[JAWS-Users] voice adjustment options in jaws 15

Hi list, after using jaws 15 baiter for a couple of days. I have noticed
there is no longer the option to change the say all speech synthesiser in
the voice adjust options dialogue. Has this feature been moved somewhere
else, or has it been removed altogether?

Thanks in advance.

[JAWS-Users] Query reading the status info in Outlook 2010

2012-11-03 Thread Stuart Lawler
Hi All,

I have Outlook 2010 running with Jaws 14, on Windows 8. On my previous
installation, on Windows 7, when I pressed insert and numpad three, JFW would
read the number of items in the folder, and the number of unread messages, if
any.

I know at the time I tweaked something in outlook to make Jaws see this status
info, but I can't seem to remember what that was now. At present, when I press
insert and numpad three there is silence. Has anyone got the quick fix to
re-enable the reading of status info?

Many thanks,

Stuart Lawler

This has happened more than once. Has anyone else had this issue? Jaws
crashes while I'm serfing the web, and I have to hold the power button on my
laptop to shut it off and back on again. It's very annoying. I wonder why
this happens?

Enhancements in JAWS 13.0.638 (December 2011)

The following is a list of items addressed or added between the final JAWS
13.0.527 release and the JAWS 13.0.638 posting.

JAWS
*Resolved issues with the Research It sports scores lookup sources where
the expected results were not being returned whether you entered a specific
date or not.
*Addressed an issue with the Wiktionary lookup source not returning a
definition if searching for a word containing uppercase letters.
*Resolved an issue with the Time Search lookup source for Research It only
returning the list of time formats you can use, however no actual results
for your search were returned.
*Updated the JAWS Help system to make it easier for users to locate
firewall and ILM multi-user network authorization information. These topics
can be found under Network JAWS and in the Index.
*JAWS no longer says selected when using SHIFT+LEFT ARROW or
SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW in ribbons to move between groups.
*When performing a Say All using a setting other than the default Line
without pauses, addressed an issue where JAWS would read the last line,
sentence, or paragraph continuously until CTRL was pressed to silence
speech.
*JAWS is now less verbose when announcing the start or end of ARIA regions
on Web pages.
*When using Convenient OCR, the resulting text now remains available if you
switch between the JAWS and Invisible Cursor. The text is removed when you
activate the PC Cursor.
*Addressed an issue where JAWS was not properly speaking the Username edit
field on the Talking Communities Webinar client login screen.
*Resolved a customer reported issue where JAWS would speak part of the word

refreshing.

Microsoft Excel
*Addressed several instances where braille was not tracking properly in
Line Mode.
*Monitor cell information is now shown in braille as a flash message.

Format Chart Area dialog box.
*Resolved an issue where the Total column option in Quick Settings was not
remaining on the same setting with a braille display connected.
*After pressing EQUALS on a cell to begin a formula and then selecting a
range of cells, resolved an issue where JAWS would not properly announce the
selection.
*Addressed issues of controls in the Sort dialog box not reading correctly.
*Resolved double speaking issues encountered when entering data into a
cell.

Microsoft Internet Explorer
*When on the last line of a multi-line edit field and Forms Mode is not
active, resolved an issue where pressing the END key would jump to the
beginning of the field instead of the end of the line as expected.
*Pressing INSERT+SHIFT+V no longer opens the Personalized Web Settings
dialog box. You can configure personalized Web settings using Quick Settings
(INSERT+V).
*Resolved an issue where alt text in links was not being spoken when the
Text Links Show option in Quick Settings was set to Title.
*After using SHIFT+ENTER to open a link in a new window, when you close the

Hi Kimsan,

I use CTRL+ALT+J for Jaws12, CTRL+ALT+X for Jaws11, CTRL+ALT+0 for
Jaws10 and CTRL+ALT+9 for Jaws9.

When I install Jaws13, I will make CTRL+ALT+J for that version and change
CTRL+ALT+X for Jaws12.

Speaking of the four version on my desktop XP computer, is there any reason
for keeping Jaws9 and Jaws10 anymore?

I do have Jaws11 and Jaws12 on my windows7 64 bits laptop where I will
remove Jaws 11 when I install Jaws 13.

I have not use Jaws 9 and Jaws10 since I started using Jaws11.

I am open for any suggestions what to do with my old versions. Is it worth
keeping them?

Many thanks in advance.

I have not created any DAISY books, but I have looked into what is
available. Have you looked at the solutions promoted at the daisy.org site?
They have a pipeline Open Source project for more advanced creation. They
also have links to other solutions. One is a plugin for Word. It is not a
typical Windows type installation. You will need to follow the directions
and copy files to the proper location. The next time you open Word, a
detailed set of instructions will appear as a document on the use of the
plugin. It creates new menus for DAISY creation. Since it is all done in
Word, it will be familiar and accessible.

IMO, it's a much better idea to keep your drivers current - within reason -
rather than back-up / restore old or corrupt device drivers.
In my experience, corrupt or old drivers are the biggest single issue people
have with computers.

I also have Vinux available in a dual boot configuration. The sound driver

Its reading the first line twice in every messsage in Windows Live Mail
as well which it never used to.
 Hello all.
Before possibly reporting this to Freedom Scientific through their bug
report form, I am noticing inconsistent behaviour when reading
messages in Thunderbird. For example JAWS will read part of the body
of the message twice, with the second time reading in its entirity.
whereas other times it reads the message fine. This did not happen
 with the first public beta.

Do you have Firefox? That's what you must have for WebVisum. If you do
have Firefox, I will generate an invitation code for you and send it to you
by email. Firefox is at several sites, among them
www.mozillafirefox.org/

However, whether you do or don't have Firefox, thin the last month -
probably after the podcast was put out - there has sprung up a new service,
where it doesn't matter what browser or operating system your using.

Go to www.solona.net/

and you can then go to its Twitter Blog there and read it, if you like. On
www.solona.net You can also go to the learn link, and also the how it
works link. there are also the instructions which are now on the page when

you have logged in. You just register with the site, nothing special,
ensuring that you are not a spam bot. All of this is explained in the
instructions, which may seem more complex in the reading than in the doing.
You get used to operating it.

These scripts are hard coded for a technical reason so you can't really
change them via the Keyboard Manager.

1

I have jaws set to automatically read my messages when I open them but very
often Jaws will not read the full contents of the body of the message

2

I have my messages arranged in order of subject but if I delete a group of
collapsed messages jaws will not automatically speak the next item in the
list. I don't know if this is the correct behaviour for Jaws but it is very
annoying.

I would appreciate any feed back on this

I have in line auto complete turned on but I have noticed in Jaws 9 as I

automatically read the change in the text. But in Jaws 8 the text was read
as it was changing. I would appreciate some feed back on this as I don’t
have another system to try it on so I don’t know if it’s just the behavior
of Jaws 9 or my system
