[JAWS-Users] Jaws 15 question

2016-01-19 Thread Naomi Bolter
Hi everyone,

I've been made an admin on a work related distribution list in ms 2010 but I
cannot modify the list as I am unable to click on it with jaws.

I was told to open a new message and right click on the contact list I've
entered into the to field.

Does anyone know if there is another way?

How do I accomplish that? I went to the ribbons, but found nothing that

[JAWS-Users] Updating Jaws SMA Upgrades

2016-01-19 Thread Mike B
Howdy All,

This is for those that are not showing their correct amount of SMA Upgrades
available in the Jaws Context Menu / About. This is what I was showing when
I pressed, Insert / Jaws key + J, to open the Jaws Context Menu then,
pressed the letter, A, to open about. I run Jaws from the system tray so
this is the keystrokes I use to access About from the Jaws Context menu.

Version 16.0.4468
Software Maintenance Agreement
Upgrades Remaining: 0

What I did to get the correct number of Upgrades to show, was the following:
1. Opened the Jaws Context Menu & pressed the letter, H, to open the Help
menu.
2. I arrowed to, Update Authorization..., & pressed enter.
3. Now, follow the prompts.
This is how I got my SMA upgrades to show the correct amount.
Software Maintenance Agreement
Upgrades Remaining: 3

Take care.

Hello Richard,
It sure did,Sorry I did not mention it earlier.

It work great with jaws and only required one command of alt + Y to start the
process and have your Word program open on a new doc.
It's a good tool to have, if you cannot reinstall openbook and you need to scan
important mail.
For $240 more or less.

I am back with openbook 9!

Hi,
At one time I used an OCR program called easy OCR from EVAS,
A tech group from Rhode Island.

800-872-3827

The cost was round$240.
It worked just fine for the price considering the price of openbook.
I had lost my openbook key number at the time.

2016-01-19 Thread john_Justice
I take it you didn't read my message as completely as was intended. In
fact, I did mention Jaws and indicated that it was the best screen reader
available. Rick, there are literally hundreds of posts on this list which
do not pertain directly to Jaws. Why pick on mine, specifically?

The above comments were posted with all due respect. I have been a member
of this list from the very beginning.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] FREE ANYTHING

It amazes me that people go crazy when they think that they can get
something valuable for free. I believe that we all have had that
experience. I had an old aunt who lived in Washington DC. She had a saying
which turned up from time to time. My aunt died in 1968 but the validity of
this still holds true even now.

"If they're giving it away for free, it's probably just as easy for them to
throw it away."

As visually impaired people, we have always had trouble getting the
supporting software we need. Jaws is the best screen reader in my opinion
but you pay for what you get. NVDA was developed as a working alternative
and it happens to be free. Unfortunately, free software can often be very
disappointing. If you are a Jaws user and you try NVDA, the experience is
like taking a cold shower. Does it work? Yes it does. But what a
difference!

I believe that we have enough to deal with as blind people and more "free"
software should be designed to make our lives a bit easier. Is the free
scanner as easy as Open Book? No way! But when you think of the
alternative, it's "better than nothing".

The judge has spoken.

Take care, everyone.

Greetings all!

I recently installed gold wave and using windows 7 (64 bit) with jaws13

We can creat a recording but it will not "playback" the recording using our on
board sounds.

We created an audio file using
logic tech usb headset H390

This time we were able to hear the play back through the headset. However, wehn
we disconnected the headset the audio file crashed or wouldn't play.

So I am thinking I need a dedicated sound card to playback my audio files.
Right? Help!
