[JAWS-Users] PowerPoint issue.

2015-10-04 Thread Justin Mc.devitt
Hell Lstmembers:

Just a little while ago, I tried opening a PowerPoint presentation that I
need to review prior to tomorrow morning. After opening the document, I
received the following message: "Something has gone wrong that has made
PowerPoint unstable. Please save your presentations and re-start
PowerPoint."

JAWS also was completely compromised: no speech, cursors not operating. Does
anyone has a fix for this?

[JAWS-Users] powerpoint 2007 adding speaker notes

2014-04-26 Thread Don Raikes
Hi,

I am working with powerpoint 2007, and am having problems adding notes to my
various slides.

I use tab or shift-tab to switch to the notes tab, but once there I can't
figure out how to actually insert into the pane.

Is there a trick to this?

Hi Linda,

In Office 2007 or 2010, if you just want to read a PowerPoint presentation,
once the file is open, press F5. Space bar or page down moves focus to the
next slide and page up moves focus to the previous slide. Escape will get
out of the mode which F5 placed you into, at which point you can press
Alt+F4 to close the program.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] PowerPoint 2010 Notes JAWS

Hello All,

At work I am using PowerPoint 2010 and JAWS 12 with Windows7. I need to
read the information in the Notes Pane of PowerPoint. The JAWS 12 help said
to use Control+Shift+n, but it does not work. FS Tech support confirmed
this and said that they think that this problem has been fixed in JAWS 14.
Does anyone know if this is the case? When using JAWS 14 can I create
and/or edit notes?

Thanks,

Annette

Hi, in order to read the notes you must have the power point running. If you
open up the power point and do nothing else but arrow through it it is not
running.

Here are some simple instructions on how to read a power point and do a
presentation. If this is what you have all ready tried I apologize as I do not
know your skill set or experience with Power Point.
Hope this helps.

Robin East
Using JAWS 12 and Windows 7
1. Start the power point or open up the presentation

 2. once you have the power point up and running you can arrow through it but
if you want to listen to it then do the following:

3. tap F5. this starts the power point presentation. \

4. To move forward a screen tap the space bar

5. to move back a screen Tap the back space key

6. To read speaker notes do a control + shift + N for notes You must have power
point running though!!

7. To stop the slide show tap F5 again as this key acts like a toggle

Hope this helps you get to the notes for you.

Seminars@Hadley Presents: Preparing Powerful
PowerPoint 2010 Presentations for Blind Users (Part 2)

Date: Tuesday, December 6, 2011
Time: 10:00 AM CST, 16:00 GMT

The ability to create and give professional,
informative presentations is increasingly
becoming a necessary skill in both the workplace
and educational arenas. Creating the PowerPoint
presentation is only the first, and often easier,
step in the process. Ensuring your presentation
is presented professionally with confidence can
be a daunting task for presenters who are visually impaired.

Join Seminars@Hadley as Hadley Instructor Amy
Salmon presents Part 2 of the series on Preparing
 Presenting Powerful PowerPoint Presentations
for Blind Users. This seminar focuses on
strategies and tools for using advanced features
in PowerPoint, ensuring the accessibility of your
PowerPoint presentation and for improving your
PowerPoint presentation skills. In this seminar you will learn how to:

Insert and customize audio elements on a slide
Insert and customize slide animation effects
Insert and properly label graphics that have alternate text
Ensure accessibility of your presentation for
other users who are visually impaired

Create handouts of your presentation
Access and use PowerPoint features to improve your presenting skills
Note: This seminar will use PowerPoint 2010,
which is quite a bit different than earlier
versions. If you are not currently using
PowerPoint 2010, please be aware that all
features and functions demonstrated in the
seminar may not work the same in your version.

This 60 minute seminar will be moderated by
Hadley Ambassador Billy Brookshire.
Space in this seminar is limited. Please only
register if you know you are available to attend
so that others are not closed out

[JAWS-Users] PowerPoint 2010 Presentation

2011-10-31 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Good evening,

This evening I was making a presentation using PowerPoint 2010 and JFW12.
I'm a novice with PowerPoint, so I'm sure the error was mine, but has anyone
ever experienced a situation where when running the slide show, JFW is
reading the 2nd slide even though you know the 3rd slide is up on screen?
It's as though I have some effect in place that's causing me not to be able
to get it to work properly.

Any thoughts would help.

Just wondering if it is possible for a totally blind person using Jaws to
create a PowerPoint presentation? I know we can read the text on slides, but
what about the creation? For my courses next fall, one class is on computer

Both of the versions, 03, and 07 are accessible. You can start playing with
it prior to your class, as I've rarely had a class where an instructor
didn't require a presentation of some sort, and I'm a month shy of my AA.
It is also possible to create your text within Word, and paste it into the
slides.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] powerpoint with xp

I think PowerPoint is very awkward to use for someone who is visually
impaired and personally I think it is over rated anyway. Remember any
program can be projected.

. If you are really going to do it I would work with Outline files in Word
and import them into PowerPoint. Be prepared to use a lot of the Jaws Cursor
and have a uncomfortable time.

However I really really think it is largely a waste of time using a
difficult program when you can use Word to get at least 95% of the same
presentation effect using full screen view.

Just do the following in 4 stages .

1. Write your Presentation in word.
2. Use the following keystroke to apply the equivalent of title heading
levels in PowerPoint. Select a line of text and then simply
- Control - Alt 1 for Heading Level 1-
Control - Alt 2 for Heading Level 2
- Control - Alt 3 for Heading Level 3
You use Control Shift N to return to normal size text but this can be hard
to read on a Projector screen so I would stick to the heading styles for
your presentation.

2. Apply any fancy borders, shading, font colours or page colours you want
through the format menu. Insert graphics and other features in the Insert
Menu.

3. Go to the view Menu and Change Word to Full Screen mode. This will make
Word virtually indistinguishable from a PowerPoint slide show view.

4. Personally I would leave it at that and simply scroll through your
presentation which Jaws will read to you as it is shown on a Projector. If
you really want / need a slide effect you have some options.

A. Edit your presentation so that you can Use the page down key to move
down a screen at a time. The disadvantage is that Jaws does not read as you
go. You could try control down arrow which theoretically does but this does
not work well in my experience.
B. Open a separate document for each Slide and close then as you work
through your presentation. This has the advantage of you not having to edit
your presentation into screen Chunks.
Not too good for really long presentations but long presentations are
probably a bad idea anyway.
An Academic recently told me that PowerPoint fancy features had a very poor
learning effect. Apparently research has shown that people retain a memory
of the effect but not the content associated. The modern academic trend is
now anyway to move to simpler presentations of content as this is apparently
retained better.

David Griffith

Re: [JAWS-Users] powerpoint with xp

2008-03-11 Thread David Griffith

Regards

David Griffith

Re: [JAWS-Users] PowerPoint problem

2007-06-08 Thread D.A.Child
Annette,

Yes a 6 second delay but just on my desk top. Sounds trivial but
actually very frustrating when in a hurry. Often colleague send me their
PowerPoint presentations to review prior to a meeting/seminar but nearly
always at the last minute! This delay does not occur with other
applications. Strange that it still present on a newly built pc?

Are you saying that there is a 6 second delay before the next slide
comes up during your PowerPoint presentation? Do you notice any type of
delay when you are switching between applications? Have you compared
the specs of your video card?

 Dear JFW Users,

I am new to this list but an experienced everyday user of JFW at work
and at home. I have a problem at work running JFW V8.00 and with
Powerpoint running on XP and MS Office 2003. There is a regular 6 second
delay between slides when in Slide Show mode. This only occurs on my
office desk top pc.
My home pc and lap top are fine running the same software configuration.
My work IT support service colleagues are mystified. They have checked
sound card and other technical checks. They have been in contact with
the UK
supplier- Blazie - but to no resolution. They have just built me a
brand new pc and the same problem
persists? Any ideas please?
