Re: [JAWS-Users] Folders List View Question
Hi Tom, When the, None, option is checked it doesn't show when you expand / open the Group By submenu. These are the options that show: Name Unavailable Ascending Unavailable descending More The steps I gave earlier are basically how I have my View menu options set. Whenever I open a folder they're in Items view, in a list, & Jaws speaks the number of items. Once you get comfortable with making settings changes in the View menu you can tweak them all sorts of ways. But, when I open a folder I only want to hear how many items, want them in List view, want to be able to navigate by 1st letter navigation, etc. I don't want to hear all the details of each item as I arrow down through the list of files & folders. You may not like your settings this way, so that's why it takes some experimentation to get the settings where you want them. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] remove amazon assistant
Here's a suggestion, the one time I installed the Amazon Assistant, thinking I might want it, I had no problems removing it and it never came back, so I have no clue if this will help. Before uninstalling it, go to the control panel, then to internet options, then to the programs tab, then to the add ons manager. In the manager, locate the Amazon Assistant in the list of add ons, and disable it, then exit out of the manager and internet options. Then try uninstalling it. You might also want to try contacting Amazon, if this is a recurring problem, they may have a solution. Cheers! On 1/5/2017 6:15 PM, zoe fiogkos wrote: Hi there, I have the same problem. Re: [JAWS-Users] Reading the IE notification bar
The web site I used to try the suggested way to read the bar isn't such a problem as the notification bar gets read soon after the page title is read. On other pages JAWS keeps reading and reading and reading and seems to be avoiding the notification bar as much as possible. I was simply reminded of the problem when I visited the web site for the V I P talking thermostats, which tries to run Windows media player. Most of the time I just started a download, so I know what the notification bar is about, but sometimes, when the download is done, I get a different set of buttons that tell me that some issue has come up with the download, and getting that message read in a timely manner can be a real chore. In short, I am sometimes reminded of how much I wish Microsoft had left the dialogs in Internet Explorer, what ever happened to the notion that if it isn't broken, don't fix it? Cheers! The left and right arrows don't seem to do anything, to navigate the buttons in the notification bar you have to use tab. Re: [JAWS-Users] remove amazon assistant
Hi there, I have the same problem. I emailed 2 different lists but no one had any answers. I too remove the program completely from the control panel but it just keeps coming back. I have disabled the search engine in internet explorer but still nothing. I've been told to call Microsoft so they can remove it for me but I haven't had the time. If you find any solution please share I would appreciate it. Regards Zoe by the intersessions of the holy Theotokos, Lord have mercy on us. As you're finding out, what we call the information bar acts inconsistently, and I have sometimes found that the arrow keys work instead of tabs. But for the most part, it works fine with tabs. Re: [JAWS-Users] Excell 2013 Keyboard Commands
Locate your cursor on the row you wish to delete, then highlight the row you want to delete by pressing shift and the spacebar together. Then press your application key, arrow down until you hear delete and press enter and your row will be deleted. You may want to take note of the other selections there, they can be useful. Just a tip if you want to highlight a column you can locate your cursor on the column you want to work with and press control and the spacebar. Then using your application key there are several useful choices you may find helpful in the future. Hi Tom, 1. While you're in the folder press, Alt + V, to open the View menu. 2. Make sure that the, Status bar & List are checked as you arrow 3. In, Submenu Sort By, make sure, Name, is checked. 4. In, Submenu Group By, make sure, None, is checked. If, None, is checked it won't show after you expand / open this option. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Accessing iTunes with JAWS18
I haven't gotten to the step of moving any of my music or play lists to my iPhone. I first have to get the items into iTunes and then make a play list. Actually, I have accomplished getting the tracks into iTunes, with the acception of one track. I'm pretty sure that the track is in iTunes, but it is not grouped with the rest of the tracks from that CD. I've attempted to go in and edit the info for that track, but iTunes will not let me edit it. I was able to edit the other tracks. I haven't a clue what is going on. I really have a love hate relationship with iTunes. I am trying to add new content to my iTunes library so that I can make a Play List and then put that Play List on my iPhone. I am using the latest version of iTunes and JAWS18 on a Windows7 machine. I find that sometimes using Tab or Control+Tab or F6 all do the same thing for navigating, and other times they do not. When I land on most buttons, JAWS announces to use the Space Bar to select, but I find that if it is going to let me select it, I will have to use the Enter key. I thought that when you selected Add to Library from the File Menu iTunes would go out and find any new content, i.e. MP3's on your hard drive and add them to the iTunes folder, and to the iTunes library. This is not happening. I've even tried pasting the new MP3 files in the iTunes folder and then going through what I think are the steps for adding them to the iTunes library, and they still do not show up. I am selecting Add to Library, and then in the dialog box that pops up I am thinking that I am selecting one of the items in the list, and I do hear the iTunes sound that usually indicates it is finished. Can anyone help me with this?
