It's a small easy to use program that's suppose to help to recover files

I have used it in the past with success, but I haven't in awhile.

Maria,

Thank you for the word 'switch," which is much more descriptive than my
"button." I don't use a fingernail to move the switch. Instead, I locate the
gap with the tip of my finger, then run my finger fairly hard against that
side. You can tell when the switch moves.

As for your apology, if there's any terminology confusion, I'm afraid I
caused it.

Kevin, the message doesn't fit, but maybe confirm that you haven't
accidentally right-protected the card. There's a slot toward the end
on one side where a button sometimes gets pushed to the
right-protected end. You push or slide this button (for want of a

Yes, ctrl-shift-b is normally innefective. So, if you back- tab a number of
times (about 20) you come to the Seek left/right slider which gives the
number of seconds that have elapsed in the file or track playing. If you
hit left-arrow or up-arrow you will be taken back - 1/20 for each press.
Thus, in a file of 30 mins, one press of the left-arrow key here equals
about 90 seconds back. Conversely, right- or down-arrow takes you that
amount forward.

I just tab to the Burn button, then tab to Start Burn.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 18 Beta and mouse echo

2016-09-10 Thread Josh Kennedy
just to let you all know mouse echo is nothing new. NVDA has had very
good mouse echo for the past 6 years or so now. Jaws is pretty much just
now copying what NVDA has already done. Making jaws run faster and
restricting virtual cursor to dialogs on websites is good though and I
may use that feature.

Windows Media Player? VLC? Something else?

Hi Group,

Can someone refresh this old mind on the Jaws shortcut keys for
fast-forwarding, rewinding, in Media Player. Also is there a way to move it
forward or backwards in small segments as I am trying to listen to a Jaws
podcast and hear the hotkeys they are giving on the Jaws podcast. Any
suggestions on how to do this would be appreciated.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 18 Beta and mouse echo

2016-09-10 Thread Humberto Rodriguez
Hello all:

After listening to the latest Freedom Scientific podcast in which Eric
Damri tells us about the innovations of the upcoming update of JAWS to
version 18, the new regular mouse echo motivated me to do what I usually do
not do, to install and try the Beta 1 version.

I did and was pleasantly surprised with the functionality of JAWS 18, so far
so good, it seems fast, works well with Outlook 2016, IE 11, Skype and
everything I have done so far, I am happy with it and have already asked the
VA to update me, although unfortunately, they do not purchase SMAs, they
wait until the production version comes out.

I just want to make two ubservations: the first one is that the
transferring of all the custom settings from JAWS 17 to JAWS 18, although
the dialog came up and I went through it, did not happen; I had to make the
changes manually.

The second is that the mouse echo seems to work very well, but for someone
totally blind like me, it will take some practice to learn to use it
efficiently, to know where the icons and other controls, as well as the
borders, are on the screen; also through practice, learn to move it slower,
for I tend to move it too fast.

All in all however, I recommend all users of JAWS 17 to try it, I think it
is worth it.

Kind regards,

Humberto

Hi Kevin, have you tried Recuva by Piriform?
It's a small easy to use program that's suppose to help to recover files
from damaged drives.

I have used it in the past with success, but I haven't in awhile.
Here is a link to download it.

Thank you for the word 'switch," which is much more descriptive than my

Kevin, the message doesn't fit, but maybe confirm that you haven't
accidentally right-protected the card. There's a slot toward the end
on one side where a button sometimes gets pushed to the

Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem With Messages Stuck In Drafts Folder In Outlook 2016

2016-09-10 Thread Mauricio Molina
Hi Tom,

I had the exact situation you described. Using Windows 10, JAWS 17, and
Office 365, there was an occasion that a message or two would not leave the
drafts folder from within Outlook 2016 despite the fact that the messages
were sent. Like you, deleting did not work; Shift+Delete was also tried to
no avail. Rather than doing the legwork to locate a potential setting
configuration in Outlook, I signed into my Gmail account using the web
interface and deleted the offending messages from the drafts folder. I have
since not had this problem.

Hello, everyone.

I am having an interesting problem with my personal g-mail account in
Outlook 2016 in Office 365 here.

For reasons I don't fully understand, I have 5 messages stuck in my drafts
folder, that I can't seem to get rid of. These are messages that were
successfully sent over the past few days, but they still appear in my drafts
folder. I have tried deleting each item, esentially moving them to the
deleted items folder and emptying that folder with no luck. I have even
selected and individually deleted each message. When I have individually
deleted each message, I was informed that the deletions would be permanent,
which was fine with me. The items get deleted from my deleted items folder,
and even temporarily from my drafts folder, but within a few minutes, they
re-appear in my drafts folder again, as if nothing ever happened.

How can I get rid of these messages in my drafts folder once and for all?

Can someone refresh this old mind on the Jaws shortcut keys for
fast-forwarding, rewinding, in Media Player. Also is there a way to move it
forward or backwards in small segments as I am trying to listen to a Jaws

Kevin, the message doesn't fit, but maybe confirm that you haven't
accidentally right-protected the card. There's a slot toward the end
on one side where a button sometimes gets pushed to the

How can I set JAWS to read one column top to bottom then start the next

I don't know if the columns are laid out in a table or not. I am waiting

Hi

Just use the url
https://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0=en
every time to open Google. You may want to create a Google shortcut with
that URL to reduce the amount of typing or if you start Google from the
favorites menu edit the Google shortcut to use that URL.

[JAWS-Users] reading columns with jaws 17 and magic 13

2016-09-10 Thread Janie Degenshein
Sorry about the previous message the info was not included
Here it is and thanks for any help you can offer
I find that my JAWS reads across a webpage or other document so that,
say, if there are three columns of text, the reading winds up in
making no sense at all.

How can I set JAWS to read one column top to bottom then start the next column?

Thanks!
Keep Smiling,
Janie Degenshein

Re: [JAWS-Users] regarding google instant

2016-09-10 Thread Gerald Levy

The only other suggestion I can offer is to use Startpage.com as your search
engine. It will give you the same search results as Google without all of
the other garbage:

https://www.startpage.com/

address
www.google.com
the instant results are again displayed.

discarded once i reopen the browser.

Hello,
This is the query related to the google search. After visiting the
website
www.google.com
I tried inputting the keyword in search edit box and noticed that
while typing the keywords, some suggestions are appearing below my
edit box which suppose to be the geature of google instant. So I
clicked on the settings menu and after expanding this menu, Iclicked
on the search settings and under the search settings, I selected
thethird radio button i.e. never show the google instant and saved the
changes. Still this google instant is not disappearing from my google
search page. So does anyone knows the permanent solution to get rid
out for this solution?
Thanks,
mukesh

[JAWS-Users] Using JAWS with the BI40 display via bluetooth.

2016-09-10 Thread Sadam Ahmed

Hi all,

Trying to use my display with a Dell XPS UltraBook via bluetooth
running the latest version of JAWS.

Whatever I do can't get JAWS to work with my display.

So far I've.

Insured it's using the correct com port:

Installed the JAWS driver:

Selected the BI display in braille options and restarted JAWS:

Even totally reinstalled the screen reader afresh.

Any suggestions or tips before contacting VFO support?

Note: the display works fine with my iPhone and NVDA so must be a
problem with JAWS.

Your feedback and help is appreciated.
