Hi. I have to replace my hard drive. And I've managed to lose my Jaws auth
code. I do have the serial number. Do I just call FS for a new code? Or
since I backed up jaws to a thumbdrive will the auth code still be there and
I can just reinstall? Never had to replace a hard drive before. Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Further Jaws Version Confusion

2018-01-22 Thread Dave...Oregonian
2018.10 appears to be the latest regular release. 2018.54 is likely the
version you can get earlier than the next release, when you use the special
access code. Too much detail for me to go into. If you sit tight for another
few weeks, the next release of JAWS 2018 will probably be a higher number
than 2018.54 and you'll be caught up to all us mere mortals.

Dear List:

It was mentioned on the list in one of the many "jaws version confusion"
posts, that the latest jaws version is 2018.1712.54

When I did the control-insert-v from the jaws screen, it said my jaws was
already at the latest update. Yet, my version is a slightly different
number. It is 2018.1712.10.400

Would you please explain the difference. Thanks. Regards: Ted Larson

Hi Ted,

Officially, so to speak, you do have the latest update, but FS / VFO did
come out with a minor update to fix a couple issues, & will be an official
update when the next update comes out. This so called minor / unofficial,
so to speak, update does not appear on the released updates page, but on a
technical support page. Below is the explanation of the update & the
download links.

Technical Support - Detail
Short Description
JAWS® 2018 Reading Issues with Windows® 10 Universal Apps such as Windows
Mail and Sticky Notes

Problem

Reading issues have been reported when using JAWS 2018.1712.10 (released in
December 2017) with Windows 10 Universal apps. Here are some examples:

1. In Windows Mail, JAWS 2018 will not speak the body of an email while
navigating by character or word. And JAWS may read a previously opened
email
instead of the current one.
2. In Sticky Notes, JAWS 2018 repeats the character in focus and will not
speak the text while navigating by character or word.

Laura, I don't have Windows 10, but this may get you started. With Windows 7,
the Windows update icon goes into the system tray, which I access with JAWS

There's more, but I'm pretty sure it's different from here with Windows 10, so

Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows notifications & updates questions

2018-01-22 Thread Greg Wocher
Hello,
It sounds like your computer is trying to do an update and that is why you
won’t hear JAWS after you either restart or shut it down and then turn it on
again. Eventually JAWS will speak again but you have to give it a some time
before it does. To see those notifications dow a windows key plus A and you
will land in the notifications area where you can tab around to the different
notifications.

Hi, Kevin,

When you are at your inbox, for example, just shift-tab and then arrow
through your list of folders. In mine, my main folders are Inbox, but I
have created other folders, so to view the subfolders, arrow right.
