 Hi Chris,
If the old technology works, use it.
 Newer doesn't always mean better.

Wow! I had similar problems using JAWS 3.7 and Windows ME. I think by
today's standards, you will hardly receive this message now due to better
handling of sound devices I think. Can't help you on the actual problem,
 but
it's just amazing that there are some folks on here using old technology.

Estelita,
With the older jaws I think you need to go into the configuration
manager by pressing insert F2.
Then go to alt S for settings. Go to Synthesizor, then make sure that
allow wav files is checked. Go to OK and save.

Obviously, if we can't afford the high cost to upgrade our system, is
pointless to dump this old technology while it still caters our needs right?

Hi Estelita,
If what you have serves your needs, then by all means hang on to it for as long
as you can.
I still have a machine with Jaws3.7 and Win98SE, and actually prefer it over
the latest and
greatest.
It is the most stable combination that I have so far.

Obviously, if we can't afford the high cost to upgrade our system, is
pointless to dump this old technology while it still caters our needs right?
Especially, I'm listening problems in new technology, I told myself not to
bother until my system dies on me!

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 3.7 problem with sound card

2007-09-11 Thread carlene knight
Yeh, I agree.

As an example, I can remember having Windows 98, and an older version of
JAWS, perhaps 3.7. JAWS worked so well with the media player at the
time that it told me what CD I was playing, the artist, the tracks,
ETC. You can't get that now, as far as I can tell. XP crashes less,
but I sure miss that feature.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 3.7 problem with sound card

2007-09-10 Thread Denny Huff
One thing you could try is to go to your Jaws default configuration manager,
then to set options and then to synsethizer options.
Tab to, allow wave files with synsethizer and check it. Press enter and
save it.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 3.7 problem with sound card

Hello list members,
I need your precious help please!
I'm still using JAWS 3.7 and Windows 98 in my PC.
My husband just installed a sound card called High Performance PC. My JAWS
still talking with no problem, but when it comes to play my music files, it
says sound device is not available.
WE uninstalled JAWS and the music plays perfect! I'm using Windows Media
player latest version.
Any suggestion is very much appreciated.
Thank you.
