Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Live Mail Repair

2018-07-17 Thread Teresa Arroyo Llosa

Hello Jery,

I am using Windows 8.1, but I should think the steps to repair Windows live
mail is similar.

Go to programs and features and arrow down, or use first letter navigation,
to windows esentials. Go to the context menue and you should find something
like uninstall/change, press enter. You will find buttons using tab, and
there will be one that says repair.

I hope this helps.

Using JAWS 2018, Windows 10 and Windows Live Mail, Is there a way to do a
repair on it? I went into control panel, but could not find it in the
programs folder. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] cleaning software

2018-06-26 Thread Teresa Arroyo Llosa
Hello all,

Using windows 8.1-64 and Jaws 2018.

Some time ago, some one recommended a program that cleans up the remains of
uninstalled programs. Would they tell me the name and how to use it?
I am thinking of uninstalling adobe digital editions (following sugestions from
the adobe forum) and install it back again in order to see if I can open the
book I want to read. I don’t dare to mess up with registries.

Thank you in advance.

[JAWS-Users] how can I install adobe digital editions 4.5.4

2018-06-23 Thread Teresa Arroyo Llosa
Hello all,

Using Jaws 2018 and windows 8.1-64.

I tried opening a PDF book using digital editions, but the program doesn’t seem
to work. Accoring to a sighted person, the screen is blank, though I can read
adobe digital editions. I tried instaling and uninstalling to no avail.
The program installed is the adobe digital editions 4.5.8. I found that when I
try to open the book with the ‘open with option’, in the context menu, it says
open with adobe digital editions f.5.4, but, as I said, the version installed
is 4.5.8. Is this last version not accessible with Jaws? Where could I find the
4.5.4 version?

I also found that if I try to open the book with acrobat reader DC, the program
doesn’t respond. I can’t seem to restore my computer to a fiew weeks ago, for
the only created restore point is today.

I would really appreciate if some one could take me out of this marsh sand.

Best regards,

Teresa Arroyo Llosa

Teresa,

JAWS 2018 is the latest, as Mr. Ed already replied. Your understandable
confusion comes about because VFO changed the way versions are numbered.
Until the year 2016, each version had a one- or two-digit number. the last
in this series was JAWS 18. This past year, in the closing months of 2017,
VFO decided against calling the new version 19, and instead assigned it the
name of the upcoming year, 2018. From now on, I assume this will be the
pattern, with version 2019 coming out next fall.

Teresa, no, Eric is saying that VFO will work with the F11 key to help
making it easier to find the print screen option. One way you can find it
now is to press JAWS key+1 on the number row above the letters to invoke
JAWS' key identifier mode. Then look for the three keys that normally reside
together at the top right of the keyboard. On my keyboard, the one on the
left is the printscreen key, and JAWS will verbalize its name for you. to
get out of key identifier mode, press JAWS key+1 again.

[JAWS-Users] Dreamweaver CS6 and Jaws16

2017-05-17 Thread Teresa Arroyo Llosa
Hello all,

I am following a course on Dreamweaver CS6 and I am finding thathe program
isn’t very accessible with Jaws. For example, I am doing an excersice where I
need to do a bulleted list. For this, I must go to propeties and press the html
button, yet I can’t acces such pane (Dreamweaver has a pane with buttons that I
can’t access). I can’t even navigate panes with F6.

Now, there is a layout tab in the ribbons where lists is presented as a menu.
In that menu there is a ‘properties...’, but is is in gray (unavailable), and
next is a ‘none checked’ (I can’t uncheck it).

Does any one know how to work it around? Are there any jaws scripts to make
Dreamweaver CS6 more accessible with Jaws?

Thank you in advance.

In your original message that started this thread, you wrote: "My print

In that case, you know where your print screen key is but not where your

Hi,
Press the windows key and on the edit box type paint can enter.
I'm not sure on either the tab key or the up and down arrow follow the
prompts, when you enter the paint can, there is going to be an untitle doc,
press enter to open it You have to save it and rename it, and attached it to
an email, by copy, cut & paste.
The last time I tried it didn't worked, because it had links in it.

Maybe you can make this work if needed in an emergency, Screen Shot in the
iPhone:
you press the home button and the Power button together at the same time
down , until you hear the snap of the camera and release quickly, The
picture of that screen shot went to your camera roll. Then you opened that
picture in your camera roll, there is an option to "share" that picture
(which is the screen shot, there is option to assign the photo to wall
paper, send the photo in a message, etc.

Good evening Jaws users group. I have been working today, on the next lesson
for the W-10 and Jaws group called, The Control and ALT keys, your best
friend. I learned a new keystroke myself today. If you are like me, there
may be times where you have six or more windows opened at the same time on
your computer. If you press, Ctrl + Alt + Tab, and then use the right and
left Arrow keys to see all the open windows on your computer, press Enter on
the window you want to have focus, you will land in that window. This is
fantastic, of course, you can ALT+Tab to the window you want as well. I like
learning new keystrokes for different situations. I am not sure if this will
work on prior versions of Windows, let me know. Happy learning! Smiles. Jim

I've had a bit of a play with Dream Weaver.

If you are starting with a good knowledge of the structure of HTML and
CSS code, it's kind of doable, but it you're starting from scratch, it
might be a bit of a challenge.
If it's just HTML and CSS code you are writing, a good text editor would
be easier.

To my knowledge, Adobe Acrobat 2011 and up is completely accessible unless
something has changed that I am not aware of.

The size of the file has nothing to do with it's accessibility, though this
can be changed in the accessibility options, and only in terms of pages to
display and how large a document is before Adobe Acrobat treats it as a
large document, and even then, the displayed pages are one page per screen.

Has something changed?

[JAWS-Users] making new addressbook in word 2013 with jaws

2016-12-05 Thread Teresa Arroyo Llosa
Hello<

Using windows 8.1, jaws 16 and ofice 2013.

I am trying to enter name, last name, etc. in creating new addressbook under
the correspondence or letter tab (my word is in Spanish, so I don’t know how
these buttons and tabs are translated). When I enter creating new addressbook I
get a rich edit control, but I am not able to see the fields name (for example
name). If I arow up or down, there is a list view, but it only says 1 of 1;
there is no way to select anything. If I press insert F5 to make a list of
fields it says that there is a jaws dialog open already.

I also tried sutumising the listview so that it would speak column header or
text. It reads the whole list, without leting me select the field. So don’t
know where each field is. Can please sombody help me?

Thanks in advance.

[JAWS-Users] Slecting two or more placeholders in powerpoint 2013

2016-11-25 Thread Teresa Arroyo Llosa
Hello Guys:

Using windows 8.1, Jaws 16 and PowerPoint 2013.

As the subject says I wonder if there is a way to select two or more
boxes/placeholders in PoerPoint, in order to apply modifications (color,
letter, etc.) I tried using F5, but couldn’t get to the ribbons.

I also would like to know if there is a way that Jaws would verbalize slide
efects, like reflexion, ilumination, shades, etc.

I am doing an online urse in this software, and others, and am having some
trouble in this issues. According to the course tutor the way to select two or
more placeholders would be pressing control key with the left button of the
mouse; this is the sighted way. How is this done with Jaws?

Thank you in advance.

I am a bit concerned over the significant drop in list traffic over the past
several weeks. Granted Microsoft has blocked out this domain and earlier
this year road runner did the same thing. Also in the past com cast and
others have done the same.

It might be possible that the list has run its’ course. It is 11 years old
this week as a matter of fact which I find hard to believe myself.

Let’s see how things go for a while before any major decisions are made so
don’t anybody panic at this point. I am just expressing my concern about the
way things have dropped off so much. It had to happen sooner or later. The
fact is I have no idea how long the average email list stays in business, I
suppose that would be an interesting study.

Now to sit back and see what kind of response this message generates.

Dwight, in using the task manager, the program can be ended but only for
one time. Task Manager is only used when a particular program is being
stubborn in closing in the normal way with alt+f4, alt+spacebar then c,
clicking the close icon in the upper right corner (if the program has
such an icon), or the program's exit, quit or close command. but to
prevent a program from starting when Windows starts, most programs have
a setting in it's options, preferences, etc. that stops the program from
starting up

if Mike's steps give you a hassle, take a look around using my suggestion.

I'm using Win 7, JAWS 17 but your process should not be too different.

Hit the Windows key for the start menu and arrow down to all programs
sub menu. Arrow right then type the letter j to see if you have java on
your computer. If so, you'll see the name java with a sub menu. rRight
arrow again and hit check for updates to see if your java is up to
date. If you don't have java go to java.com and download it. So far as
I know the java program intereferes with nothing on my computer.

Then see if jaws will pronounce your virtual keyboard letters, which
will appear as one letter links. The process for writing on this
virtual keyboard is um dor do saco but I've been able do use it to log in.

On the other hand, it may be more direct for you to contact your bank or
visit the site. If you visit the site, do a control F for accessibility
or for screen reader. A lot of banks have accessibility protocols
including a simpler site, like Citibank for example.

On a personal note I hope you are well in Venezuela. The articles I
read portrays a country in crisis.

I guess Brazil is no cake walk either but at least it's on a gradual
path of improvement following some unfortunate political and economic
mismanagement by a government which had been in power too long. Too
bad, too, as Lula da Silva did some solid things for the working class
but his government was caught in several corruption scams, the biggest
one being lava jata, or the Petro Bras money skimming venture.

[JAWS-Users] Introducing password with virtual keyboard

2016-09-04 Thread Teresa Arroyo Llosa
Hello,

I have Windows 8.1-64 and latest Jaws 16.

Can someone please tell me if it is possible introducing passwords with a
virtual keyboard using Jaws; if so, how does it work.

In some banks and other business you have to use a virtual keyboard that
appears when introducing a password, in order to do things in their website.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Kinsam,
Thanks for the link, but I get a message that says something like the
windows update installer alone is not applicable for this computer.

Sorry for repplying a bit late, we don't have internet and I am writing out
of home.

Thank you so much, I have win10, so I will try to figure this out. I will
take the instructions given for Windows 8.1 and see if I can find these same
settings for win10.

I do the same thing, write it in word and then paste it. Try speckie though
and report your findings.

Kind of. It said that the spell-checker is built into Win7, which is what I
found out when I tried to open the .exe file.

Incidentally, what I do when spelling really matters on a form in IE is
write the text in Word, spell-check it there, then copy and paste into the
online edit field.

Didn't it briefly mention what to do if you use windows 7 which I presume
you use?

And, correction, slightly embarroussed as I confused misspelled announcement
with word from IE. I thought one could do configure that setting in ie which
I couldn't find, but speckie does work. I just need to figure out how I can
have jaws echo the misspelled word to spell check seeing as I can't see red
squiggly lines.

So, don't write long facebook posts and spell check it afterward.

Thanks for doing the legwork, Kimsan. Those instructions are for Windows 8
and 8.1. I have 7, so I need to look further into it, unless your later
spell-checker idea works out.

When I googled it, this is what I found.

I'll do more research, as I've been looking for one, as well. I thought what
I sent previously would help someone. If I find something else, I'll report.

Kimsan, thanks for this. However, after I downloaded the program, MS
notified me that it's already installed on my system. It begs the question
how do I make it work? I mean, it's nice to have, but I didn't download it
for decorative purposes. If you don't have an answer at hand, I'll go
hunting with Google.

Hi,
Well, welcome to the club. I have exactly the same issue that you do. I have
Firefox able to spell check, but with IE, I cannot figure out anything to
get that browser to spell check. I do not think that you can have IE spell
check, but let us see if someone can give us the Miracle lOL!
I would absolutely love it if I could spell check in IE, because that is the
browser that I use for Facebook, and many times, I cannot spell a work in
Facebook.
Take care,
David Moore

[JAWS-Users] Spell check for IE 11

2016-07-22 Thread Teresa Arroyo Llosa
Hello all:

Using windows 8.1-64, latest Jaws16 and IE11.

Could someone please tell me if there is a Spellcheck for IE11? I tired looking
in the internet, but there seems to no be one.

Someone asked about this in the microsoft community, and someone answered them
to check in control panel misspelled and another option regarding the suabject.
Mine are checked, but it doesn’t check my spelling. Could it be that Jaws
doen’t detect mistakes in this case?

I managed to find spell checks in English and Spanish for FireFox, but not for
IE11.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Teresa Arroyo Llosa

Re: [JAWS-Users] saving pictures with jaws

2016-07-22 Thread Teresa Arroyo Llosa

Hello Tom,

If you are using windows live mail do the following,

1. Having the message oppend, where the file is attached, back tab once o
twice until you hear the file's name, probably img with numbers or file name
if the picture has been name.
2. Once on the name, open the context menue by the application key or shift
F10, probably you find find your self in the message tab. Left or right
arrow to the option menu.

3. In the option menu, arrow down to safe sub-menu and press enter.
4. You will find two options, save as file or save as attachment. Press
enter on save as attachment.
5. From there brwose to where you want to save the file and press enter. You
don't need to open the attached file to be able to save it.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,
