[JAWS-Users] Jaws and BARD

2017-03-16 Thread Miriam Vieni
I know that BARD has had issues. But everyone on the BARD Talk list seems
now to be using it with no problem. I, on the other hand, am having
difficulties with the Recently Added Books link. Normally it won't work for
me and if I try to use that link, it seems to turn Jaws off. I now have Jaws
18 and it was just recently updated. Is anyone else having this issue? I
have a windows 7, 64 bit computer.

Hi Iram,

Do you get the same behavior if you use the, F5 key, when checking for new
messages instead of, Control + M? Is your internet service provider
experiencing any problems?

Hello Mike;
Well, I decided to install Jarte on my home computer,
What I did was,
First, copy the following to the clipboard,
"enable screen reader mode"
Next I installed the jarte program,
Once the installation was finished,
And I opened the program, it opened in screen reader mode, and I had access
to the menu's and such.
Hope this helps.
I had no idea about this "enable screen reader mode"

What do you do after you 've copied,

"enable screen reader mode"

to the clipboard to get Jaws speaking inJart? Thanks much.

Hello,
There is a trick to getting screen reader mode working. You can force Jarte
to switch to screen reader mode by copying the phrase "enable screen reader
mode" to the Windows clipboard before starting Jarte. This only needs to be
done one time. This should do what you need.

Hello,
You can use any editor to copy the phrase to the clipboard. Once you do all
you have to do is open up Jart and screen reader mode should be enabled. If
jart was already open you will need to close it and reopen.

One think I did see was that you can use the right mouse button in the
signature and you can also edit it or change it like that. You might be
able to create a new signature with that also. Has anyone tried that?

Trevor,

I just got done doing one and still had my notes open. They are for 2010,
don't know if they changed at all for other versions.

Creating a signature in Outlook 2010

1. Alt+f=file menu.
2. T=options.
3. Down-Arrow once to mail.
4. Tab several times until you get to the word signature.
5. Press you're spacebar.
6. Tab a few times.
7. "you will hear "signature to edit".
8 Arrow up/ down until you find the email address that you want to attach
to your signature.
9 Tab twice, you will hear, "New signature".
10. Press enter.
11. Type a name for your signature. Example; the account/email address, 12.
Press tab and spacebar/enter on the okay button.
13. Now you are placed on the signature page. As you tab/navigate read
your choices for font.
14 When you arrive within the edit box here you can type in your signature,
then tab and press the okay button.
15. You're now given a screen of various choices. Tab through to decide
whether you wish to check or uncheck any of these boxes. Once you tab to
the okay button and press enter, you are placed back into the inbox and have
created you're signature.

Good morning Jaws Users list. First of all, I hope you get this message and
I receive it back. Thanks for helping me David. After yesterday's monthly
updates to W-10, I am noticing some strange behavior.

1. Using Outlook 2016, after pressing Control+N, for new message, Normally I
just type two letters and the email is filled in for me. Not now, it just
says the two letters, I must Tab one time to see the entire email address.
2. Using Internet explorer, After pressing ALT+A, you just used the arrow
keys to see your favorite websites, not any more, I just hear A, no matter
what I press, if I read a current line, it is sitting on Ad to favorites, my
wife said that she can see the favorites as I up and down arrow, but Jaws is
not changing and saying what site I am currently sitting on.

Is anyone else experiencing these strange issues in W-10 after yesterday's
updates? So the Jaws Users list did receive both of my lessons yesterday?
Did you find the Using iTunes 12 with Jaws 18 text file, useful in learning
iTunes? Thanks for any help with these issues. Smiles. Jim

I have an Excel spreadsheet with 17 sheets. I want to define column

but I can’t seem to get the others to work. I’m thinking I have to
define each sheet separately. Is that correct? I’m not sure what to

Also, the spreadsheet is currently in protected mode. Do I have to
turn off protected mode to make and save these changes for Jaws to
retain them?

Thanks for any help. I’m not a very good excel user. lol.

I know this comes up a lot, but now it’s my turn to ask. lol.

I have an Excel spreadsheet with 17 sheets. I want to define column title
reading for each sheet. I got it working for the first sheet, but I can’t
seem to get the others to work. I’m thinking I have to define each sheet
separately. Is that correct? I’m not sure what to turn off and what to turn
on to do this.

Also, the spreadsheet is currently in protected mode. Do I have to turn off
protected mode to make and save these changes for Jaws to retain them?

Thanks for any help. I’m not a very good excel user. lol.

[JAWS-Users] Issues after yesterday's updates to windows 10

2017-03-16 Thread Jim
Good morning Jaws Users list. First of all, I hope you get this message and
I receive it back. Thanks for helping me David. After yesterday's monthly
updates to W-10, I am noticing some strange behavior.

1. Using Outlook 2016, after pressing Control+N, for new message,
Normally I just type two letters and the email is filled in for me. Not now,
it just says the two letters, I must Tab one time to see the entire email
address.
2. Using Internet explorer, After pressing ALT+A, you just used the
arrow keys to see your favorite websites, not any more, I just hear A, no
matter what I press, if I read a current line, it is sitting on Ad to
favorites, my wife said that she can see the favorites as I up and down
arrow, but Jaws is not changing and saying what site I am currently sitting
on.

Smiles. Jim

Hello,
There is a trick to getting screen reader mode working. You can force Jarte
to switch to screen reader mode by copying the phrase "enable screen reader
mode" to the Windows clipboard before starting Jarte. This only needs to be
done one time. This should do what you need.

[JAWS-Users] welcome to new members

2017-03-16 Thread David Ferrin
I haven’t done this for a while, but then again it has been quite some time
since we got around 10 new members at once. Well that is what was in my inbox
this morning.

Never the less, welcome to all of you and just a note to all of you Gmail
users. Often times people have trouble receiving their own messages, but many
of you probably already know that fact. I point it out for those who might not
happen to be aware of it is all. There is a trick for that which is on the
server, thank you for being a part of this rather growing community. I have not
checked recently, but there should be over 670 of us on here at this time.

[JAWS-Users] Need help with Mail

2017-03-16 Thread Gail the U. S. Male
Hello, I'm using the Mail program in Windows 10, trying to figure out which
I want to be my long term e-mail client, mail, thunderbird, or outlook. How
do you go about reading the messages. I can see the list, which says left
pane, but if I hit enter on the message header, nothing seems to happen. Any
help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jarte;

2017-03-16 Thread Greg Wocher
Hello,
You can use any editor to copy the phrase to the clipboard. Once you do all you
have to do is open up Jart and screen reader mode should be enabled. If jart
was already open you will need to close it and reopen.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jarte;

2017-03-16 Thread David Whitehead
Hello Mike;
Well, I decided to install Jarte on my home computer,
What I did was,
First, copy the following to the clipboard,
"enable screen reader mode"
Next I installed the jarte program,
Once the installation was finished,
And I opened the program, it opened in screen reader mode, and I had access
to the menu's and such.
Hope this helps.
I had no idea about this "enable screen reader mode"

Statistics are like a bikini.  What they reveal is suggestive, but
what they conceal is vital.

Hi Greg,

What do you do after you 've copied,

"enable screen reader mode"

to the clipboard to get Jaws speaking inJart? Thanks much.
Take care.

Hello,
There is a trick to getting screen reader mode working. You can force Jarte
to switch to screen reader mode by copying the phrase "enable screen reader
mode" to the Windows clipboard before starting Jarte. This only needs to be
done one time. This should do what you need.

Greg Wocher

Hi Jaws users list, I had to go back to this email, yahoo would not let me
see my messages I sent into the Jaws users list. So I have no clue weather
you received the Control and ALT keys part two, or the Using iTunes 12 with
Jaws 18, text file. Could someone please let me know. Thank you.

That tosses to and fro,

And sail life's sea no more!
