Re: [JAWS-Users] Firefox and Jaws
Wayne, you've encountered the reason why many of us use both IE and Firefox. Some would add Google Chrome to that browser list. IE works fine on some websites where Firefox is hopeless, and vice-versa. Frustrating, but at least the existence of alternatives makes for a workaround in most situations. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of wayne smith Sent: Friday, September 09, 2016 3:40 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Firefox and Jaws Hello to all- I have downloaded Firefox via Ninyt to use with my Windows 7 machine. Re: [JAWS-Users] FireFox and JAWS
Just my views on FireFox and Jaws 8. Although FireFox performs faster than IE I have had to regretfully move back to IE. This is because I found FireFox did not work well with the Insert F5 form field listing with Jaws 8. On some sites the navigation to form fields is unpredictable. My bank password logon for example. This happens in IE as well but when this happens I sort this out by repeatedly hitting Insert F5 and selecting the appropriate Form field. Unfortunately in FireFox pressing Insert F5 will bring up a Form field list the first time it is pressed. However any further presses of Insert F5 does not bring up the form field list and instead refreshes the page as if you had simply pressed F5. This made getting into my bank virtually impossible. I have tried this on many pages but the same fault persists. So it is back to slow old IE for me. Re: [JAWS-Users] FireFox and JAWS
Yes On most pages pressing F will work but not on pages where some reason the tracking of form fields does not go in appropriate sequence. This is why I use Insert F5 on these pages to resolve this problem. I would post a link to demonstrate this problem but it tends to occur on secure bank logon or payment pages so it is not possible to link. [JAWS-Users] Firefox and JAWS
Hi all, thank you very much for your opinions on Firefox and JAWS 8/9. I'm finding that Firefox does indeed work very well with JAWS 9; in fact, it works much better than it did with JAWS 8. I don't know if that's because Firefox has improved accessibility or the JAWS developers improved support, but, either way, I'm so far impressed and think I'll use it as my default browser from here on out. Thanks again, and take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] FireFox and JAWS
Hi, not tried this, but perhaps updating to either a later build of JAWS 8 or upgrading to JAWS 9 may solve your problems. As I say I haven't tried the forms list with Firefox and JAWS 9, but so far I'm impressed with the support, particularly the ability to handle web pages with the virtual cursor. Hope this helps. David Griffith wrote: Just my views on FireFox and Jaws 8. Re: [JAWS-Users] FireFox and JAWS
Just out of interest I downloaded and installed Jaws 9 to see if that solved the problem with FireFox refusing to let Jaws run the Insert F5 command more than once on a web page. This remains a problem as shortcut keys like F or pressing tab will not go to form fields in proper sequence on some pages. Unfortunately this incompatibility still exists between FireFox and Jaws 9 as well as Jaws 8 so it would still be impossible for me to use Jaws 9 and FireFox to enter my bank. So back to IE again. This is why I use Insert F5 on these pages to resolve this problem. I would post a link to demonstrate this problem but it tends to occur on secure bank logon or payment pages so it is not possible to link.
