Re: [JAWS-Users] Skype, IE8 JAWS

Doris- So you think that disabling the Skype toolbars is not the same as not
installing them in the first place, right? I was not sure what they were
used for in the first place and therefore was not sure if I would mess up
Skype even by just disabling them. Good to hear that you aren't experiencing
any problems by doing so- thanks.

Cher

Hi,

I am still using skype 3.8 as well. I downgraded IE 8 again here
sometime back but did not experience any conflict between IE 8 and
skype. I never install the browser plugins though.

I would uninstall skype completely and then reinstall avoiding the
browser blugins. Additionally, disable the use of skuype for call
to links in skype's advanced options unless you have specific need
for that feature.

Dear List-

After installing IE8 , I got a warning from the IE8 program that it might
crash if I did not update my old reliable Skype 3.8. Some Skype users
suggested disabling the Skype toolbars first. But am still getting lots of
IE8 crashes with 3.8 Skype toolbars disabled. I would

appreciate advice on newer versions of Skype which work very well with

JAWS12- and which are still similar to 3.8 if possible. Thanks.

Thanks Adi, Doris and Tim. I will try Doris'es advice to uninstall 3.8 and
re-install without the toolbars first and see if that helps. If not, guess
it will be time to upgrade Skype. Thanks everyone :)

Have the same setup and no problems running.
Would dump that and any tool bars running in IE, because they do slow
the system down even when not opened.
