[JAWS-Users] why not copy files
There was a question asked about why I just did not copy the files. I have only one cable readily available. I did not want to use my grandson’s computer since he now just has zoom text installed. To get at his cable you have to pull out his computer desk and reach behind to try and find the cable where it plugs in. If I would have access to the cable that would have been my first try. Hind sight being 20/20 I should have pulled out his desk. --- Please visit my web page It’s motivational, inspirational with a touch of humor There is also a very extensive resource list for the blind http://www.LennyMcHugh.com International Brotherhood of Magicians member #43990 For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] convert/format interesting
Well I again tried the convert on my win 7 machine. At the top it stated that it is fat32 and will be fat32 Using the format with f: /q /fs:ntfs at the top of the screen it reads fat32 the next line states that it will be ntfs It then asked for a new name. I assume that I have to let it run most of the night to complete. [JAWS-Users] my conversion idea failed
I had the idea to make an image for windows backup of my grandson’s ex drive. Then restore it to my drive before reformatting his. After a 9 hour backup and a 4 hour restore things became worse. The restore converted my ntfs drive to a fat32. I made the guess that it just would rewrite the data. On my 7 machine what is the best way to format my drive back to ntfs? I did go to run and typed format f: /fs:ntfs It asked for a new label and nothing since. After a few hours the fat32 information is still there. I wonder if I should have use the q switch --- Please visit my web page It’s motivational, inspirational with a touch of humor There is also a very extensive resource list for the blind http://www.LennyMcHugh.com International Brotherhood of Magicians member #43990 For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Zip the file and place it in the Dropbox folder. 2. Highlight the file, open the context menu using the applications key or Shift + F10, arrow down to, Copy Dropbox Link, and press enter. This will paste a Dropbox link to your clipboard. 3. Create a new email to whomever you're sending the file to, and paste the Dropbox download link into the message body of the email, but you're not through just yet! We want to change the Dropbox download link by changing 1 character. Below is an example of what we're going to do. In the link below there's a, 0, at the end. https://www.dropbox.com/s/94btj8w58bxdzx0/Windows%2010%20Current%20Version.txt?dl=0 What you want to do is change this, 0, to a, 1, like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/94btj8w58bxdzx0/Windows%2010%20Current%20Version.txt?dl=1 Now when someone clicks on the download link they can choose to Run or Save it by using their right arrow key to select the option and pressing enter on the selected option. This way they don't have to download from the Dropbox website and just download as they normally would. Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers. Sent from my iBarstool. [JAWS-Users] ssl and google chrome
Well, my informational only web page is now costing me another $120 for 2 years. I renewed my domain name and moved it to godaddy’s faster server which is also a little more secure. I had a problem with the migration and called for help. The young lady was fantastic in the help then gave me the bad news about google chrome. Shortly they will require ssl verification for every web page and if you do not have it the individuals trying to access will get a security warning. She only told me about it now before they get hammered with phone calls about the security errors.

[JAWS-Users] computer up and running
It has been a few interesting days with Microsoft support. I must have over 8 phone hours with them. They first tried to correct the network driver issue. After several calls and attempts it was determined that windows had corrupted files. They downloaded iso files for both 32 and 64 bit. They wanted to try and save my programs and files but if that did not work I could do a clean install of the 64 bit os. It took several hours for the windows repair to run. At that time I lost the jaws mirror driver. And I could not run the install of 2018 to correct the problem. A call to FS and a follow up call to Microsoft I still could not run the 2018 repair. Here there were about 175 critical updates that needed to be installed. After these were installed I still could not repair jaws so another call to Microsoft. She could not run it so escalated the problem. Later that night I tried to update I.E. from 8 to 11 and could not run the update. The following morning I placed another call to have them add I.E. to the list. This tech asked me to check for updates. Now there were about 20 updates that were not there the night before. I installed them then he linked into my machine. He uninstalled 2018 and then was able to do a clean install. He also had no problem installing I.E. 11. Not only is the system correctly reporting the network status, my one usb port now works and windows explorer is working correctly again. I did require a lot of sighted help. Without the mirror driver jaws could not read the list of updates. It was recommended not to install more than 100 meg at a time and start from the bottom, oldest first. So after 3 days and a lot of frustration from my first call my computer is running like a new machine. I can’t believe how fast it now comes up and launches I.E.

I had to download the newest version. No matter what I tried I could not get it to work. Probably tomorrow reluctantly I will call Microsoft. The problem has been getting worse or as I like to say worser! If I go down a list of my documents or a list of files in a folder or drive I quite often get a message that my documents or drive letter is not responding. I had this quite a few years ago and combofix was the only thing that I could use to correct the problem. I first learned about combofix about 10 years ago. Something got into my computer and I.E. kept taking me to a porn site. I had the eset folks trying to remove whatever caused the problem. Finally he gave me the download link for combofix and it correct I.E. That has since been my go to tool for problems that virus and malware scans could not correct. It finally got to me when I could not totally read my document list. I need one and can not remember what it was named. Gee, give me back my old Burroughs 6700 or IBM 3090 main frame systems.

There is no short cut. The file was a download dot exe. Properties has nothing to run as administrator. I can do this by the applications key but it still does not see me as an administrator. [JAWS-Users] mirror driver problem
I was having a problem where jaws kept telling me that the windows mirror driver was not installed. I tried to repair, modify and reinstalling jaws. Finally I contacted support. She spent about an hour trying different things then wanted me to make sure that I had the most recent driver. This did not correct the problem. I called back and got a different tech. He tried a few things then paused my antivirus software and did a repair. this fixed the problem. I have been using eset for several years with no problem. It happens to me often. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the drive. There is a work around, and you only have to unplug it from the computer and plug it back in. If you choose, simply unplug the electric plug from the back. This will shut down the drive and force it to reboot. The drive will reappear in a few minutes. To date, I can't find a reason it does this. Granted, I have not approached Seagate for a solution, but then again, if they were to tell me the drive was broken, I would give them heck and tell them where they could put their software. However, with that drive, there was some kind of physical problem/malfunction of the heads, and not a corrupt partition. I think you should definitely look for some other software that can help you, if that's all the problem is. I can't advise as I don't really know anything about this kind of software, but there has got to be something out there that will work on the drive, if it's at all possible to recover your data without disassembling the unit.
