Good question. Likely there will be a dialog on your screen telling you that

Hi "Shai,
I went into the add favorites box and tab to folders. The new Jaws update
does not announce when you enter the create in folder combo box. If you
arrow down then it will announce the folder name. If you tab away and tab
back to the combo box it will not announce unless you arrow down or up
again. Look to me like this is a Jaws issue.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] issue with Internet explorer11 on Windows10 when
wanting to add a website to a folder other than favorites JAWS 17.0.1806

Hello,
When trying to add a website to a folder other than favorites in the
latest JAWS17 update with Windows10 and Internet Explorer11, I
notice that JAWS does not announce folder name combo box when tabbing across
the add to favorites area.
To duplicate this issue try the following: when on a web page press alt a to
add to favorites and press enter. Next, tab across. The first item that you
should land on is a combo box with a list of folders which JAWS does not
seem to announce. The user however, can arrow down this combo box and add
the website to the chosen folder. Is anybody else encountering this issue?
All other items in that area such as the new folder button ok and cancel
seem to announce normally.
Thank you in advance for any responses

[JAWS-Users] Is the following a JAWS 17 issue or a windows 10 issue?

2016-04-06 Thread Ron Kolesar
Hi to all.
Anyone have the following problem when down loading a program or what ever, or
transvering a folder or file from one drive or folder to another or what ever?
I am seeing the following.
You would start the transfer and or down load and you would see the following
message
Get less details checked.
So you would tap your spacebar to uncheck that and the get more details would
pop up which is what you want but it tells you that the get more details is’'
not actually checked.
So to get the get more details to be checked to get more details you tap your
spacebar.
But when you do tap your spacebar thinking that you’ll check the get more
details the get less details pops up and it states that it is checked once
again.
So which is giving you the accurate info.
Are you getting the more details when you have the less details checked or are
you getting the more details when the get more details is checked like it
should be checked?
See my issue that I’m having?
Many Many thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Changing fonts in an existing documents

2016-04-06 Thread Adrian Spratt
Hi. Before pressing shift-control-f, or control-d (both do the same thing), you
need to select the text whose font you want to change. It's easiest when you
wish to do this for the entire document: control-a. Otherwise, use the usual
selection suspects, such as shift-control-paragraph for a paragraph, etc.

Once text is selected, press either shift-control-f or control-d to enter the
font dialog.

You land right away on a list of fonts. This list is navigable by first letter.
Press the first letter or two of the desired font to go right to or close to
the one you want.

If all you want to do is change the font, just press enter here to exit the
document and save your change.

If you also want to change font size, keep focus at the desire font, then tab
twice. Once again you land in a list. Arrow down to the size you want.

Here again, if you want only to save the font and size changes, press enter to
exit the dialog and save your changes.

Color is a little more complicated, so please post again if you also want to
make that change. Line spacing is done in a different dialog, which can also be
explained.

existing five page document in Word that I would like to change it to a
different font style♣. I have placed the cursor at the beginning of the

does not change the font in my existing document.

If I follow the above procedure in a blank Word document, the new font will

not be changed in existing documents?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Al,

Okay this is what I did to change the font in only the current open
document:
1. First make a copy of the document before you make any changes in case
something screws up. This way you will still have your default / original
document.
2. Open the document, & select all text with the, Control + A, keystroke.
3. Press, Control, Shift, + F, for the font dialogue, & tab through making
your font style & size settings changes.
4. Tab to the, Okay button, & press enter. Do not choose the, Default
button.
5. Press, Alt + F4, to close the document, & you will get a dialogue asking
if you want to save the changes, spacebar the, Yes, button. You have now
changed the font style & size for this particular document only.
HTH
Take care.

t and go down an dyou iwll find it,and then for size of th efont just tab and
for tab an d follow the prompts and just do ok button and selcect it. You are
done! For double spacing that is different steps! You can go top o ffile and

Hope this helps you! I look forward in hearing from you soon! :)

Hi Group,

I have a group name list in an Excel spread sheet. I want to search for a
name in the group list. I have used the keystroke ctrl+f for the find and
replace box. I then put a name in and press find. It finds the name I want.
But say I want to search again with the same name is there a keystroke I can
hit to make it search for the next name again. I hit the F3 and that did not
do anything. Does anyone have any ideas.

A strange but certainly inconvenient problem with this update is that it
won't authorize on either of my systems running a hardware dongle. I have a
lap top with an ILM key on it and it is not having any problems at all, but
my towers both a 32 and 64 bit systems lost their license. I removed the

Enhancements in JAWS 17.0.1806 (April 2016)

The following is a list of improvements made between the JAWS 17 March 2016
release and the April 2016 update.

To download the latest release, visit the Downloads web page.

JAWS
•Added an "Explore Utilities Folder" item to the Utilities menu located in
the JAWS window. In Windows 10, this enables you to quickly open the folder
where you can explore various JAWS settings folders, launch the Synthesizer
and Braille Manager to add or remove speech synthesizers or braille
displays, remove product activation, and more. Previously, you would have to
search for "utilities" in the Start menu to locate this folder. This menu
item is also available in Windows 7.
•In Windows 10, resolved an issue where JAWS would unexpectedly become
unresponsive for several seconds when switching between apps.
•Addressed a reported issue where text in the Virtual Viewer could not be
copied with MAGic running.
•Resolved a customer reported issue encountered on certain computers where
the HJPad spell checker was not loading the dictionary.
•In response to requests from customers who are creating domain specific
scripts, added a new function, GetElementXML, which returns the XML for the
element at the Virtual Cursor.
•When using the Windows touch keyboard, resolved an issue encountered with
some international versions of Windows where Touch Typing was not working as
expected. With Touch Typing, a key is typed when the finger is lifted from
any of the keyboard buttons. In addition, if a triple tap is performed on a
keyboard button, the panel of alternative characters now opens as expected.

Braille
•In response to customer feedback, if you type "girlfriend", "boyfriend",
"girlfriends", and "boyfriends" using contracted braille, these are now
properly translated.
•Resolved an issue where JAWS would sometimes not detect a Focus Blue
braille display after bringing the computer out of hibernation.
•Resolved a customer reported issue where the contents of the Windows Secure
Desktop or the Windows Lock screen were not being shown in braille.
•Resolved an issue where the Placement of Status Cells option in the Startup
Wizard would become unavailable if it was changed to None. This option
should only be unavailable if a braille display that does not offer status
cells is connected.

[JAWS-Users] Using and sharing your OneDrive

2016-04-06 Thread Jim
Good morning Jaws Users group,
Many of my group members wanted to know how to use OneDrive.
I decided to share these notes with you.
Below is the way I do it in w-10 with Jaws.
How to set up and use the OneDrive back up for yourself and how to share a
folder with others.
Open your personal folder link under the start area if you have it set up that
way, go down to OneDrive, press enter.
Or, type OneDrive into the search edit box, press enter on OneDrive desktop app.
Or, if OneDrive is on your Taskbar, press enter on it there, or press its
shortcut keystroke windows key+the number of its order on the Taskbar.
Or, press the windows key, up arrow to, All apps, press enter.
Down arrow to the A's, tab one time, down arrow to the O, press enter twice,
you will be in the programs and apps starting with O, press enter on OneDrive.
Now you will be in a list of default OneDrive folders, that you can use, or you
can create your own folders in OneDrive.
In this example, I will create my own folder under the main default folder list
of OneDrive.
While you are in the list of default folders under the main OneDrive folder
list.
1. Press Control+shift+N, for new folder.
2. In this example, I will type the name, "Jaws users", then press enter to
create this new folder.
3. Copy the files or folders you wish to back-up, and paste them into this new
Jaws Users folder.
Do the same thing if you wish to share this folder with others by a OneDrive
link , copy and paste any files into this new folder.
Now we need to sink our OneDrive folders if you wish too, you do not have to
sink your OneDrive folders if you do not want too.
4. Highlight the new folder, in my case, Jaws users, do not press enter.
5. Press the applications key, down arrow to, Choose OneDrive folders to sink,
press enter.
6. Now, you can choose a check-box to sink all folders.
Or, uncheck this, tab to the list view of folders, only check the folders you
wish to sink to your computer by pressing the Spacebar.
After checking all the folders you wish to sink, tab to OK, press enter.
Now, How to share this new OneDrive folder and its contents, with others
through a OneDrive link.
7. Now, highlight your new folder, in my case, Jaws users, do not press enter.
8. Press the Applications key, go down to, Share a OneDrive link, press enter.
By pressing Enter, This automatically pastes, a OneDrive link to this folder,
that you can share with others, into the clipboard.
9. Now, open an email to the person you wish to give access to this OneDrive
folder and all its content, in my case the Jaws users list.
10. Paste the OneDrive link into the email, this will give that person a link
to access the folder you are sharing with them.
What does it mean to sink your OneDrive folders?
When you choose to sink your OneDrive folders on your computer.
You have a copy of these files online, on your OneDrive page.
You also place a copy of these files in your OneDrive folder.
Now, the advantage of doing it this way is:
When you are inside the OneDrive folder and inside a text file in one of your
shared folders, for example.
Whatever changes you make to that text document, are automatically changed in
the text document stored in OneDrive.
Can I use the default folders of OneDrive, to place my audio or text files into
for back up, or for sharing with others?
Yes, you can use them the same way, as I explained above.
OneDrive is a cool and easy way, to share large audio or text files with others.
Microsoft gives each person a free 15 GB's of storage space on OneDrive.
I am currently sharing three OneDrive links to three different folders on my
OneDrive on my computer, with no issues.
If any of you still have questions about using OneDrive, please let me know.
Love God! with your heart, mind, and soul, that you might be blessed reaching
His goal.
Love your Neighbor as you would yourself, God will truly reward you with good
health.
Love God, your neighbor, as you love yourself, you will then be spiritually
balanced with wealth.
Love His Word that proceeds from His lips, then reflect on the heavens where
God sits.

same volume. I looked around gold wave but not sure if It can make all of
them at the same level. I also have express burn. I am wondering what is
the easiest way. With express burn I could probably make a cd and have it
normalize the tracks. I would then have to extract and copy them to a thumb
drive. Probably would have to convert them back to mp3. I would perfer to
use gold wave.

Hi Lenny,
You will need to go into the properties of each file, and uncheck the box
for "Read only".
To get to the properties, just select a file, then press Alt + Enter to open
the properties, and then use the tab key to navigate.

Rick, I installed it and when attempted to run, I receive the messages that
the files are read only. I brought up the folder and for the files tried to
locate where to turn that off. Any suggestions?

I have quite a few mp3 files and noticed that they do not all play at the
same volume.
I would prefer to
use gold wave.

A strange but certainly inconvenient problem with this update is that it
won't authorize on either of my systems running a hardware dongle. I have

a

lap top with an ILM key on it and it is not having any problems at all,

but

my towers both a 32 and 64 bit systems lost their license. I removed the
update and put the version from last month back on and the dongle works
again on the 64 bit. After lunch I'll take a crack at the 32 bit which my

wife uses. I just told her over the phone that I plan on getting her

system

back on its' feet so to speak.

Has anybody else encountered this issue? Possibly an email to tech

support

is in order, not sure right now exactly what course of action to embark.

Enhancements in JAWS 17.0.1806 (April 2016)

The following is a list of improvements made between the JAWS 17 March

2016

release and the April 2016 update.

To download the latest release, visit the Downloads web page.

JAWS
•Added an "Explore Utilities Folder" item to the Utilities menu located

in

the JAWS window. In Windows 10, this enables you to quickly open the

folder

where you can explore various JAWS settings folders, launch the

Synthesizer

and Braille Manager to add or remove speech synthesizers or braille
displays, remove product activation, and more. Previously, you would have
to search for "utilities" in the Start menu to locate this folder. This
menu item is also available in Windows 7.
•In Windows 10, resolved an issue where JAWS would unexpectedly become
unresponsive for several seconds when switching between apps.
•Addressed a reported issue where text in the Virtual Viewer could not be
copied with MAGic running.
•Resolved a customer reported issue encountered on certain computers

where

the HJPad spell checker was not loading the dictionary.
•In response to requests from customers who are creating domain specific
scripts, added a new function, GetElementXML, which returns the XML for

the

element at the Virtual Cursor.
•When using the Windows touch keyboard, resolved an issue encountered

with

some international versions of Windows where Touch Typing was not working
as expected. With Touch Typing, a key is typed when the finger is lifted
from any of the keyboard buttons. In addition, if a triple tap is

performed

on a keyboard button, the panel of alternative characters now opens as
expected.

•Resolved a customer reported issue where the contents of the Windows
Secure Desktop or the Windows Lock screen were not being shown in

braille.

•Resolved an issue where the Placement of Status Cells option in the
Startup Wizard would become unavailable if it was changed to None. This
option should only be unavailable if a braille display that does not

offer

status cells is connected.

Microsoft Outlook
•Addressed a reported issue where the checked or unchecked status of

shared

calendars was not being shown in braille.
•When pressing INSERT+H from a message list, resolved an issue where
Outlook specific hot keys were not being displayed.

Microsoft Word
•If the data in a table cell contains line breaks, JAWS now shows the

first

line of data up to the first line break on the braille display. To review
the rest of the line in braille, users can press the Next Braille Line or
Previous Braille Line commands or pan through the text.

Web Browsers
•In response to customer feedback,
