Justin, no criticism intended, and I worried about my post for that reason.
I did note your second post. I hate to admit it, but I've also posted errors
that other vigilant listers were good enough to catch. Promise, I'll do it
again, and then again. But I will try not to. I just thought it would help
in this case to ensure the right information appeared in a single post. JAWS
requires incredible attention to detail. This list is really good about
minimizing misinformation, which is almost always inadvertent.

I hope no one minds my pointing out that two posts on this subject contain
errors. Best to have correct information out there. Mike B's original post
was correct and covered the territory. Also, as since noted, these are MS,
not JAWS, commands. Here's what Mike wrote:

Windows key + up arrow. Or, Alt + spacebar, then press the letter, X.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws not talking

2016-09-03 Thread Tammy
John,
Thanks for the Narrorator reminder. I figured out that the sound I was
getting was something wanting to make a change to my system. Once I got
past that, I checked volume controls. While doing that, Jaws started back
to talking. The Jaws volume was not muted and was set at 55%. I had
rebooted several times Go Figure! I think I have a gremlin messing with
me. Lol!
Thanks again for the help! It was greatly appreciated!

the space bar and be sure the box is checked?
Sounds like that is the problem or it could be the volume control for jaws
is down to lowest setting. A couple of page up commands on the Jaws volume
control should be tried.
At least you have narrator to help you get into volume controls. After
those two fixes, will have to "noodle" the problem a little more.

getting sounds except from Jaws. I have tried loading Jaws from the desktop

the icon. I even tried loading Jaws 14, with no results. I have gone into
the run command, typed sndvol and experimented with the volume controls for
jaws. Still nothing. When I shut my computer down, it will say, Jaws for
Windows. Ok, I surrender! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

[JAWS-Users] using focus 40 with bluetooth

2016-09-03 Thread Bill

Hi,
I had bluetooth set up on my focus 40, and when I went in to bluetooth
settings in win10, it seems to say that the focus is paired, but I
can't quickly press the power key so that I can read with the display
what the computer has on it as you're supposed to be able to do
according to the directions. I'm sure that the answer is right in front
of me, but I sure can't figure it out, and I'm still new with this
display. I sure wish I could find someone locally who knows the focus
through and through, as I learn better from someone's experience if you
know what I mean. So, any clues?

thanks,
Bill K.

Optionally, you can go into the Windows Update program and look under the
optional updates section. Here, you will find any driver updates that the
Windows Update service recommends for your computer. Unless you are adding
