Hello,
For me, with the latest update, JAWS will not read whether or not
messages are unread. I don't think it is reading the status's of
messages at all.

Yes I have the same condition in my WLM. I'm guessing its because I
had to

manually label the graphics to read unread before this latest fix.

I notice the change made in wlm about unread in both speech and braille.

I hear unread twice for most of the time now, anyone else noticed this?

Hi All,

In addition to the full links below, here is the list of
changes/enhancements in the December update.

Regards,
Eric

Enhancements in JAWS 13.0.638 (December 2011)

The following is a list of items addressed or added between the final
JAWS 13.0.527 release and the JAWS 13.0.638 posting.

JAWS
*Resolved issues with the Research It sports scores lookup sources
where the expected results were not being returned whether you entered a
specific date or not.
*Addressed an issue with the Wiktionary lookup source not returning a
definition if searching for a word containing uppercase letters.
*Resolved an issue with the Time Search lookup source for Research It
only returning the list of time formats you can use, however no actual
results for your search were returned.
*Updated the JAWS Help system to make it easier for users to locate
firewall and ILM multi-user network authorization information. These
topics can be found under Network JAWS and in the Index.
*JAWS no longer says selected when using SHIFT+LEFT ARROW or
SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW in ribbons to move between groups.
*When performing a Say All using a setting other than the default Line
without pauses, addressed an issue where JAWS would read the last line,
sentence, or paragraph continuously until CTRL was pressed to silence
speech.
*JAWS is now less verbose when announcing the start or end of ARIA
regions on Web pages.
*When using Convenient OCR, the resulting text now remains available if
you switch between the JAWS and Invisible Cursor. The text is removed
when you activate the PC Cursor.
*Addressed an issue where JAWS was not properly speaking the Username
edit field on the Talking Communities Webinar client login screen.
*Resolved a customer reported issue where JAWS would speak part of the
word just typed when pressing BACKSPACE and Typing Echo is set to
Characters and Words.

Adobe Acrobat
*Resolved an intermittent issue where JAWS would unexpectedly close
when doing a JAWS Find in a PDF document.

Eclipse
*Resolved issues using JAWS with the Rational Team Concert plug-in.

Eudora
*Addressed an issue of JAWS speaking extraneous information when
pressing CTRL+D to delete a message.

Lotus Notes
*Resolved a reported issue where SameTime conversations were not
refreshing.

Microsoft Excel
*Addressed several instances where braille was not tracking properly in
Line Mode.
*Monitor cell information is now shown in braille as a flash message.
*Resolved an issue where JAWS was not properly reading the controls in
the Format Chart Area dialog box.
*Resolved an issue where the Total column option in Quick Settings was
not remaining on the same setting with a braille display connected.
*After pressing EQUALS on a cell to begin a formula and then selecting
a range of cells, resolved an issue where JAWS would not properly
announce the selection.
*Addressed issues of controls in the Sort dialog box not reading
correctly.
*Resolved double speaking issues encountered when entering data into a
cell.

Microsoft Internet Explorer
*When on the last line of a multi-line edit field and Forms Mode is not
active, resolved an issue where pressing the END key would jump to the
beginning of the field instead of the end of the line as expected.
*Pressing INSERT+SHIFT+V no longer opens the Personalized Web Settings
dialog box. You can configure personalized Web settings using Quick
Settings (INSERT+V).
*Resolved an issue where alt text in links was not being spoken when
the Text Links Show option in Quick Settings was set to Title.
*After using SHIFT+ENTER to open a link in a new window, when you close
the window, focus now returns to the link you opened. Previously, JAWS
would place you back at the top of the page.
*Resolved an issue with the Page Refresh option in Quick Settings.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Selecting an entire worksheet in Excel2010

2011-12-03 Thread Icewolf

Hello,
I am having problems getting it to work in JAWS13. This is what I have
found. If your worksheets have all been named something else besides
sheet 1 etc... insert plus shift plus s brings up the system menu, just
as if you pressed alt plus space. However if you have at least one
sheet with the default name, sheet 1, the insert plus shift plus s works
as expected. As an example, I have a workbook I created with three
sheets. the sheets are named binomial, geometric, and poisson. If I
hit the insert plus shift plus s it just brings up the system menu.
However, if I add a sheet to it and then use the command, it works just
fine. I am using JAWS13 and Excel 2010.

Thanks,
Greg W.

I have not installed JAWS 13, so I did not know that it was
not available.
I am using JAWS 12 and have found that command very helpful.
I will not be
happy if it is no longer available.

Hello,
Now this is weird. If a workbook only has one sheet, the insert plus

multiple sheets, that command brings up the menu with the different

Dear Marilyn,
I apologize, apparently it was removed from the JFWLite site, I could
no longer find it either, under Programs.

I can send a copy up to Sendspace if you wish to download it from
there.

It is only about 2 MB.
But it will not go through my ISP, A T and T, as an attachment, even
if the executable file is in a folder and zipped.
By the way for anyone's interest, this is Freeware, and I have told
this to the list Owner our very cordial and generous benefactor Mr.
David Ferren.

[JAWS-Users] Question about something called Squeak

2011-09-09 Thread Icewolf

Hello all,
For my class at school we need to install a program called squeak.
It is some kind of programming language. Has anyone ever heard of
this? If so is it in any way accessible with JAWS12?

Thanks,
Greg W.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question about virtual software

2011-08-31 Thread Icewolf

Hello,
I tried to subscribe to the group but I got a reply saying that the
group does not exist. Is this group gone or is the subscribe address
wrong? I got VMware installed but I have encountered some problems
Iwould like to ask about on that list so I don't clutter this one.

Thanks,
Greg W.

The VMware Player is free and there is a more advanced program BMware
Workstation wich has to be purchased. The last time I checked it was
arount $190. It adds features like taking snapshots and movies to make
it easier to restore previous states of the guest Operating System.
Since the guest Operating System is contained in files, making a copy
of the entire directory of the Virtual Machine provides an easy
backup, acting much like a snapshot.

There are JAWS scripts that were written by Chris Hallsworth and
myself. We started them for Player 2.5, which had many accessibility
issues. Player 3.x really does not require any scripts. The Player now
also allows you to create Virtual Machines just like Workstation. In
my view, the Player free product meets most users needs. Advanced
users might want to consider the added features of Workstation.

The scripts for Player and Workstation are bundled together and
located at:

Re: [JAWS-Users] Excel and new jaws

2011-08-19 Thread Icewolf

ello,
I am also having problems with JAWS not reading cells in Excel. I
closed out JAWS and opened up the run prompt. Ithen typed in jaws12
/default and when Iopened up excel it was working fine. How might I fix
this problem with the user settings?

Thanks,
Greg W.

When I had this problem, FS Tech Support had me run JAWS in default
mode to see if anything in the User Settings folder was the problem.
To check this, stop JAWS by pressing Alt + F4. Then hit Windows + r,
to open the Run dialog, and type jaws12 /default, without the quotes.

If this fixes your problem, chances are you added a personalized
setting for this spreadsheet. Renaming the PersonalizedSettings
folder, should solve the problem. Go to Start menu All Programs
JAWS 12 Explore JAWS Explore My Settings, select the
PersonalizedSettings folder, press F2, and modify the name.

This problem has already been listed, but I didn't save those

Excel data correctly? Currently JAWS 12 reads none of the cells. I
am running Windows XP and Excel 2002.

Thanks in advance.

Re: [JAWS-Users] latest version of jaws 12 with Excel 2007

2011-08-15 Thread Icewolf

Hello,
I was wondering if it was just me. I cant even get JAWS to read any
cells whatsoever in Excel 2007. The only way Ican read anything when I
open up a spreadsheet is to use the JAWS cursor.
