I would opt to change the default file settings in windows. I have had
experiences when I have checked the checkbox and have said yes to Adobe to
being the default pdf program within Adobe and the next time I opened a pdf
file it opened in edge. I have never had that happen on a machine where I
just went into the default file settings and changed the default application
to open the particular file type.

HI Judy.

Ah, no. qRead is for reading exclusively and you cannot edit pdf files using
this programme.

If the files are text and not images that you need to OCR, your best bet is
to use Adobe Acrobat or Reader, I think. PDF forms do, I think, need some
kind of adjustment from the developer of these forms in order to be
accessible. I'm not too clear on what that is. I do know that most of the
forms at my old work and also government-type forms work ok. I haven't had a
lot of experience with this, honestly.

As for file associations and such
In Windows 10, use the search box and type "default". Or, you can find it
inside "system settings". Here you can choose what programme opens each type
of file that your OS recognises. Or most of them, at least.

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro on this computer, so I don't know if it's quite the
same -- but I saw this in Reader as well. There is a checkbox in preferences
-- in mine it is under "internet" in the tree view. The box is labeled "open
PDF in browser" or something like that. I would uncheck this box, if it's
checked.

I can also try to print with Freedom Import Printer, and could have a

Also, remind me where I would go to find the file associations I need to

Do you have Adobe reader? There is an option there to set which prevents pdf
files from opening in a browser. Last I checked, even though Windows
"prefers" if you set all associations within itself, this still plays nicely
with Windows 10. Also go to your default file associations and check to see
what you have said for .pdf files.

I personally use a programme called qRead to open text pdf files most of the
time, now. It's really fast and doesn't take an age to deal with long
documents that I just want to read.

Yeah, Windows 10 wants you to set all these things yourself it seems. It
doesn't always work properly when programmes (like Winamp for instance) try
to do it for you.

You should still uncheck the box in Adobe though, I think.
