Re: [JAWS-Users] WordPerfect X5
Hello! I use Wordperfect x5 on a window 7 64-bit machine. I have the same problem you are describing. I found a way around it, and I hope it works for you. When I load Wordperfect and I can't get it to work, I simply close it with alt f4 and try again. It will usually start working on the third or fourth try. I am an old Wordperfect fan and am disappointed that x5 is a bit fluky, but if you can get it to work it is usable. But jaws normal works with menus and dialogue boxes or comboboxes etc. I tried to change some values of carret and cursor presentation in the jaws settings but no luck again. Does anybody have a same experience and is there a any medicine for this jaws behavior? Thanks in advance. Re: [JAWS-Users] Links don't open in outlook 2003
Hi David, I don't know for sure if the following will help. I say that because of the message you got when you used the JAWS cursor. But I used to find that in Outlook 20003 I had to do something strange to get the link to open. If the link started with http, I would put the pc cursor on the first t in the url and then press enter. The link would open as expected. Not sure if this is a solution for you, but I think it is worth a try. Re: [JAWS-Users] Spaces Hard Returns Missing from E-mails
Hi Annette, Occasionally I have this happening to me using JAWS 14 on a windows XP machine with outlook 2007. I usually don't end up writing an entire email before I notice it because I have a braille display, and I can see it happening. I have tried many things like closing outlook, then reloading JAWS, and just refreshing the screen. The only thing that works is rebooting the computer. The only reason I can think of that it happens to me is that at work I have to remote into various computers and end of using different versions of JAWS from 7 to 14. I have been thinking that maybe after awhile JAWS just gets really confused. However, rebooting is no fun when you are working and already remoted into 2 computers. If anyone else has any ideas, I know Annette and I would sure like to hear them. Sorry I can't be of more help. Re: [JAWS-Users] Spaces Hard Returns Missing from E-mails
Hmm! There goes that theory, although it always happens on my desktop also and not on a computer I have remoted to. You probably don't have to switch JAWS versions as much as I do either so there goes that theory. I don't know what it is, but it just seems as though when you type, the cursor is slow to to move. [JAWS-Users] JAWS 14 update and remote desktop
Hi All, Last Friday morning I installed the JAWS 14 update on my home window 7 64-bit machine with no problems. So without a thought I went to work and installed it on my office xp pro machine. It was a disaster, and the machine did not get back to workability until late yesterday afternoon. There were a lot of video intercept difficulties. But I am left with a problem and I wanted to see if anyone has any ideas about this. When I telework I use remote desktop to get to my office machine. Yesterday when I tried it, the screen would flash to the connection screen and then return to the screen with the IP address on it. When this happens there are no error messages, not even a quick on for the eyes of sighted people to see. Any suggestions? Thanks! Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows 7 login glitch
Hi Michelle, the part of the Win7 sign-on you can't change is the fact that you hear JAWS start up twice. Win7 has a modular design, so there is a module for starting up and a module for the rest of the operating system. I am probably not explaining this correctly, but it is how I understand it. Now for your log-on page problem. I am not sure what is going on, but 1. Have you tried tabbing around to see if you can get to the password field? 2. Maybe the screen isn't maximized, so you might give that a try, or 3. Have you tried alt-tab to see if you can focus on the log-on screen. With that in mind, what does JAWSKeY-t have to say. I have 2 windows 7 machines, and so far haven't had this problem, so this is all I can think of. Jaws will announce itself ready for action after the windows music sounds, but won't always focus properly on the password field of the login screen. Sometimes it will simply say logon dialog without allowing me to type anything into it. Other times it will go straight there and all will work perfectly. What strikes me is odd is that Jaws will then announce itself as ready a second time once I have managed to log in successfully. Is there a setting I should know about to eliminate this issue? Hi Andy, I had this problem the other day in outlook 2010 on a win 7 machine. It turned out that there was a window that wanted me to sign into outlook. Once I realized it was there and did what it wanted, I was able to get to the whole ribbon. So maybe something has popped on the screen and covered part of the menus. Also, is the screen maximized?
