Brilliant, thanks so much indeed.
There is also something that helps you to deal with a box in a web app that
seems to come across and over the focus, can you remember what that was called
and how to activate it please?
I Listened to the webcase and picked up on the mouse echo but didn't realize
that if you hold down inser or caps lock while using the mouse or touchpad, it
locks it horizontally, that is a very clever feature indeed!
Well done freedomscientific!

New Speech Option as You Move the Physical Mouse Around the Screen

The new mouse echo feature enables JAWS to speak text under the mouse pointer
as you move around the screen using a physical mouse or as you move your finger
on a trackpad. If you use a refreshable braille display, text under the mouse
is also shown in braille as a flash message.

While totally blind users may not benefit very much from this feature, there
are some cases where it can be useful. For example, there may be times where
someone is trying to understand the positioning of text or the layout of
controls on the screen, and this could be helpful. You also may encounter
applications that have controls that cannot be accessed with any of the JAWS
cursors and you must use the physical mouse to locate and activate them.

For users that have some vision, the ability to also receive speech feedback as
they move the physical mouse is very useful. There are also more improvements
coming for those who use both Magic and JAWS together.

If you find that you struggle to keep the mouse in a straight line when moving
vertically or horizontally, press and hold the INSERT key (or CAPSLOCK key in
Laptop layout) as you move the mouse in a specific direction to lock the mouse
pointer to that position. For example, if you locate a menu bar or group of
buttons you would like to explore, you could press and hold INSERT as you move
the mouse to the right. If you accidentally move slightly up or down, the mouse
pointer remains locked to the current position.

Mouse echo is off by default. To turn it on, open Settings Center, press
CTRL+SHIFT+D to load the default settings file, expand the mouse echo
CTRL+SHIFT+group,
and
then press the SPACEBAR on Enable Mouse Echo. You can also configure the
following:

over text. By default, JAWS speaks the new text moved to with the mouse
regardless of what is currently being spoken.
. Specify the length of time JAWS waits before speaking the text at the
location of the mouse pointer. If you move the mouse pointer away before the
delay has elapsed, JAWS does not read the text. By default there is no delay
which means text is read while the mouse is in motion so you do not have to
pause to hear the text under the mouse.
. Select the unit of text (character, word, line, or paragraph) you want to
hear when the mouse pointer pauses over text in a control. By default, JAWS
reads the current line of text under the mouse. This means that if you move the
mouse pointer into the document area of an application such as Microsoft Word,
JAWS will read the line of text under the mouse. As you continue moving the
mouse around the edit control, JAWS will read other lines from the document.
If the control cannot provide the requested unit of text, then JAWS will read
all of the text provided by the control. For example, if you move the mouse
into the edit control of the Windows 10 Sticky Notes app, JAWS will read the
entire contents of the edit field instead of the specified unit of text.
. Choose whether or not JAWS speaks descriptive information provided by the
control that contains the text at the mouse pointer. This information will be
spoken after the text at the mouse pointer is spoken. Note that descriptive
text is not always available. The default is to not speak this information.
. Choose whether or not JAWS speaks the control type and state of the control
containing the text at the mouse pointer. This information will be spoken after
the text at the mouse pointer is spoken. The default is to speak control
information.

Re: [JAWS-Users] run dialogue box

2016-09-29 Thread David Whitehead
Hello;
I do believe you can do this;

Not sure why you want to do this,
However try these steps.
Run History
In previous versions of Windows there was an option in the Classic Start
Menu settings which could be used to clear the Run history:

Clear recent history

But in Windows 7, the Classic Start Menu got removed! And in Windows 8,
there is no Start menu anymore!

To perform the same clean up, you have to right click on the Taskbar and
open its properties.

Taskbar Properties Menu Item
The Taskbar properties window will appear. Switch here to the Start Menu tab
for Windows 7...

Clear Run History in Windows 7
or to the Jump Lists tab for Windows 8/8.1:
Taskbar and Navigation Properties
Uncheck the Store recently opened programs checkbox, click the Apply button,
check it again and then click the OK button.

That's it! Your Run history is now cleared!

So in windows 8&8.1
Control panel,
T=taskbar&properties,
Now you need to ctrl+tab or navigate to the jump lists, now tab and uncheck
the box,
Uncheck the Store recently opened programs checkbox
Now tab okay, press enter.
The history should be cleared.

"I'm calling from windows" I think we all have had some of those calls. I
told him that I was not interested then tried to keep him on line as long as
I could to waist his time. He was getting pretty angry as was I. I told him
that my computer is clean that I use a very good anti virus and fire wall.
He said something smart and terminated the conversation. I went up to the
computer and about 15 minutes later everything went down hill. I received a
message from I.E. that my system has been compromised. Also that my fire
wall blocked several attacks. He then got through.
To clean it I first ran combo fix. This cleaned a few items. I then ran
super antivirus it cleaned a few more threats. I followed up by running
malware bytes which also found a few tracking cookies.
Finally a full scan with vipre and it did not locate anything.
I am using vipre fire wall. Is there something that I can set in the Comcast
router to make it more secure? Also any other scanners should I run?
I am pretty confident that the system is now clean but my wife wants the
added security since she does on line banking.
I knew that they were trouble and usually want to install rat software on
your machine, never thought that they would actually hack into it.
He did have my ip address. Not sure how they acquired it.

[JAWS-Users] thanks for image for windows

2016-09-29 Thread Lenny McHugh
Well those guys calling from windows really trashed my computer. After they
breached my firewalls they not only put some viruses on the machine but they
also created a bogus hardware usb device for which there is no drivers. And
worst they trashed the system restore points. They looked ok until you tried
to use one. After about 5 minutes it failed and there was no way to restart
the computer. I had a image backup from the day after the problem when I
cleaned the viruses. That is when the driver issue popped up. I just went in
and removed the no name driver and everything is now working ok.
I want to look for an either net switch. That way I can use the machine and
have all access to the internet removed. I also want to contact Comcast to
see if the fire wall in the router is active and set up properly. They got
through it first and on the 4th attempt got through my vipre fire wall.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and Total Recorder

Hi group,

I'm using Total Recorder Pro 8.6 and I need to be reminded of something.
What do I do to configure Total Recorder so Jaws is not heard in the
recording? It's been some time since I used TR and I'm not remembering what
I need to do. If anyone can please help I would really appreciate it.

Thanks much,
Norma

Lenny,
Try the Hitman Pro for $24 a year,
I believe they have a sale around black Friday,
I like it better than Malwarbytes,
It is easier to run and save the scan report with the Hitman Pro, than
Malwarebytes,
Malwarebytes, has not been to jaws friendly the last year an a half,
