[JAWS-Users] Office 2013 with JAWS

2013-10-29 Thread Scott Duck
Hello,

As I recall, there have been some issues with JAWS and Office 2013. Has any
of this been resolved in JAWS 15?

Thanks,

Scott Duck

According to eric there are some that have not. He told me to stay with
office 2010. I guess you can some what use it, but not much. He didn't
really break it down.

Yeah I know. Yeah Win 8 aint that different but for the few things that are.
The start screen is the really big thing, but other than that, it's almost
like Win 7. Like I said, I had just thought you had checked it out on win 8
is all. That's fine if you didn't after all, for what we do with it there
shouldn't be too much of a difference with it on Win 7 or 8 I gather.

Right, and since the touch screen stuff doesn't interest me, I have no
desire to install windows 8. Although I have heard, not much to jump up and
down about, heard most people are disappointed with windows 8.

I was the one who said he was using jaws 14 and office 2013. When I
first started using it, it was very clunky, somethings just wouldn't
load, and sometimes you had to reboot for better results. Now that
jaws 14 has an update, most things work. The main thing that doesn't
work is when you go to type a signature, it doesn't read you the text,
but it is there. When you try to switch between accounts it won't
tell you witch account is highlighted. Spell check does the same
thing, it will tell you there is a miss spelled word, but not read you
the suggestions. Your suppose to be able to sign in to your sky drive
account, and have your word documents saved there, but mine always
tells me to look because there were arrows discovered. That's all I
have found so far. FS knows, so we will see if they address it in the
next update. As for activating office, now you go through an
automated system, that walks you through and asks questions about how
many pc's you have activated there product on, say 1, and it will give
you a knew one. I have a copy of 2010 if any one wants to buy it. It
is office home and business edition. Contact me off list for more

 Hello,

I contacted FS and asked if Office 2013 works with JAWS 14. Their
E-mail response said that Office 2013 is known to work with the
latest build of JAWS 14 but it is a work in progress. Just how
much of a work in progress is it? Does anyone on the list have
experience with it? I use Office a lot and I don't need something
that is only half usable. It doesn't look like you can get previous
versions of Office from the Microsoft online store. My copy of
Office 2003 has finely run out of activations. I wonder if I need to
see if I can find a copy of Office 2010 at Best Buy or a office
 supply
store.

I guess the signature thing could be major if you are a bit skeptic, the
E-mail account not being listed could really be major, and the spell check
thing really is major. The sky drive thing, well if you're going to usit,
then it really is major too. I guess one could get away with Office 2013. At
least I could but for the spell check. I mean, I don't have a lot of E-mail
accounts, I don't really use signitures all that much, and as for sky drive,
I'm kind of skeptical about all that cloud stuff. I mean if the internet
goes down, so does the access your stuff.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Office 2013 with JAWS

I wonder if I need to
see if I can find a copy of Office 2010 at Best Buy or a office supply
store.

 Thanks,

 Scott Duck

Right, and since the touch screen stuff doesn't interest me, I have no
desire to install windows 8. Although I have heard, not much to jump up and
down about, heard most people are disappointed with windows 8.

I see. Just wandered since it really is meant for Win 8 I thought you had
tried it on there. Though there really shouldn't be too much difference
should there? Usually there isn't but you never know. I guess it would
matter with the touch screen stuff.

No, using it with windows7, have no desire to pick up windows 8, as I only
use office and windows7 for my business stuff, do all my personal and extra
stuff on the mac.

You can call Microsoft and beg them to give you an activation of your
current version of Office but it's a major pain in the butt. You end up
talking to several arragont egotistical Microsoft butt holes who come
straight out and ask you if you are a Pirate because you actually dare to
want to use 2003 in 2013 and oh my your hard drive might have failed once or
ti=wice or you might have got a new computer in ten years. I lost my temper
on the third guy and got the activation code for 2007 but a year later my
hard drive failed and I'm like ok no more Office for me they aren't worth
it. Man do I miss Excel every stinking day LOL!

In this case either 2010 if it can be found, or 2013. Very interesting.
