Doris- So you think that disabling the Skype toolbars is not the same as not installing them in the first place, right? I was not sure what they were used for in the first place and therefore was not sure if I would mess up Skype even by just disabling them. I downgraded IE 8 again here sometime back but did not experience any conflict between IE 8 and skype. I never install the browser plugins though. I would uninstall skype completely and then reinstall avoiding the browser blugins. Thanks Adi, Doris and Tim. I will try Doris'es advice to uninstall 3.8 and re-install without the toolbars first and see if that helps. If not, guess it will be time to upgrade Skype. Sorry forgot the subject before sending that last message :( Dear List- After installing IE8 , I got a warning from the IE8 program that it might crash if I did not update my old reliable Skype 3.8. Some Skype users suggested disabling the Skype toolbars first. But am still getting lots of IE8 crashes with 3.8 Skype toolbars disabled. Hi, there is no skype version wich is like 3.8 in it's look. but, I recommend Skype version 5.3 wich is the latest one available. Have the same setup and no problems running. Would dump that and any tool bars running in IE, because they do slow the system down even when not opened.
