Re: [JAWS-Users] Question about Vocalizer voices

2013-04-19 Thread Tim Bennett
You need to do a cntrol shift d before you modify the sound scheme. This
wil put you in the default settings which covers most programs.

Microsoft Word has it's own sound scheme so you will have to modify that
as well to work in Word.

[JAWS-Users] Question about Vocalizer voices

2013-04-18 Thread Greg Wocher

Greetings all,
Is there a way to get the vocalizer voices to change pitch for capital
letters? Or is there some other way to get them to let me know that a
letter is capitalized?

Thanks,
Greg Wocher

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question about Vocalizer voices

2013-04-18 Thread Eric Damery
Hi Greg,

The Vocalizer voices available to you at this time do not include the option
for pitch change. Until that ability of pitch change in Vocalizer is available,
I suggest you consider using the Speech and Sounds Manager to assign a sound
for capitals instead of saying cap.

You can choose to create your own sound scheme which indicates capitals by a
pitch change, to announce the presence of uppercase characters, or even to play
a sound for capitalized letters by creating a new scheme. To do this, perform
the following:
1. Press INSERT+F2 followed by ENTER to open the Configuration Manager.
2. Press ALT+S to open the Settings menu; press M to open the Speech and Sounds
Manager.
3. TAB to Create New Scheme and press ENTER.
4. Press CTRL+SHIFT+TAB to go to the Misc page of the dialog.
5. Arrow to Cap.
6. TAB once and select how you want capital letters to be indicated. The
choices are to speak them using the normal voice, speak them with a voice
alias, or to have JAWS play a sound when they are located.
7. TAB to the OK button and press ENTER.
8. Enter a name for the new scheme and press ENTER.
9. TAB to Save Current Scheme and press ENTER.
10. Press ALT+F4 and choose YES when asked if you want to save changes.

Eric Damery

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question about Vocalizer voices

2013-04-18 Thread Greg Wocher

Hello,
I forgot to mention that I am using JAWS 14 on a windows 8 64bit
laptop. I do apologize for this. I went to the settings center and
found the sounds schemes in there. I then modified the classic, which
is what is set as the default for windows. I changed the two caps
options in the misc tab to play a sound. When I switched to my vocalizer
voice profile it still did not beep or anything for caps. Do I need to
do something different for JAWS14?

Thanks,
Greg Wocher

Greg,

You should have the profile loaded for Vocalizer when you then go make this
change. If you are having trouble getting this set up, please call support and
maybe then can tandem in and help get this set up.

Eric

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question about Vocalizer voices

2013-04-18 Thread Greg Wocher

Hello,
Ok I have it working sorta. It will work when I am on the desktop and
ask JAWS to spell out the icon I am on. However, I cant get it to work
in other programs. Do I need to set the sound scheme for each program
to the one I created? If so is there a way to set it up to use the new
sound scheme as the default?

Thank you,
Greg WOcher
