the last couple versions of Jaws the default is for forms mode to be
turned on automatically whenever an edit field is found, but what is the
procedure for changing it back to the way it used to work where you had to
hit enter to activate forms mode?

Thanks.

Call me Shultz, I know nothing For those of you old enough to remember
Hogan's Heroes. When I last called the Microsoft support for some help, they
removed C cleaner. The tech told me that it can cause more problems than it
will fix. I took her advice and allowed her to remove it. As I said I know
nothing about what it can do to your system but I am not taking the chance.

I quit using c-cleaner altogether about a year ago.
I thought it was a little heavy on removing things.
just my personal preference, I know a lot of people like it.
built into my mcafee anti-virus program are a cleaner tool, and a light
register cleaner.
I have used both these for about the last year.
They do a great job...
its coffee time again...ahahahah

Re: [JAWS-Users] ms word 2010 vertical alignment with jaws

2015-08-30 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Tom,

1. Press Alt followed by P followed by S followed by P to open the page
layout dialog box.
2. Hold down CTRL key and while holding it down press tab key repeatedly
until you move to the layout page tab.
3. Use Alt with V to move to the vertical alignment list.
4. Use down arrow key to the appropriate choice and press enter key to set
it.
5. You can then tab to a box where you can specify whether your choice is
for the whole document, from the point in the document with focus forward or
to a section if you are using sections. Just use down arrow in the list.
6. Tab to OK and use spacebar.

Take care.
